We Promote & Support Fremont County’s Tourism Economy
Tourism is the economic lifeline for many businesses in Lander and all of Fremont County The Lander Chamber plays a vital role in promoting and supporting tourism throughout all of Wyoming’s Wind River Country.
We Operate Fremont County’s Only Full-Service Visitor Center
Since opening the Lander Visitor Center & Business Complex in 2018, the Lander Chamber has assisted thousands of walk-in visitors; answered thousands of phone, email, and social media inquiries; assembled thousands of SWAG bags for local organizations and businesses hosting events and meetings; mailed hundreds of visitor information packets; as well as designing, publishing, and distributing thousands of copies of the Destination Lander Travel & Relocation Guide.
We Manage the Tourism Asset Development (TAD) Grant Program
We also manage, on behalf of the City of Lander and in partnership with the Wind River Visitors Council (WRVC), the Tourism Asset Development (TAD) Grant Program, the only program of its kind in all of Wyoming Each year we allocate tens of thousands of dollars of lodging tax proceeds to non-profit and civic organizations whose events and programs attract visitors to Lander. Through the years, there have been few events and programs hosted in Lander that have not been supported by a TAD Grant.
We Produce the Lander Front Map
We also recently completed an update of the Lander Front Map, a project that began initially as a partnership between NOLS and the Lander Chamber. Now solely a project of the Chamber, with several Lander area supporting partners, the Lander Front Map details all of the trail systems in and around Lander. It is the single most popular tourism resource that we distribute from the Lander Visitor Center, and it has earned the reputation as the “go-to” map for visitors and locals alike who are eager to enjoy, appreciate, and treasure Lander’s natural beauty
We Represent Lander on the Wind River Visitors Council
For the past decade, my predecessor and I have served consecutively as one of the City of Lander’s two appointed representatives to the Wind River Visitors Council, Fremont County’s lodging tax board and Destination Marketing Organization. The WRVC has achieved new heights of success in drawing visitors to our region, and we remain grateful for the opportunity to serve.

One of the first and most important steps in establishing business credit is to keep your personal and business finances separate. Forming a Limited Liability Company (LLC) provides several advantages such as limiting your personal liability and giving you tax flexibility You’ll also need an Employer Identification Number (EIN) and a Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number. Similiar to a social security number for your business, and EIN is used for tax purposes, opening a business bank account, and applying for business licenses. Your DUNS number is a unique identifier for businesses, issued by Dun & Bradstreet, and is used to establish your business credit file, which is crucial for building credit and obtaining loans. Once you have your EIN, one of the first things you should do is open a business bank account You also might consider taking out a small loan or opening a line of credit with your business bank account. To further build your business credit, open accounts with vendors and suppliers in your business’s name. This step will help you build commercial credit and further legitimize your business.
Marketing builds brand awareness and offers a perceived value, while advertising promotes a product or service. Advertising involves paying to promote a product or service to reach individuals who are the most likely to use it; it focuses on acquiring customers and driving sales. Marketing seeks to attract a target audience to products or services and deliver value to those consumers Most companies do this by creating high-quality content that provides a compelling benefit to their audience. Effective marketing entails deeply understanding your audience and what it’s looking for. When you understand your customers’s wants and needs, you can demonstrate the value your product or service provides in the places where your audience spends most of its time.
Effective time management is crucial for small business owners and team leaders who often juggle multiple roles and responsibilities Properly managing time is not only key to enhancing productivity but also essential in maintaining a healthy work-life balance, reducing stress, and ensuring long-term success. The Eisenhower Matrix helps in distinguishing between urgent and important tasks, which allows for better prioritization. The Pomodoro Technique involves breaking work into intervals, separated by short breaks. Time-blocking involves scheduling specific blocks of time for different tasks or activities throughout the day. Numerous time management apps, such as Trello, Asana, and Slack, can help organize tasks, set deadlines, and track progress. Delegation is another critical skill for leaders aiming to optimize their time.
