Chamber of Commerce
introduction
From the Executive Director
S
ummer is coming! Believe me, before we know it we will be in the midst of it. First off, we will be running another Maximize Your Membership luncheon. During our April gathering, we had 28 people pack the Chamber lobby to learn the how-tos of making the most of their membership. We were so grateful to have community support from Mr. D’s Food Center who provided a delicious lunch! Most participants reflected on the training, “I had no idea the Chamber offered so many benefits to help my business!” Next, make sure to join us on May 14 for a Main Street Clean Up Day with various community partners (City of Lander, Kiwanis, Rotary, Boy Scouts, and many more). The event officially starts at 8am, but if you drop in early, Kiwanis will be serving free pancakes starting at 7am! The event will focus on Main Street and the adjacent alleyways. Speaking of benefits, one of the revised member benefits that is getting a lot of action is the Lander Bucks program: a local currency (think Lander cash that can be used at any Lander Chamber business) for spending and shopping locally. Since most of you earn money here in Fremont County, this is our way of keeping the money in Fremont County. A few more things coming down the road: the registration forms for our Flower Barrel Program continue to come in, and there is still time to register for your cost-effective beautification of your business space. We continue the preparation for Brewfest and Lander LIVE. How do these bands sound? Lake Street Dive, Hayes Carll, the Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, The Fruit Bats, Nora Jane Struthers, Zach Deputy and Sol Seed? If you like it, make sure you dont miss it! GOOD NEWS AT THE WASHAKIE APARTMENTS
#630-B is here! There’s a brand new apartment in town. We’ve just completed a one-bedroom at The Washakie Apartments, and now offer 9 units to our Lander community. 630-B has a gorgeous modern kitchen and bath, huge walk-in closet, sleek ceramic tile and wood floors, separate dining area, and lots of built-ins. Our contractors did a great job of retaining rustic architectural features while creating an open contemporary space. Other units sometimes available are a two-bedroom, two-bath end unit that also has retained rustic architectural features with modern amenities. Its spacious floor plan is perfect for room-mates or home office. A onebedroom, one-bath charmer has wood beamed ceilings, built-in glass bookcases and a must-see retro tile step-down open shower. Our studio apartment is another tribute to our contractors with its great floor plan and impressive storage space. There’s free laundry to tenants and off-street parking. Our yearly leases range from $700-$975, some including utilities. As owners we’re serious about tenant choices, property maintenance and cleanliness. We screen tenants for both credit and criminal background to make sure you have good neighbors. Our maintenance manager does maintenance checks and takes fast action on problems; yard maintenance and landscaping are ongoing and we’re always upgrading exterior lighting so our tenants have a safe environment. Every unit is professionally cleaned before we call it rent-ready, and common hallways and our laundry room are regularly professionally cleaned. Sample photos of several units on back… If you or someone you know would be a good match for The Washakie Apartments, email Margaret Shepherd at vbmargaret@gmail.com or call or text her at 213-820-6602.
