EDITOR’S LETTER 2013. A year of firsts. The site launched with its first blog, BridalPod. Abruptly followed by the launching of Little Pink Book, our suppliers directory. We took a breather by launching #BridalPod, our version of Instagram. We stretched out our wings by teaming up with the country's top fashion bloggers and launched TeenPod, our fashion blog for twenteens. And now, before we take a pause we shall leave you with another first - our premiere issue of digital wedding magazine, BridalPod Premiere. 2013. Partnerships were formed. As we set foundation for BridalPod brand, we are extremely fortunate to be partnered with renowned brands like Monique Lhuillier and Metrophoto. They didn't just fall on our laps on a whim but because they believe in our vision, and we want to thank them for the support! 2013. BridalPod became mainstream. Thank you to all the wedding suppliers who have warmly welcomed us as well as to all the couples whose weddings became source of inspirations. And most of all, to all our readers who appreciate everything that we do. Thank you all for visiting our site! The Magazine. We’re not oblivious that it’s a bold move for us to launch an online magazine on our first year. And we didn't take this on because it’s easy. We’re simply acknowledging the fact that there’s a need for it specially in this day and age. This magazine is a product of well thought ideas, attention to details and no half baked execution. So, modesty aside, this is our way of raising the bar yet again. The Cover. We’ve invited talented suppliers in the industry to vie for the editorial cover of our premiere issue - and shut the front door! The submissions were overwhelming! The results were marked of individual style and creativity. They’ve put a lot of faith and trust in us, in spite of the fact that we just recently joined this blossoming industry, and for that we’re truly grateful. To Ryan Raquino of Blufish Photography whose finesse and style are showcased on our cover, a huge Congratulations! Please include BridalPod to your fan base! The Collaboration. A FIRST. We’re still in awe! The fabulous outcome was just the cherry on top. We had the opportunity to have worked with none other than the Industry’s FINEST on this first project at the MET. And seriously, they’ve delivered! We’re so impressed how amazingly good they are, and so we’ve decided straightaway that this editorial shoot needs to have it’s own magazine. EDITOR’S LETTER A lot of first happened to me this year and one rewarding undertaking was the inception of BridalPod. It is a continuous learning channel, something that I look forward to doing everyday – others would call it a ‘passion’ and I could not agree more.

FROM THE BRIDE T he experience was the best and the most memorable for the both of us. It was a wedding that would make us and all our guests happy and we achieved that in the end. Like any other wedding, our preparations had its ups and downs, considering that we prepared from abroad. Thanks to our very reliable event organizer who was a genius in everything that he does! Todd grew up in Calabasas, CA & I grew up in the Philippines, we had friends & relatives all over the globe. We picked Bali because we wanted everyone to have to travel. P lanning our wedding became the first step on working as a unit for Paolo and I. Their styled shoot came nothing short of unveiling many facets. Sharply capturing the very essence of an avant -garde bride - one who is edgy, spirited yet sentimental. THE PHOTOGRAPHER. Ryan Raquino is a promising brilliant photographer. A talent with finesse and style that defines his genre of photography. The Concept S o, what does urban chic mean to us? More than the tall buildings and the beautiful view of the skyline, we also wanted to portray the unexpected twists of the urban setting. Pretty soon, the team came up with elements that would suit just that. Ryan of Blufish Photography and Margo, our videographer, both immediately took hold of what they saw at our ocular of the location: the perfect 360 view of Makati and surrounding areas.

The shoot concept was a metaphorical story of a union, a journey and a destination.

Myke our stylist, on the other hand, seemed like his brain started churning ideas almost immediately after with visions of a non-traditional bride and groom on an exotic getaway in the city. Yes, we talked about twists and this is it: we always picture “exotic” as having sand on our feet —we wanted to put “exotic” and “city” in the same breath.

The Concept T here’s something in the city that makes sleep useless. And when we think about it, it's the art that's all around us that keeps us alive and creativity that continues to stimulate us. As with the art on Collective’s walls – we thought it was the perfect venue to represent urban. Being in the heart of Makati, this place holds the treasures and shops of budding artists and a space that turns into a party at night (sometimes reggae) - nothing gets as hipster as this. It’s like all you want to do when you get married with ambiance is drink champagne and dance on the table.

The Experience I t took us four meetings and dozens of emails in a span of 2 months to plan and coordinate for this Urban Bride Editorial Shoot. Nasia (stylist), Gilbert (Buen Films) and I prepared shot lists and the storyboard to maximize our time in 2 days. We wanted to make it feel like it's a real wedding happening on a normal day. When our model, Rachelle, was done with her make-up (by Hazel Icasiano), we were very much excited to start the shoot especially, after seeing the laborious work of Boy Kastner Santos' gown. As a photographer, I wanted to focus as much as possible on the details, the emotion and the location to bring out the urban feel , the elegance and the personality of the "Urban Bride". All the outdoor shots were done during the first day in the afternoon around Eastwood while all the beauty shots and details shots were done early morning of next day.

To be sure that no one would be late, we stayed at Eastwood Richmonde Hotel for an overnight. We started the shoot 9aam and ended 3pm the next day. Overall, we were just like a bunch of people playing around and having fun. Everything was well-thought-out, on time and very professional.

The Designer I t is going to be a fine journey for the bride dressed glamorously in beads and lace on a transparent bodice providing the right dose of oomph to transport her whimsically as she imagines herself traipsing the red carpet for the Oscars. How the designer responds to the tension between the traditional and avant-garde lies in his ability to see the truth about his client's personality seeing beyond her nervous giggles and shy self descriptions. And the truth not being manifested right away, designer and client hit on the stirrings of friendship true to form, BKS doesn't just draw his passion on paper.
