WIDE SHOT OF EARTH ZOOMS IN AND IN TO EAST COAST OF FLORIDA – EVENTUALLY DOWN TO EARMAR HEADQUARTERS - LAUNCH PAD – EARLY MORNING; SUMMER DAY, T 10 SECONDS ZOOMS IN MORE AND FADES THROUGH CAPSULE TO COCKPIT. IN THE PROCESS, WE SEE THE NAME THE NAME OF THE SHIP PAINTED JUST BEHIND THE MAIN WINDOW – “CENTAUR” INT. COCKPIT OF “CENTAUR” Open on Commander Cody frantically adjusting knobs, flipping switches and pulling levers in cockpit) Muffled, electronic voice is heard from a small speaker inside capsule over the dull hum of the engines VOICE 10 – 9 – 8 – 7 - 6 With a look of surprise and sheer excitement, an energized Commander Cody looks over his shoulder into the camera COMMANDER CODY Oh, hello! Come in! Come in! Hurry, come in! You’re just in time. We’re just about to BLAST OFF! Please, hurry. Come in sit down, sit down, now. Buckle up. HURRY! Hatch door closes and locks. Countdown heard faintly through speaker inside cockpit. Crackly, voice continues with countdown VOICE 5 – 4 – 3 - 2 Wiping the wild Einstein-ish hair back off his face and plopping into his seat…
2. COMMANDER CODY Well, whew! My word, that was a close one… Hold on now! HERE WE G-O-O-o-oo-o…
EXT. WIDE SHOT OF LAUNCH PAD Smoke and steam spew out from under ship. Engines roar to life as the whole ship shakes and shutters but gracefully and magically rises up off the launch pad VOICE (We have lift off!) INT. CAPSULE COCKPIT – PASSENGER POV COMMANDER COPY Oh my! Another mission. And how wonderful of you to join me. Pointing at the name sewn into his space jump suit I’m Commander Cody, Chief Space Explorer here at Earmar. And YOU must be our latest recruit. Well, you could NOT have picked amore exciting mission. We’re headed to Earmar, a wondrous, mystical, magical planet to look for Joynimals. What are Joynimals? Oh my. Oh my. What are Joynimals? Well, we’ve got a few million miles to go, so I do have time to give you a little background.
3. It all started over 5 billion years ago when our planet Earth collided with the planet Mars. Smashes his hands together to simulate the collision Sounds violent, I know, but it really created the most beautiful combination of colors and substances you can dream of on Earmar -- In the morning, the sunrise is a bright purpleish-green. And the mist rising off the blue grass makes is look like you’re walking on clouds. And most amazing of all, are the glorious combinations of ANIMALS. YES, the Joynamals. With any luck, we’ll get to see some when we get there. Oh it’s simply a marvelous place --- and just a few hundred million miles that way… Points with his index finger out the window And yes, Earmar is the ONEAND ONLY place in the universe where Joynimals live. If you’ve never seen them before, oh my, are you in for a treat --- imagine half one animal and half another animal. Simply exquisite, really. We have no idea how many combinations there are…
4. But we know there are at least five, including these… Pulls some dog-eared 8x10 images of Monkraffe, Turk, Gazellephant, Snakoceros and Walphin out of a file folder They are remarkable specimens, really. But be warned! Joynimals are not at all used to human beings - and some are not even on friendly terms with each other. Earmar is indeed new and unchartered territory fo rus explorers and we must be aware of our surroundings at all times. MISSION CONTROL Commander Cody, come in. Do you read? COMMANDER CODY Cody here, go ahead. MISSION CONTROL Proceed on vector Bravo Two Niner… through Andromeda Belt and adjust speed to warp 5. COMMANDER CODY Yes, very well… Bravo Two Niner and Warp 5. Thank you boys! MISSION CONTROL Commander, can you please call us Mission Control and not “boys”?

5. COMMANDER CODY (That’s Mike and Don, my two assistants. Wonderful boys. Wicked smart, but, oh my, quite formal.) Looking at some dials and instruments Ah, yes, “Mission Control” boys, we are on vector Bravo Two Niner and increasing to warp 5. MISSION CONTROL Better… was that so hard? Smiling with pleasure after giving the boys a hard time… but now turning attention back to his passenger COMMANDER CODY …ok, getting close now, just another couple million miles now… but one more thing you should know before we get to Earmar, is that this is a scientific mission. We are looking for never-before-seen Joynimals, and we’ll be exploring previously untouched areas of Earmar. I hope you’re ready… Because we’re almost there… EXT.
