Brian Kersten Veterinarian

Brian Kersten, a veterinarian who grew up on a farm in Appleton, Wisconsin, has built a respected career in veterinary medicine inspired by his formative years among animals. He graduated with high distinction from the University of Minnesota in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, which set the foundation for his impactful career. In 2021, he took a significant step by founding Mercy Veterinary Service in Baldwin, Wisconsin, aiming to provide affordable veterinary care. This clinic caters to pet owners facing financial challenges, offering small animal medicine, surgery, and dentistry services. He is known for his compassionate approach and expertise in these areas. Additionally, he serves as a relief veterinarian in Amery, Wisconsin. This role enables him to assist various veterinary practices, ensuring quality care is consistently provided to animals across the region. His commitment to veterinary medicine deepened after he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. His early career involved working in a mixed animal practice in Burlington, Wisconsin, where he acquired a broad range of veterinary skills. In 1985, he ventured abroad to Haiti, where he spent two and a half years contributing to rural development projects, utilizing his veterinary skills to aid animals and their communities. Upon his return to the U.S. in 1987, he continued his practice in Baldwin, purchasing it in 2001. He also served as the President of the Pierce St. Croix Humane Society from 2001 to 2003, actively promoting animal welfare. After selling his practice in 2016, he focused on establishing a low-cost veterinary clinic, which opened in 2021.
