introduction

From the Executive Director

ave you been to the Lander Chamber Ambassadors Extravaganza? If you haven’t, you need to attend this one-of-a-kind event. First, we are bringing in

nationally recognized comedian Bryan Kellen. Second, we have the tunes of Lander’s own Low Water String Band to grace the halls of the Lander Community and Convention Center.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE Lorielle Morton, President Fagnant, Lewis, and Brinda PC

Krista Lobera, Vice-President Holiday Inn Express & Suites

Mika Baker, Treasurer Central Bank and Trust

Cap that with loads of games and action and it will truly be a night you won’t soon forget. Did we mention, there will be Thoroughbred races? I know what you are thinking, how do you fit horses into the Lander Community and Convention Center? Because they are miniature horses—-wait, they aren’t horses at all. Let’s just say you will have to show up to see what is running the heats of this never-forget night. Why are we doing all this? It’s the kick off to fund raising for the new Lander Visitor and Chamber Business Complex. This 3,200 square-foot building will not only be the emblematic first experience to thousands of visitors a year, it will also house a variety of business support entities, including yours truly, the Lander Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center. Construction will begin immediately following our last Lander LIVE concert, which coincides with the Great American Eclipse on August 21. Oh yeah, we are also booking our Brewfest and Lander LIVE bands. You think we couldn’t beat last year’s line up??? Just

WHICH PROPANE WATER HEATER IS RIGHT FOR YOU? PULL THE PLUG ON ELECTRIC WATER HEATERS Don’t wait for your electric model to quit on you!

Over time, the performance of any water heater diminishes, and that means you could be wasting energy and incurring unnecessarily high costs . The sooner you quit electric and call Western States Propane, the sooner you’ll get the performance you want.

STORAGE TANK

TANKLESS

WATER HEATERS

WATER HEATERS

Compact size frees up more space compared with electric water heaters. 40-gallon propane unit delivers the same amount of hot water as a 50-gallon electric unit.

  

Energy Star propane units save about 1316 percent in annual energy costs compared with electric and heating oil units.

Saves more than $150/year in energy costs compared with typical electric storage models.

 

35-60 percent reduction in CO2 emissions compared with standard electric units.

50-60 percent lower co2 emissions compared with electric storage tank systems.

 

Delivers endless hot water. Heats water only when needed. Compact size saves approximately 9-16 square feet of floor space. May qualify for incentives and rebates.

WITH A PROPANE MODEL, YOU’LL USE LESS ENERGY, SAVE MONEY, AND REDUCE YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT COMPARED WITH ELECTRIC UNITS – ALL WHILE ENJOYING CONSISTENT, COMFORTABLE HOT WATER.

NEW WATER HEATER REGULATIONS In April 2015, the Department of Energy raised the bar for water heaters. As the regulations go into effect, new water heaters will be required to meet a higher efficiency rating. To learn more and see if it’s time to pull the plug on your water heater, take the quiz at KnowYourWaterHeater.com. Propane Education & Research Council

February is Heart & Low Vision Awareness Month Heart Failure Personal Action Plan Steps for managing your heart failure:

Take my MEDICATIONS as ordered by my doctor Exercise and stay ACTIVE

Check my WEIGHT daily and take action right away if my weigh increases Decrease the amount of sodium and fluids in my DIET and avoid alcohol Monitor myself for SYMPTOMS and take action right away when they occur See my DOCTOR regularly Other:________________________________________________________________ Ask my doctor how home healthcare may help manage my heart failure My next Doctor Appointment is: ________________________________________________

Common LOW VISION Courtesies & Considerations: Announce yourself whenever you enter or leave the room, especially when you are holding a conversation.

Speak directly to the person using a normal tone of voice. To avoid confusion, call the person by name and/or touch them lightly on the arm.

Always explain what you are going to do before you begin. Proceed in an orderly sequential manner.

Request permission if you need to touch the person to provide guidance or assistance i.e. when guiding their hand to illustrate a technique. Be specific in directions, i.e. "Your magnifier is on the left side of the lamp." If in doubt about how to help, just ask the person. Allow them to voice their needs.

Do not arrange or rearrange the space of a person with visual impairment. Avoid safety hazards for people with low vision. For example: Keep doors fully open or closed; Push in chairs; Don't leave objects in the hallways.
