who are elderly are also at a higher risk of depression, and living alone can add to the risk. Sometimes, health conditions such as cancer, heart diseases, thyroid problems, chronic pain and many others lead to depression. Trauma and grief - physical or mental abuse can also trigger depression. Life changing events can be stressful and trigger depression. Many people become depressed during a divorce, or while getting married. It is truly important for people to understand that depression is a disease that can affect anyone, and can be treated.

Additionally, I would say, exercise is a wonderful stress reducer and a tremendous oxygenator. Exercise reduces depression and makes a person feel much better. One should exercise 20 to 30 minutes a day, dividing each session into 10-minute blocks. Simple exercises such as brisk walking and stairs climbing that can be done almost anywhere and are very easy to do.
