fLexes. Using a simple bookcase as a
project example, our measuring stick will significantly improve your ability to create a perfect project. It easily beats a tape measure (a tool not hnown for precision) andlor a framing square (a howse building tool) for speed and acailacy.
Our bookcase is to fit perfectly into a wall old cast iron radiator once
recess where an
resided. The components include: a top and bottom, one fixed and two adjustable shelves, a back and a toe kick (for this simplistic illustration we will ignore all joints, shelf supports, the baclz and the toe kick). Al1 length measurenlents for this proiect will be done with our MS-96 and a 6" pocket rule!
First, use the MS-96 Precision Measuring Stick to check the house walls for parallelism. Simply compare the recess width at floor level
to the recess width at bookshelf height by using the MS-96 (highly impractical with a tape nxeasurc)-the narrower measurement is your bookcase width. (A qwich, double diagonal checl< wiLI determine wall to floor squareness,) And the beauty is, you don't even know this distance! No numbers, no pencil, no markings, no mistakes! Take this "measurement" and set your table saw (ence (or radial arm srops/ the correct distance frorn the blade, and in cornbirration with the miter gage, cut the top and bottom of your prepped stock to length. (Did you notice the MS-96 locking knobs are located on one face? This giues J,ou three adiacent reference swrfaces for transferring measurements witbout knob interference. This is uery handy,) The MS-96 and your cut stock are now identical in length. Flush align the MS-96 with one board end and adjust the opposing end for the fixed center shelf ofiset by using yoLu trusty Bridge City 6" pocket

I THERE IS NoT AN EASIER oR I\4ORE ACCURATE WAY To I\4EASURE LENGTH THAN WITH OUR IV]EASURING FIG.
This simple illustration is an example of thousands of cases (pun intended!)where our beautiful a1d useful MS-96 Precision Measuring Stick will confidently allow you to productively spend your precious shop time.
Construction Our measuring stick system consists of six interchangeable extruded aluminum bars. The proprietary, crosssectional profile provides unprecedented adjustment ease with absoluteiv rigid joints. The MS-9e .,points,, are uniquely designed to keep the contact faces on an exact centerline. The lack of an offset insures dead accufate measurements in one plane that quickly earns your trust. Unlike shop made measuring sticks, there are no slots in our stick sections. Opposing sliding dovetails ,,jam,, to each',other by locking knobs located on a single face of the assembled tool. ihis design alcomplishes three important objectives. The 'wedged" dovetails create joints that refuse to move (measuring sticks that ,,slip" arc worthless). Second, wedged sliding dovetails always self-align, so any combination ofiections acts as one, preventing "joint sag". Finally by making the tool in sections, you can use the MS-96 Precision Measuring Stick on all measuring tasks from 21 " up to 97" without encountering knob interference. Four brass locking knobs are infilled with rosewood, matching our orher tools, the fifth is solid brass for purposes of engraving. The nylon tipped locking studs prevent scoring of the sections and mate with threacled brass bushings-a nice feature for you and your heirs. Finally, the nickle-plated tips (contact points are a scant 0.030" wide) are easily replaceable when your tool takes an inevitable dive to the floor. Frotn my experience as a teachet, I believe many of you have never used a rneasuring stick. I also know once you do, you will neuer go back to your old ways and are certain to regret not making yourself available to this tool sooner' Iil/e believe the MS-96 Precision Measuhng Srlcft is the best and most professional version of this tool ever produced. CS-6 COMBINATION SQUARE & DS-6 DOUBLE SQUARE sing tools sized for the job is one of the many joys of working wood successfully. As an example, the differences between building an armoile and a music box are simultaneously similar and different. Although the woodworking processes are very similar, the tools employed are different in size. Towards this purpose, we are pleased and excited to introduce to you two brand new layout and measuring tools frorn our talented tool makers. The most popular tool in our history is the CS-12 Combination Square (for those of yoLr who still remember, it took almost a year to fill all the orders...). This well-received tool is a rare combination of functionality and beauty without any sacrifice in perforrnance. \(e are absolutely thrilled to utilize this winning combination again in the CS-6 Combination Square. This cornpelling design fills a substantial void for many projects where tool size rnakes the job at hand less cumbersome.
Construction The head of the CS-6 Combination Square is cast from silicon brass. This durable alloy wears better than brass and is an excellent material for shops where moisture is a constant problem. Each leg of the square head is precisely milled on CNC milling machines creating a tool with an accuracy run-out of less than 0.002" over the length of a fully extended blade. Once milled, both legs are precisely fitted with a tnatched wood inlay, creating a look and feel that is the hallmark of an heirloom tool from Bridge City Tool Works, Inc. After de-burring and sanding, the wood is hand polished with carnuba wax. The web of the scluare head is satin-finished and lacquer coated. It is a strikingly beautiful tool and a proud addition to our family of legacy products.
The 6" (%" width) blade is made from stainless steel and is satin-chromed

readability. The graduations (%" ,'/'i' , k," , %i') are photo-chemically etched and meet or exceed all U.S. and British accuracy standards
for rules, Because the steel blade is harder than the
silicon brass body, there are two steel "wear plates" located at the bottom of the groove in the body. A quarter-turn of the locking knob is a1l it takes to adjust the length of the blade in relationship to the head. Once locked, the blade will remain in place until you need a change. This is the beauty of cornbination squares and their main function, The accuracy and beauty combinatior.r of the CS-6 is sure to instill the "joy of confidence" that only a well made tool can provide.
Uses There probably isn't a single bench project where this tool will not become indispensable, if not invaluable. Of course the main advantage of a combination square is the ability to adjust the blade to the head. One of my
favor:ite r-rses is cleaning up joints with a chisel. It is so nice to have a small square where you can check for accuracy and fit, where the weight or size of the tool does not overpower the intent. Often (particularly with dovetail joints) I will clamp a shop made wooden straight edge along the length of a carcase side for the purpose of accurately guiding my chisel. The position of this chisel guide is
crucial. \X/ith the CS-6, you can extend the blade the correct offset and align the guide perfectly fron.r left to right prior to clarnping. (Hint: Chisel guides or shooting boards work fantastic. lf the length is ouer 12", you may need to run a strip of dowble stick tape on the underside of the guide to keep the guide
from scooting.) This simple small scale tool functions as a depth gage, height gage, small square, miter square and can be used with a scribe or pencil as a marking gage. It is the most requested tool on our customer "hot list," and we are thrilled
to share it with you.

The DS-6 Double Square Double squares are handy tools simply because they do not contain a 45 degree leg. And I have always enjoyed using this tool in conjunction with my other combination squares where you have multiple settings and don't really care to compromise consistency by constantly adjusting the blade length back and forth on the same project. This is usually a recipe, for "gaposis" and the "putty cure" down the road. The DS-6 is made to the sane exacting standards and tolerance of the CS-6 and employs the same stainless steel biade.
