Lander NEWSLETTER

Chamber of Commerce

INTRODUCTION

From the Executive Director

L

ast year we rolled out a program to allow Chamber members to directly announce and promote deals, job openings, and business events. While we are thrilled to hear positive results from our responsive audience, we realize we have a long way to go in educating the membership on how to use these services. So, on Tuesday, April 5, from 12-1pm we will host our first How-to-Luncheon at the Chamber of Commerce. The perk: we provide lunch and all you have to do is show up! Topics of this session will include an overview of membership benefits, how to post events, jobs and deals, and a general Q & A for what the Chamber can do for you! Additionally, if you can’t wait to learn these benefits, go to our website at www.landerchamber.org and mouse-over “membership” and click on “member benefits.” Scroll to the bottom and you can view a series of two-minute videos, walking you through step-bystep the tools and features on our website. (It’s even easier than calling us. But we like that, too!) And that’s not all: once you post, we package announcements weekly into a bundle and distribute them via an email blast (or e-newsletter) and in-bulk regularly on our Facebook page. Finally, Spring is here and it’s the perfect time to start thinking about improving your storefront appearance with some seasonal flowers! Each year we coordinate the Lander Flower Barrel Program, a collaboration with Sprout’s Greenhouse. To sign up, complete the attached form, or call the chamber, and we’ll make sure that your flowers show up just in time for the summer rush of visitors and tourists.

Summer Barrels on Main Street

F

or the past 24 years, the Lander Chamber Beautification Committee has coordinated the wildly flourishing Flower Barrel Program: a businesssponsored “greenscaping” of Lander via re-purposed whiskey barrels and bright annuals throughout town. Now that a certain promise of spring has made a special guest appearance, it is time to start planning for your very own barrel of summer. In the 2015 season there were 74 refills and 11 new barrels, lining our streets with over 80 casks of locally

grown, floura-coordinated annuals. How it works: in April and the first week of May businesses purchase or “refill” a flower barrel with the chamber - via newsletter flyer, phone, or in-person. In mid May, the Beautification Committee delivers a final count to Sprout’s Greenhouse (they even keep your past participant barrel in storage over the winter) and the container is assembled with fresh soil and choice hand grown specimens. Sprouts’ and a team of coordinated volunteers deliver your barrels

to the storefront the first week of June (depending on which version of summer weather we’re experiencing.) ...Just add water. Contact us today to reserve your flower barrel! 332-3892
