When the dust had settled, about $30,000 had been raised, money to help disadvantaged families with gift certificates at Christmas. The money came from people who watched on Coast TV and phoned in their pledge, and from the “boot campaign” of fire fighters, who collected cash at intersections and malls earlier in the day. Crash hurt car co-op At a special general meeting on Nov. 29, about 30 members of the Coast Car Co-op heard good news and bad news from their board of directors.

The good news: usage of the co-op's five vehicles has been steadily increasing and the organization is very close to a break-even cash flow.

The bad news: the co-op needs to pay down its debt and establish contingency funds in order to be financially viable.

Co-op Treasurer Mark Cameron walked the members through financial statements, explaining that the co-op faced unexpected challenges when their pick-up truck was in an accident and written off—not once but twice, in a year—causing loss of income as well as unexpected expense.

The organization has been surviving month to month, but it requires a cushion to pay for accidents, repairs, and membership reimbursements. Cameron said that the co-op needs to raise $30,000 in donations in 2018 and refinance its remaining debt.

Or, he suggested, they could aim for an "audacious goal" of raising $120,000, which would leave them debt free.

Cameron, and co-op president Bruce Devereux, asked members to "keep the faith" and help with fundraising and promotion. A GoFundMe campaign will kick off later this month to accept online

Interviewed later by email, Devereux said: "I feel this recent meeting injected a new level of energy into the organization.

Immediately following the meeting, we have struck a new fundraising committee that has hit the ground running and will host a great event in January of 2018. As a board, we are really looking forward to where 2018 takes us."

Coast Car Co-op was the sixth non-profit car cooperative to start in British Columbia. It incorporated in 2013 and currently has over 100 member drivers. The fleet consists of a sedan, hatchback, hybrid, pick-up truck and van.

One vehicle is stationed in Sechelt, one in Roberts Creek, and three in Gibsons.

The co-op partners with Modo, a Vancouver carshare

with over 500 vehicles. Devereux said: "Modo has been a great supporter of Coast Car Coop before we launched in March of 2014 and continues to be a valued asset in our ongoing operations. They share expertise and firmly believe in the power of the cooperative movement of car sharing."

Fully refundable Coast Car Co-op memberships are $400, and vehicles are booked at hourly or daily rates. Members may also use vehicles from other Canadian carshares in locations including Vancouver, Nanaimo, Victoria, Kelowna, and Regina.

The co-op is run by a volunteer board of directors and has one part-time employee who manages operations.

Online bookings are made via software developed by Modo.

Instructions: 1. In bowl, stir together yogurt and cooking sauce. Transfer mixture to large zippered plastic bag. Add chicken to bag. Seal bag. Massage bag until yogurt mixture completely coats chicken. Refrigerate for 2 hours.

3. Cook rice according to package directions. While rice cooks, cook chicken.

LEAP winner will work on housing An enthusiastic crowd gathered at the Gibsons Public Market on Nov. 30 to vote for the best business idea from social entrepreneurs graduating from the LEAP (the Local Entrepreneurs Accelerator Program) offered

by Community Futures and Simon Fraser University.

Seven contestants gave five-minute pitches and then answered questions from a panel of experts consisting of last year's winner Laurie Lesk (Sunshine Coast Pride Guide), Theresa Logan (Sechelt Chamber of Commerce), and Colin Stansfield (executive director of the Gibsons Public Market).

The winner of the $500 top audience award was Pamela Robertson, with Community Housing Solutions.

Robertson, who runs her own safety equipment company, made news on the Coast last summer when she started a GoFundMe campaign to build a tiny home park for people struggling to find affordable housing.

However, her project hit many hurdles, such as the cost and availability of suitable land.

Robertson said she had been working with Community Futures and was "struggling" when the LEAP program called for students.

"It could not have had better timing," said Robertson.

"It was an amazing group.

I've made invaluable connections."

During the eight-week program, Robertson pared down her large goal and asked herself "what can I do right now?" Her new business concept, which she'll launch this spring, is to work with owners of rural properties that are zoned to permit a second dwelling, and help them through the process of assessing their property, sourcing a suitable dwelling, and setting it up. "I would remove the headache of the entire process," said Robertson.

She may also branch into manufacturing high quality tiny homes, and still dreams of starting a small home community.

The LEAP instructors also award a special $250 Instructors' Choice prize to Pat Hunt from the Community Resource Centre, who is creating "The Knowledge Exchange"—a re-envisioned volunteer centre for the Sunshine Coast.

The other social entrepreneurs were: • Mara Parnell, who sells signature blends of tea through her Davis Bay Tea Company (davisbaytea.ca).

• Jill Hemmings of the Sechelt Farm Collective, who will offer convenient online ordering of produce from local growers.

Editorial Opinion Don’t drive the high-way Ever since Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced plans to legalize marijuana, there's been a buzz around the country – pardon the pun – about safety concerns surrounding the announcement. Enforcement is a key prong of safety, and roadside testing is one of the most critical challenges facing police services nationwide.

This year's National Safe Driving Week (Dec. 1 – 7) the Canada Safety Council and Public Safety Canada want to remind you that enforcement only comes into play when the law is being broken... and it's your responsibility to ensure that you never drive under the influence of drugs.

"It's a very dangerous idea to drive after consuming marijuana," said Jack Smith, president of the Canada Safety Council.

"There's often a comparison made between driving drunk and driving high. Too often, the question becomes which is more dangerous. The real question should be, why risk either in the first place?"

Studies show that Canadians are concerned with the possibility of further impaired drivers. Research done by State Farm Insurance in 2016 shows that more than 60 per cent of respondents foresee an increase in impaired driving when marijuana is legalized.

Out of these same respondents, only one in 10 admitted to driving high – and 44 per cent of those who reported driving while high said it didn't impact their ability to drive safely.

Indeed, the drug carries several effects that make its combination with driving a potentially fatal one: • Marijuana reduces reaction time. A slower reaction can quickly make the difference between a narrow miss and a fatal impact.

• The passage of time feels altered. This can make a driver wait longer than necessary at a stop sign or green light, or it can make an impatient driver run through a red light.

• Drivers who consume marijuana and alcohol at the same time may experience a multiplicative effect of these drugs' impacts on the body. In other words, drivers who have had a few drinks feel less impaired than they actually are, and precautions they might normally take – driving slower, being overly attentive – may disappear because of this feeling.

The simplest solution to avoiding this problem is to avoid driving after consumption of marijuana. The effects of marijuana typically last between one and six hours, depending on the amount and method of consumption. When in doubt, err on the side of caution and wait the full six hours before driving.

If you absolutely must get somewhere, call a taxi or get a ride from a friend.

Letters to the Editor – Opinions Spiteful logging (Addressed to the premier, Sechelt council and the Sunshine Coast Community Forest (SCCF), and copied to the Local) I am trying to believe in this NDP and Green government and hoping that they understand the importance of saving certain sections of our forest, which seems to be disappearing in a very fast way. I believe that this government is seriously looking into extending Mt. Elphinstone Park, which is supported by the SCRD and for years by members of the community.

The fate of block EW28 is apparently in the hands of the SCCF who have decided to cut this block, (which is the western boundary of the above said park) no matter what, in the next few days/weeks.

I implore all those with authority in this matter to completely put a stop on EW28, or at least put a hold on the logging to allow for more discussions re the extension of Mt. Elphinstone Park.

The SCCF to my knowledge has never listened to the community (even though they profess to be a community forest) and is not interested to this day.

Not only that, but the SCCF has three blocks waiting for logging and it seems that they just want to be spiteful and log EW28 first.

Suzuki’s children

(Re “A plea to politicians”, editorial, the Local, Nov. 30) David Suzuki make his position personal; is an ad hominem rebuttal thus justified?

In July 2017, a widely circulated ERL (Environmental Research Letters) journal study highlighted that the most environmentally significant carbon emission reduction action one can take, by far, is having one less child. Beyond that, owning an electric car

or no car, avoiding distant air travel, and green energy are important. Vegetarianism may be effective. (Efficient light bulbs, cold water washing, and recycling, may feel good but are comparatively insignificant.)

Severn Suzuki was born in 1979, when Canadian women (and their male partners) had wisely responded to societal factors and decreased the fertility rate (by 54 per cent over two decades) to 1.75 children. Yet Suzuki, already having three children, proceeded to have two more, an increase of 66 per cent. (World population has also increased 60 per cent since 1979, while carbon emissions have increased over 500 per cent).

More footprints (Suzuki or otherwise), more carbon footprint.

Moreover, one has to question the environmental merits of a 22,000km round-trip carbon footprint for flying anyone (let alone 12-year-old Severn) to deliver a six-minute speech.

Enviro-religious pageantry aside, isn't that waste writ large? Does waste in the name of waste reduction have an exemption? Perhaps like vigilantism to reduce crime? Or war to achieve peace?

Suzuki implores government to leave 80 per cent of fossil fuels in the ground because 'we' are causing environmental havoc. To reach that laudable end goal we all have to change behaviour first. Yet Suzuki had far more children than just about everyone else, and flew them around the world to give speeches, without compunction.

Perhaps someone should have implored Suzuki to let his resources lie fallow 40 years ago?

Listen to all voices

Thanks to MLA Nicholas Simons for his strong stand in favour of electoral reform.

In the past, in BC, these people's voices were silenced: women, First Nations, Japanese, Chinese, South Asians. Women did not get the right to vote until 1917. The other groups did not get the right to vote until the late 1940s (and later - editor).

Today, while there is universal enfranchisement, the voices of a significant number of Canadians are silenced, not by federal or provincial decree, but by an antiquated electoral system, First Past The Post (FPTP) FPTP does not recognize the votes of a group of voters who do not live in a riding in sufficient numbers to obtain a majority. Their voices, though in the tens of thousands in BC, are effectively silenced.

Proportional representation listens to these voices and welcomes them to the chambers of power.

Volunteers from the East Porpoise Bay Community Association (EPBCA) have been carrying out the air monitoring in Sechelt for the Ministry of the Environment. We started this program in conjunction with the Clean Air Society in December of 2012 due to our concerns about dust being emitted from the gravel pits in the area. As you will see from reading the summary (below) there is no real health issue in Sechelt with our air quality. Recently, there has been some misinformation going around that would indicate otherwise, which is why we asked for this report summary.

(Addressed to the EPBCA, above, and forwarded to the Local) As you are aware, the Ministry, with assistance of local volunteers, is operating a monitoring station lo-

cated at the Trail Bay Mall in Sechelt. The focus of this monitoring station is sampling of airborne particulate matter (PM).

Throughout the sampling period (consisting of more than 250 samples for both PM2.5 and PM10), there has only been one exceedance of the 24-hour PM10 AAQO (50ug/m3) and two exceedances of the 24-hour PM2.5 AAQO concentration value (25ug/m3). The PM10 exceedance and one of the PM2.5 exceedances were related to wildfire smoke in July of 2015. The cause of the other PM2.5 exceedance which occurred in January 2017 is uncertain and may be related to localized smoke from residential heating.

While a direct comparison of the discontinuous Sechelt data should be viewed with caution, it does indicate that the community would be ranked as the second lowest concentration in BC – bettered only by Powell River.

In summary, particulate data from historic and current monitoring indicates that Sechelt usually experiences excellent air quality, with the exception of occasional impacts of smoke from wildfires.

Census data: where we work New data from Statistics Canada reveals that more Sunshine Coast residents than ever before are relying on self-employment. Residents of the Sunshine Coast are more than twice as likely to be self-employed (26 per cent) as the Canadian average (12 per cent).

In 2011, the Census counted 2,970 SCRD residents who were self-employed, but by 2016 that number had jumped to 3,660. In that five years, the number of people the workforce employed by someone else dropped (-460) and the number reporting self-employment rose (+690).

The work data was released Nov. 29, the final installment of figures from the 2016 Census.

The number of workers commuting outside the SCRD has dropped in the decade since the Census last recorded people's work location. In 2006, 1,295 people reported working off Coast (9.5 per cent of the workforce). Ten years later the number was 1,025 (7.6 per cent of the workforce).

At the same time, the number of people working from home rose, especially at the south end of the Coast. For instance, in 2006 the Town of Gibsons had almost the same number of commuters (11.7 per cent) as people working from home (11.1

per cent). By 2016, home workers (19.7 per cent) outnumbered commuters (8.3 per cent) more than two to one.

Cheryl McNicol, a small business owner who manages and delivers self-employment training programs for the YMCA on the Sunshine Coast, is not surprised by the rise in self-employment.

"Since 2012 there has been a steady increase in the number of entrepreneurs completing the program offered through the Open Door Group Work BC Employment Centre," said McNicol. "I have also seen an increase in clients for my coaching and business plan writing services, especially in the past two years."

Richard Hoath, who works in the tech sector and is the coordinator of sctechhub.ca, says he's heard that more people working in the digital space are able to set up remote work arrangements or commute part-time.

"There has been an increase this fall in mid-career digital professionals new to the Coast connecting with the @SCtechhub," said Hoath.

"Entrepreneurs are launching their ideas from the Coast which is awesome.

They are leveraging technology to promote and reach a market on the Coast and beyond. It is great to see that

Coast support for this next gen entrepreneur is happening through workshops offered by organizations like Community Futures, and supported by local networking through groups like the TechHub and the Self Employed Womens Network."

The Coast's shifting work patterns may be part of a national trend away from regular full-time jobs. According to Statistics Canada, the proportion of men aged 25 to 54 working full time all year was down to 56.2 per cent (in 2015), the lowest proportion since they started gathering data on employment in 1980. The proportion of women in this group working full time was 43.7 per cent.

However, fewer seniors are fully retiring. Statistics Canada reported that one in five (19.8 per cent) Canadians aged 65 and older worked at least some time during the year, an all-time high.

The overall size of the Sunshine Coast workforce has declined as the Coast's median age has risen. In 2016, the total number of Coast residents who were working was 13,420, down from 13,585 in 2006. In the same 10-year period, the total population rose from 27,759 (with a median age of 48.5) to 29,970 (with a median age of 54.9). Donna McMahon

Sunshine Coast Conservation Officers are investigating a shot and left bull Roosevelt Elk that was poached sometime during the early morning hours of Sat. Nov. 25 off the Halfmoon-Carlson FSR just North of Wormy Lake.

The bull was dropped

with a single shot and left to rot; no meat was removed from the carcass and the bull was not of age or size to be considered a trophy animal.

The lawful elk hunting season was over in this region at the time of the incident, and the elk was shot during hours of darkness using a spot light.

Regional Districts are a unique, made in BC entity and the Sunshine Coast Regional District is unique in the Province. In this and future columns we will explain the ways in which the SCRD extends government services to all parts of the Sunshine Coast.

Regional districts are designed as federations of equal partners – some large, some small, some rural, some more urban – all different, but all equal at the Regional District. In 1967 the main reason for establishing Regional Districts was to provide services at the appropriate economy of scale for

tics, whether from business, unions, or from interests of any kind in this country or offshore. Political contributions will be strictly limited. Political parties will be beholden to no one but the voters.

Another new law has just come into effect that enables a mail-in referendum on proportional representation next fall. A combined 57 per cent of voters cast ballots last May for New Democrats and Greens, and both parties promised action toward electoral reform I believe proportional representation would ensure

different areas. For example, it makes no sense to have a separate Water service for each electoral area or every municipality. Recreation is another service that is usually provided on a regional or sub-regional basis. One unique aspect of Regional Districts when compared to other local governments is that areas only participate in a service voluntarily. With one or two exceptions, such as solid waste disposal or regional planning, no service is imposed on jurisdictions who do not want to participate.

It is important to note that Regional Districts are not another ‘level’ of government presiding over the member areas with the member units subject to the region. Rather it is the reverse: the regional district exists to further the interests of its member mu-

We need to collaborate on a regional basis if we are going to build the inclusive, resilient and rich – in health, in finances and in culture - community we all share in our dreams.

It was so nice to read that the Douglas College Women’s Basketball Team mentioned our Bball skills camp in their newsletter, The Royal Reader.

They spoke about how much they enjoy “giving back” to the community and “getting to know” our local ballers.

On Nov. 16 the local RCMP once again shot some hoops with our Sechelt athletes.

Both examples show Special O appreciates inclusion. And, for their final game of the year, Sechelt players travel to Gibsons on Dec. 7.

On Nov. 20 the Orcas Swim team hosted their second annual fun meet with the Chinook and Seniors Swim Teams. The amazing talent displayed, especially by the Chinook athletes, was truly something to see. Marshalling three different teams was like hearding cats but in the end all had fun.

Gibsons aims at secondary suites The Town of Gibsons is increasing its focus on secondary suites after two recent fires drew attention to inadequate fire separations and faulty, missing or unconnected smoke detectors.

The goal is to help homeowners bring their suites (illegal or otherwise) up to the proper regulatory standard, rather than to punish people.

At this time, there will be no sanctions against homeowners who request an official inspection of their secondary suites and are found to be in non-compliance.

"We appreciate there is a housing crisis on the Coast and that secondary suites are helping to ease the current

shortage of available rental units," said Chester Machniewski, the Town's building inspector. "Our goal is not to shut these suites down. However, we cannot turn a blind eye to fire safety regulations at the possible expense of people's lives."

"There also seems to be a misconception by some owners that compliance with our requirements for secondary suites is onerous and prohibitively expensive," added Machniewski. "In fact, in many cases a self-closing door, a bit of additional drywall and smoke detectors are all that are needed."

The Gibsons District Volunteer Fire Department

(GDVFD) is working closely with the Town to ensure all secondary suites meet fire safety standards.

"Everyone in this community should feel safe in their home," said Rob Michael, GDVFD Fire Chief. "And every homeowner who has a rental suite is responsible for the safety of the tenants living under their roof. We just want to ensure that all landlords are living up to their responsibility."

New planning director The Town of Gibsons has announced that it has hired Lesley-Ann Staats as its new director of planning. LesleyAnn will join the Town on Jan. 2. She replaces Andre Boel, who held the position for nearly five years.

Lesley-Ann brings close to a decade of planning experience to the role. For the past eight years, she has worked at the Sunshine Coast Regional District, first as a planning technician and then as a planner. Prior to that, she worked with the Sechelt Indian Band as a planning as-

sistant and developed land use policies.

"As a local planning professional, I understand both the local and regional context of land uses," said Lesley-Ann. "And as a member of the Gibsons community, I care deeply about the future growth and direction of this town. I look forward to working with the Town in a way that respects public diversity and values."

Real estate sales in November The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) – which includes the Sunshine Coast – reports that residential home sales in the region totalled 2,795 in November 2017, a 26.2 per cent increase from the 2,214 sales recorded in November 2016, and a 7.5 per cent decrease compared to October 2017 when 3,022 homes sold.

Last month’s sales were 17 per cent above the 10-year November sales average.

“We’re seeing steady demand in today’s market.

Home buyer activity is operating above our long-term averages, particularly in our townhome and condominium markets,” Jill Oudil, REBGV president said.

There were 4,109 detached, attached and apartment properties newly listed for sale on the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) in Metro Vancouver in November 2017. This represents a 30.6 per cent increase compared to the 3,147 homes listed in November 2016 and a 9.5 per cent decrease compared to October 2017 when 4,539 homes were listed.

The total number of homes currently listed for sale on the MLS® system in Metro Vancouver is 8,747, a 4.3 per cent increase compared to November 2016 (8,385) and a 4.3 per cent decrease compared to October 2017 (9,137).

“While we’re seeing more

listings enter the market today than we saw at this time last year, we have a long way to go before our home listing inventory rises back to more historically typical levels,” Oudil said.

The sales-to-active listings ratio for November 2017 is 32 per cent, which is up three per cent since September 2017. By property type, the ratio is 15.9 per cent for detached homes (up one per cent since September 2017), 36.4 per cent for townhomes (down six per cent since September 2017), and 67.8 per cent for condominiums (up seven per cent since September 2017).

Generally, analysts say that downward pressure on home prices occurs when the ratio dips below the 12 per cent mark for a sustained period, while home prices often experience upward pressure when it surpasses 20 per cent over several months.

The MLS® Home Price Index composite benchmark price for all residential properties in Metro Vancouver is currently $1,046,900. This represents a 14 per cent increase over November 2016 and a 0.4 per cent increase

compared to October 2017.

Sales of detached properties in November 2017 reached 841, a 31.8 per cent increase from the 638 detached sales recorded in November 2016. The benchmark price for detached properties is $1,608,000.

This represents a 6.1 per cent increase from November 2016 and a 0.1 per cent decrease compared to October 2017.

Sales of apartment properties reached 1,508 in November 2017, a 25.7 per cent increase compared to the 1,200 sales in November 2016. The benchmark price of an apartment property is $648,200.

This represents a 23.9 per cent increase from November 2016 and a one per cent increase compared to October 2017.

Attached property sales in November 2017 totalled 446, an 18.6 per cent increase compared to the 376 sales in November 2016. The benchmark price of an attached unit is $805,200. This represents a 17.9 per cent increase from November 2016 and a 0.3 per cent increase compared to October 2017.

With Christmas fast approaching, folks are making their lists and checking them twice, all the while wondering what to get for that special someone or the person who has everything. Original artworks can often be purchased at prices similar to those of mass market prints in home décor stores, but original pieces have lasting value.

Choosing a work of art as a gift can be intimidating, particularly for those who think they know nothing about art.

But when buying a gift, you need to know less about art and more about the person for whom you’re buying. Start by focussing on the type of art: Would they like something wearable, like jewelery or clothing? Or something functional, like a vase, bowl, or keepsake box? If you’re thinking of a painting or sculpture, what are the colour schemes and lighting like in the person’s home? How much space do they have? What kind of art do they already own?

And now, some information from our friends at the Pender Harbour Aquatic and Fitness Centre (PHAFC), an important hub of our community and more than just a pool. The centre has many activities both in the pool and in the gym space as well. Yoga, pilates, salsa and swing dance, multi-sports, body/core, sports nutrition, twoonie-Tuesday swims, Sunday family swim and rehabilitative programs such as steady feet, adaptive yoga and healthy new start take place in the gym. In the pool, you can attend gentle waves, aquafit, happy hips and

answer your questions. Often, the staff are the artists themselves who can tell you the story behind a particular piece. The Landing Artists will be at the Gibsons Public Art Gallery through December with 11 different artists showcasing everything from jewelery and scarves to paintings and sculpture.

Throughout December, the prices of paintings have been reduced at the Harbour Gallery in Pender Harbour. The Kube Studios is running their 1-2-3 Christmas Show: 20 participating artists are creating works no larger than

24”x 24” with original pieces priced at $100, $200 or $300.

Take your time when visiting an artist’s studio or gallery and go with your instincts, letting that special piece “speak” to you. Still, art is a very personal choice, so ask the gallery or artist if they have a return or exchange policy. And if there’s just too much to choose from, you can always ask if they will provide a gift certificate. It’s all about finding that piece of original art that will make a great one-of-a-kind gift and that will be treasured for a lifetime.

OBITUARIES CAMPBELL, Neil A. November 20, 1934 - November 28, 2017

By Marilyn Campbell I write with so much sadness to announce that my husband and companion of more than sixty years died on November 28th. Neil has gone from us to be with his Heavenly Father and our precious son, Kim, who was tragically taken from us a year ago to the day. Neil had health challenges for forty years but never gave up.

Neil was born in Cape Traverse, PEI to the late Hazel (MacMicken) Campbell and Ralph Campbell of Bedeque, PEI. He is survived by our son, Wayne (Sherry) of Prince George, daughter-in-law Kendra of 150 Mile House and grandchildren Graeme (Carol), Gregory (Nicolette), Aly and Josh and great grandchildren Madeliene, Olivia and Lucas.

Neil and I met while he worked in Digby, Nova Scotia and were married in 1956. Wayne was born in 1957 and Kim in 1961. Neil was invigorated by his work but he also took great pleasure in having people in our home. His favourite celebration was a lobster feast - shipped from the east coast. He loved to cook and was famous for his pies. He was never happier than when he was surrounded by people.

Neil joined Stedmans when he was just 18. He studied their retail training course and managed Stedmans in Digby, Berwick and Bridgetown, Nova Scotia before being transferred to Cranbrook, BC in 1959. Later he was promoted to Quesnel and then to Prince George which was the largest Stedmans store in Canada. He loved retailing and was known for his sales promotions. A brief visit to Sechelt in the spring of 1967 resulted in our family relocating to Sechelt in June of 1967 and opening Campbell’s Variety on Cowrie Street. Later Campbell’s was an anchor store in Trail Bay Mall for ten years. It was here that Neil initiated the now popular Sidewalk Sale, the Christmas Pyjama Party and Basket Bingo (where he made certain a single mom won a Christmas turkey).

Being community minded, Neil was active in Bethel Baptist Church, Sechelt Chamber of Commerce, Lion’s Club and politics. He will be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit with Campbell’s Variety, SOS Office Service, Fernwood Furniture, Town Directory Systems, Janitor’s Warehouse, Teepee Shop, Sara’s Ice Cream Parlour, V&S Store and Maribel’s Fine Fashions.

Friends have said they remember his generosity, smile, determination, encouragement, strong convictions and warm personality. He lived life to the fullest.

A celebration of Neil’s life will be held Monday, December 11 at Bethel Baptist Church at 1:30pm. If desired donations can be made to the Sechelt Hospital Foundation.
