crapers are simple, pre-historic tools designed to alter surfaces by pushing or dragging an edge across a softer
material. \Toodworking scrapers are unique because of che addition ofa "rolled burr" deliberately added to a thin metal edge to accelerate material removal. Not all scrapers require a burr. Scraping an inadvertent imperfection out of a cured sur:face finish is a completely different task for a scraPer edge than removing torn grain or a router burn. Either way, whether flint on Ieather or steel on wood, the concept is time-honored. And despite all the modern marvels of technology, scrapers for woodworking have remained r.rnchanged.
Until
today....
The router, as wondrous as it can be, has a very nasty habit ofoccasionally turning the sr.rrface ofyour stock into "charcoal". If you've ever rolled sandpaper around a dowel (or piece of wood) to remove a router burn, these new scraping tools will save yolt countless hours, inclease the quality of yor-rr worl<, and provide a more pleasurable experience. Or, if you loathe the continual process ofdressing and btunishing yolrr scrapers, we have a new soh-rtion for you. Finally, if you like projects

Excellent uork is neaer an acciclent, It is difficult to acctirately make perfectly round profiles from square stock using loucer bits. There is aiways a telltale sign tl-re profile was "router-made" whicl-r denies the curious che wonclerfr.rl experience of feeling a "true" shape. \Work that looks round, but feels like an emerging four-leaf
clover, is amateurish and avoidable. Even more insulting are router burn marks due to clull router bits, improper feed lates or woods witlr high sugar content. (Wben I see work on display, or for sale, witb burn marks I am immed.iately repalsed. by tbe insensitirtity. Trus, witb tbeir maruelous ffirings and po:sibilities sbould neuer

WoodDetaih is an exquisite, mouth watering eye feast of color photogtaphs detailing the use of wood in airtomobiles. It's ironic how a sheet metal car can be miraculously transformed into art object with the judicious use of wood.
