Dear friends, If you sit at a desk all day you know what I’m talking about when I say low back pain. That pervasive ache at the end of the day that sometimes keeps you from doing much at all. You go home, sit on the couch, hoping it will go away. Even very healthy & active people know this feeling which is often associated with “overdoing it”. We store emotional energy in the low back. Low back pain is connected to financial support as well as providing emotional support to friends and family. Your low back might be telling you to stop doing so much or to stop taking more on. I was reminded recently of how debilitating low back pain can be. Maybe I was stressed, maybe I picked something up wrong, in any case I “tweaked” my low back. It was muscularly sore but I felt a pinched nerve sensation down the outside of my thighs. I did some yoga, then decided I needed to take it easy and do some therapeutic stretches at home. The following is a compilation of postures I have learned (and tested!) over many years. These postures can be done in a sequence or one at a time, although I recommend the sequence for best results. Of course this is only the tip of the iceberg. There is so much that we can do to heal our low back pain. If you have any questions about this guide, please feel free to reach out to me. If you’re ready to explore this more I would like to invite you to one of my group classes or to study with me privately. Thank you & be well, Brianna briannawelkeyoga.com
