INTRODUCTION

From the Executive Director As 2016 arrives, so does the chance to make a difference to our business community. January will mark the beginning of the 2016 Wyoming Legislative session—and this session is going to be an important one for our great state. In the midst of a major economic challenge in response to energy markets, our legislators will look towards creative solutions to deliver a balanced budget. As members of the Chamber and our business community, it is our duty to follow what happens in Cheyenne and stay abreast of legislative issues that affect your business environment. To help, we are hosting the Meet Your Legislators Day on January 14, a day where constituents of business issues are able to engage with Legislators. Please contact us if you are interested in participating, but realize that space is limited. Additionally , we will provide you with bill-tracking information on the issues that matter. Expect regular updates from us as the session progresses, as well as what you can do to influence legislation. Finally, we invite you to submit nominations for our 2016 community awards. This annual tradition recognizes business leaders and innovative best practices within our community. This year’s categories are:

The deadline for

applications is February 19, 2016. Applications will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate that their programming has a direct benefit to the tourism industry, specifically in the Lander area.

Priority will be given for

multi-day events, programs that highlight the unique nature of Lander’s tourism assets, and those that bring outside primary tourism dollars into our community.
