Each leg of the square head is precisely milled

Because the steel blade is harder than the
silicon brass body, there are two steel "wear plates" located at the bottom of the groove in the body. A quarter-turn of the locking knob is all it takes to adjust the length of the blade in relationship to the head. Once locked, the blade will remain in place until you need a change. This is the beauty of combination squares and their main function. The accuract and beauty combination of the CS-6 is sure ro instill the "joy of confidence" that on\'a ri'ell made tool can provide.

OUR SPECIAT CLUB MEMBER SALE! The CS-6 Combination Square and the DS-6 Double Square are not available in JuararM wood. At their given size, the JuararM wood cheeks 6plit and shatter during the milling process. This does not allow for a successful tnanufacture run.
Available in Rosewood only, each of the CS-6 Combination Square and DS-6 Double Square is from the initial production run and is serial numbered. (Due to the smail size of these tools and not wanting to compromise the graduations of the blade, these tools do not carry the usual "Signature Series" logo typical of new introductions, the serial numbers however, still signify our initial production run). Japanese pull saw The thinner blade allows for fir.rer teeth and fine teeth yield more accurate cuts with much less effort. Because rnese saws are so fast cutting and efficient, the blades are almost half the length of a \flestern saw, yet the results are twice as fast! Tl-ris is true economy of
motion and material. The long handle of Japanese saws can "splint" the wrist by bracing to the forearm. With a "stiff wrist" it's easy to cut a dead straight line. At
other times you'Il find gripping the handle at the end advantageouslike many techniques, everybody has a favorite. However, there is simply no comparison between a Japanese woodwolking saw and their Western counterparts in speed, accuracy and ease.
All that's needed to cut efficiently and faster than you haye ever done in the past is a light pull stroke and a graceful retreat. You simply need to completely abandon any urge to apply a downward force while cutting.
It doesn't get any
easier!
The tool steel in Japanese saws is remalkable for its ability to hold an edge in comparison to European style saws. At times it's difficult to
dull! Although it was common (if not economically ltow lrore economical, efficient and practical to replace blades. I have used Japanese saws for over twenty years and I quit sharpening then about nineteen years ago...you get tlie idea. It mahes little sense to file these extraordinarily fine teeth by hand. (l cannot even see the teeth on our new Dozr-rki szrw without magnification!) If your work habits are "tool friendly", you can expect to use your Japanese saws for hundleds of houls befole you notice the effects of dulling. Japanese saws differ

The care, skill and reputatior-l of the Japanese saw maker has a direct impact on the price ofthe saw. You can spend over $1,000 for a single saw in Japan! Although this might seern excessive (at least it does to tne) you call expect to pay upwards of $100 for: a professional saw

whele the cut is simply hard to believe. Almost any Japancse saw, even the "warehouse depot" models will outpel:form most European style saws in cutting efficiency. However, cuts looking like they have been nrade with a razor, and feel like glass to the touch, are only achievable with professional quality saws pr:oduced for trtre craftspeople.
European handsaws rely on "brute for:ce" for their effectiveness. Cutting on the "push" stroke places the saw blade under compression.
Thele are three commonly used Japanese saws found in the woodshop: the Dozuki, Ryoba, and the l(ataba. !(e are thrilled to share with you
(\X/e've all had these saws "buck" iri the rniddle of a cut.) Consequently, the blades al:e thicker to maintain rigidity. A thicker blade requires rnole force to do the job. More force requires more energy. And when energy runs thin and you become tired, the job is no longer fun, it's work. If this were not enough, residing at the end of your foreann is an organic "universal joint"-the wrist. The small rnuscles of the wrist easily fatigue, which is why sawing with a traditional rip or crosscur saw is hard work-rnaking accuracy difficult.

objective olPyraosrf, another "Mensa Award" winner and a two-player game, is to create a wooden ball pyramid. If your color ends on top, you win. This game is so simple and yet so addictively frustrating, you just want to play it over and over and over. Next time you are asked to take the garbage out in sub-zero weather, look your partner in the eye and say,..PYRAOS/ Ten minutes later you may not have to make the garbage run. And then again you may need to say...two out ofthree! (The board is relieved for the first level of the pyramid so the balls stay on the board, This is a strategy game, not dexterity game.-JE)
