Brian Kersten Minnesota, who grew up on a farm in Appleton, Wisconsin, has forged a distinguished path as a veterinarian, deeply rooted in his early experiences with animals. His journey in veterinary science began at the University of Minnesota, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, graduating with high distinction in 1977. This solid educational foundation spurred him to devote his career to improving animal health and welfare. In 2021, he founded Mercy Veterinary Service in Baldwin, Wisconsin. The clinic realizes its vision to provide affordable veterinary care, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent pets from receiving necessary treatments. His specialties include small animal medicine, surgery, and dentistry, and he is known for his compassionate and skilled approach to veterinary care. In addition to his primary practice, he works as a relief veterinarian in Amery, Wisconsin. This role enables him to share his expertise with various veterinary clinics, expanding his impact on animal health across the community. His commitment to veterinary medicine was cemented when he obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1983. His professional career started in a mixed animal practice in Burlington, Wisconsin, enriching his experience and expertise. In 1985, he broadened his impact by engaging in humanitarian efforts in Haiti for 2.5 years, working with rural communities to enhance human and animal lives. Returning to the U.S. in 1987, he continued his practice in Baldwin, Wisconsin, and took ownership of a local practice in 2001. He also served as President of the Pierce St. Croix Humane Society from 2001 to 2003. After selling his practice in 2016, his passion for veterinary care led to establishing his low-cost clinic in 2021, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to animal care and community service.
