S
uccessful small businesses are a sign of thriving and vibrant communities, and your Lander Chamber of Commerce is continuing its efforts to promote and support our hundreds of local small businesses. Think Lander First this Christmas Season Together with the LOR Foundation, the Lander Chamber has launched our Think Lander First campaign to remind everyone in Lander and Fremont County that where you shop matters. When more of us shop locally, those dollars are funnelled back into the local economy and right into the pockets of our neighbors. Consider: • Lander boasts more than 400 small businesses • More than 74% of the local workforce is employed by a small business • For every $100 you spend at a small business, $68 stays in the local economy • 50% of small businesses don’t make it past the 5-year mark • 81% of small businesses plan to donate to local charitable and community causes • As entrepreneurs thrive, they tend to become more committed to the local community, contributing in more ways than just writing a check; they become community leaders, coaching little league, serving on local commissions, and running for elected office Shop Local / Shop Lander with Lander Bucks You can Keep it Local, Lander at Chamber member businesses with Lander Bucks, available for purchase on the Chamber’s homepage or at the Visitor Center & Business Complex located at 100 N 1st St (across from the old grain silo). Lander Bucks come in increments of $5, $10, $15, and $20, and can be spent just like cash (they’re basically pre-signed checks) at any Chamber member business. You Can Win Lander Bucks! Through Christmas, the Chamber is hiding Lander Bucks at various local businesses that you can win to help you with your Christmas shopping! When you purchase an item at a Chamber member business, you have the chance to receive one of these lucky Lander Bucks. Think of them as “Golden Tickets” scattered throughout Lander as our small gift to you! Merry Christmas! May the true blessings and peace of the Christmas season be with you and yours!

Welcome, New Members! Bunk’s BBQ is a local, family-owned business that was founded in 2017 by James & Brigett Bunker. Bunk’s began as a food truck that also offered catering services. Going strong in July of 2018, James & Brigett suffered a devastating fire and lost their food trailer. Encouraged by their amazing community, they not only rebuilt their food truck in 2019, they also build a restaurant! Located in Riverton at 201 E Washington Ave, the restaurant is open Wed-Thurs-Friday 11 am – 8:30pm and Saturday 4:30-8:30pm. Bunk’s continues to offer catering for events on-site and off, and they also run their food truck at local community events. (Like Lander Brewfest!!) Aware of their blessings, James & Brigett give back as much they can to the community, including sourcing many of their ingredients from local farmers and ranchers. On the personal side, James & Brigett are the proud parents of twin 13-year-old boys and a 1-year-old little girl! Between the restaurant, food truck, kiddos, and little animal rescue (3 dogs, 4 cats, 2 horses, and little black angus herd, the Bunkers stay very busy, and love every minute of it! “We truly want to thank everyone who has supported us, our dream, and our journey over the last five years. We could not have done it without the support of our family, friends, community, staff, and customers! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you everyone!”
Anam Cara Caregiving was founded by Sarah Wilzbacher, RN in 2019 the be an in-home caregiving organization in Lander committed to supporting individuals who want to age in place, including those who want to remain at home during final days. Anam Cara (for short!) provides custom care to individuals in their homes so they can stay at home as they age, change, and approach latter phases of life. Available support ranges from a few hours a month to around the clock care when needs are high. Family Caregivers Need Support, Too! Lack of rest, high stress, and emotional exhaustion lead to caregiver burnout. This impacts care and affects the ability to connect and be present with loved ones. Caregiver burnout is real and, unfortunately, all too common, leading to physical illness, mental and emotional drain, and irritability and disconnect in relationships that matter most. Anam Cara provides family caregivers with access to resources and hands-on support, so they can stay connected, healthy, and engaged as they navigate the stress of caregiving and grieving.
What Do Caregivers Do? Caregivers provide care at varying levels to meet individual needs. They help with meal preparation, grocery shopping, personal care, safe transferring assistance, medication reminders, companionship, transportation, hair and nail care, and other tasks directed by family and established medical teams. Anam Cara collaborates with home health, hospice, and primary medical teams so the team model runs smoothly, and communication and care is seamless. Anam Cara believes that quality (continued next page)

25 MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Anam Cara Caregiving (continued) care begins with a caregiver who is well cared for and respected, rejecting a work culture that enables burnout, scarcity, and unsolicited demands. Anam Cara caregivers have service-oriented hearts and do amazing work because they want to be serving their clients. Say What? Who? Anam Cara (AH-nem KAH-ruh) is a Gaelic phrase which loosely translates as “Soul friend.” Historically, Anam Caras were trusted guides through the liminal transitions of birth and death. They offered a holistic approach to suffering, healing, and wellness (even in dying!) and valued whole person care. In Celttradition, the Anam Cara exercises trust, honesty, humility, compassion, and acceptance in building therapeutic relationships.

Serving the emergency medical services needs of a rural state like Wyoming is no easy feat, especially when health and safety are more of a concern than ever. The team at Guardian Flight has been providing outstanding care and service to the communities of Wyoming at a moment’s notice for nearly a decade now. As dedicated and dependable partners in public safety for the community, the teams at Guardian Flight serve the communities of Cody, Riverton, Lander, Worland, and Gillette as well as the surrounding regions. Each base is staffed roundthe-clock by teams of highly trained and experienced pilots, flight nurses, flight paramedics, and aviation maintenance technicians who use a fully equipped fleet of helicopters and fixedwing aircraft to deliver outstanding emergency medical care. Whether responding to medical emergencies near Yellowstone, a natural disaster, mass casualty event, a global pandemic, or anything in between, Guardian Flight’s teams take every step to provide safety, security, and high-quality care to our communities. Every patient transported by Guardian Flight is accompanied by two highly-trained critical care clinicians who provide advanced medical care from bedside to bedside. They transport medical, surgical, cardiac, trauma, pediatric, high-risk OB, neuro, and burn patients from rural facilities to secondary and tertiary care facilities 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Guardian Flight’s mission is providing care to the world at a moment’s notice, and that is a commitment they never waver in. In keeping with that mission, they make it a goal to help educate their fellow first responders and com-
munity members on safety, medical care, and emergency preparedness topics. Throughout the year, they host safety drills, landing zone courses, helipad safety classes and clinical trainings with Wyoming first responders, search and rescue teams, and healthcare providers to ensure that when minutes matter, Guardian Flight is ready and prepared to respond. Their team members also do their part to give their time, talents, and resources to causes and events that make Wyoming an even better place to live. From local community functions to large-scale attractions, Guardian Flight team members pride themselves on giving back to their friends, neighbors, family, and fellow Wyoming residents. “The team in Lander participated in several local events last year. They are a great representation of what it means to be of service,” said Brandon Kelley, Program Director for Guardian Flight. “They donated to the Veteran display at Fort Washakie, hosted the first-aid tent at the Breast Cancer 5K, participated in the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Banquet, Light Up Lander, and helped at the Lander Community Health Clinic. They work hard to be active members of the community they serve.” The teams of Guardian Flight understand the idyllic life that comes with living in one of the many great tight-knit communities in Wyoming. Each base operates with a sense of purpose and a commitment to serving their community, friends, and neighbors.
