AIR OF THE FUTURE architecture | fall 2014 | mexico city | brennan buck with christopher connick Organized around five large simulation chambers, this project explored the potential of projected and overlapping geometries as a way to explore potentially new forms of space as well as facilitate interaction between researchers and the public. Situated in Mexico City’s Chapultepec Park, the project was meant to be understood at all viewing angles with clear views into the simulation chambers. Three overlapping bars helped to achieve this with uniques functions and circulation appearing at the intersections.

NYC SCRUBWAY architecture | spring 2014 | manhattan | shawn rickenbacker in collaboration with philip roberson SCRUBWAY attempts to answer the question of architecture’s future potential by re-imagining the ubiquitous nature of the “living wall”. Giving air treatment priority over typical program driven design allowed us to create a large scale and ecologically rich response to the specific nature of the site. With the potential deployment of this system and its variants across the urban fabric, SCRUBWAY has the capability of addressing public health at an urban scale; something often consider as out of the realm of architecture.

PHILLY THINKLOOP urban design | spring 2015 | philadelphia | chris marcinkoski Philly Thinkloop activates multiple vacant lots across North Philadelphia through the introduction of a mobile education system designed to provide vocational training and creative education for all ages. Through a network of “lotlabs” and “landings” which are served by 6 mobile education trucks, the neighborhoods of North Philly will be provided with education programs tailored to the resident’s needs and those of future industry.

KENGO IN DETAIL architecture | fall 2014 | lindsay falck in collaboration with cricket day + jackie martinez As part of the detail in design elective course we analyzed, redrew, fabricated, and assembled a portion of Kengo Kuma’s facade for the Sunny Hills Cake factory in Tokyo, Japan. The clear cedar members were assembled using the Japanese method know as “Jiigoku-Gumi”. The clear cedar was flip-milled and assembled using friction, wood glue and screws which are hidden by the subsequent layer of the lattice.
