Sip, Savor and Celebrate Life with Wine Embark on a guided wine tour in the renowned Napa Valley, the most celebrated wine region in North America. Discover boutique wineries that are hand-picked by your guide and enjoy a tasty picnic lunch. Every winery has its own unique charm, but some rise above the rest. From wineries with gorgeous grounds to those featuring elaborate architecture, this is our list of the ten most beautiful wineries in Napa Valley. If you’re visiting Napa Valley for the first time or the fifteenth, you’ll likely be tasting a lot of cabernet sauvignon during your visit. Cabernet is, after all, acknowledged as the king of red grapes in Napa, dominating 40% of the region’s total production. With a terroir perfectly suited for growing cabernet, Napa has certainly found its sweet spot with this much-loved Bordeaux grape, and the results are powerful, deeply layered, and age-worthy wines showcasing notes of black fruit, violets, tobacco, and cedar, to name a few.

Of course, the sheer number of wineries in Napa featuring cabernet and cabernet blends is enough to overwhelm any wine taster, so where to start? To help guide you, we’ve put together a list of 13 of the most famous names in Napa cabernet welcoming visitors, along with a few lesser-known wineries worth noting. Make some room in your cellar, because we have a feeling you’ll be going home with a few new bottles.

DESIGN STANDOUT STYLE The 2023 BMW X2 turns conventional automotive design on its head with an appearance and attitude unlike anything else on the road.
Classic. The swooping X2 roofline is inspired by the sportiness of classic coupe design – and lowers the center of gravity for a look that’s anything but apologetic. Unconventional. The inverted kidney grille is a fresh take on a distinctive icon. A chrome frame with black high-gloss bars adds to the focused, energetic appearance of the X2. Rugged. The rear of the BMW X2 is styled without a bumper step, while an available M-specific spoiler provides the finishing touch. Daring. Add the optional M Sport Package for extra aggressive style, including the high-gloss black accents of Shadowline trim. Technology ahead of the curve. The 2023 BMW X2 features some of BMW’s most forward-thinking technology, keeping you connected to your life on the road – and everywhere you go.

Q. Is Music therapeutic for you? Music is indeed therapeutic for me. Depending on the situation - practicing, writing, or actual performing - there might be varying degrees of either how therapeutic it feels, or if it feels like work. Whenever it feels like work, it’s not very therapeutic and is less “fun” for me. But even the work part is good, because I’m moving forward in my calling, especially these days doing more orchestration and scoring projects. Q. At what age did
you realize you had a
gift to play, write and understand music? As far as I can re-
member I’ve enjoyed listening to music because my mother always had a radio playing. I believe it was in 5th or 6th grade music class when I discovered a desire to learn to play piano. I had a few classmates who could play piano because they took lessons. One of my classmates was naturally talented and was playing in church at that age. But even before that, at around 8 or 9 I expressed music by building “drums” with Crisco cans and tin pans and mimicked drummers I saw on TV, playing along with the radio. I got a Mickey Mouse set of drums

on Christmas Day ‘73. A few years later, my Mom bought for me my first keyboard, a little Magnus toy organ. I was about 13 years old. That was the instrument on which I taught myself the foundation of what I know and do now, and how to play by ear. Q. How important is it to understand the business side of music? At some point, in my early 20’s while in the Navy I learned about copyright and PRO’s (Performance Rights Organizations). I became an ASCAP member, but at some point, later switched to BMI. I became aware of the value of not only working for hire (setting other’s lyrics to music, recording services, etc.) but also of protecting my intellectual property and creating long-term passive sources of revenue through royalties. Understanding the business side is not just about money, it’s also about protecting your rights as a creator. Q Tell us two things we do not know about you? For example, do you like sports? Do you have a hidden talent? I developed a love for sports when I was in the 6th grade, with baseball being my favorite sport. importantly, at used CD stores that sold hard-tofind promotional-only singles that may contain instrumental/ acapella/ other versions not available for public consumption. I also bought import singles from the United Kingdom and Japan, along with a few of their albums for the bonus tracks not available in the U.S. Most of these collections either involved songs written and/ or produced by Babyface, Diane Warren, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, and David Foster. While I did collect other writers/ producers along the way, they were the main ones as they knew how to either bring the best out of a vocalist, lyrics (if applicable), music, arrangement, and/ or production. Learning from the masters through not hearing but rather actively listening to the many elements of the song drove me to pursue it. Q. When you write music where does your inspiration come from? So many factors go into the process of songwriting and it depends on the song. If I’m writing it on my own, then ideas can from virtually anywhere. Most times for me, it’s perspiration rather than inspiration. One shouldn’t have to wait for a song to come to them. It should

A Novel Idea Book in Bloom Just like we’ve been waiting for those springtime buds to emerge from the earth, we’ve been eagerly anticipating the latest books of the season. Check out these literary picks that have scored spots on our shelves. “TRACY FLICK CAN’T WIN” BY TOM PERROTTA | SCRIBNER Tom Perrotta’s follow-up to the memorable “Election” (the movie version starred Reese Witherspoon in the iconic role) reintroduces us to Tracy Flick, now in mid-life. An assistant high school principal in a New Jersey suburb, Tracy is on the brink of a much-anticipated promotion. But when she is asked to serve on the committee to elect members of the school’s Hall of Fame, a former school quarterback emerges as a questionable candidate and brings up bad memories for her. As high school politics rears its ugly head for her once more, Tracy reflects on events and figures in her past that still leave her unfulfilled. Doesn’t she deserve more after all this time?
No word yet on a movie adaptation, but we’re hopeful there will be one with Reese Witherspoon starring once again. 94
