Paint mare Wood She B Magic breaks all-time sale record for cutting horses $1,050,000

Wood She B Magic lived up to the question posed by her name on December 7 in Fort Worth, when she sold for $1,050,000 in Session I of the National Cutting Horse Association Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale.

Consigned by Wes and Lindy Ashlock of Abilene, Texas, and trained by Wes, Wood She B Magic—a 2018 sorrel overo mare by Woody Be Tuff (QH) and out of Magic Metallic (QH); APHA registration is in process—was purchased by Billy Wolf of Whitesboro, Texas, owner of 2017 NCHA Futurity Open champion Dual Reyish. Wood She B Magic’s price broke an all-time record for a cutting horse sold at public auction. The previous record was set nearly 20 years ago, when 1996 NCHA Open Horse of the Year Meradas Little Sue sold for $875,000, in the NCHA Futurity Sale.

Also sold at the NCHA Futurity sale, another chrome-splashed horse, Highrey Man [registration pending] sold for $250,000. The APHA-eligible sorrel overo by Dual Smart Rey (QH) and out of Cats Good And Sweet (QH), was consigned by Royce Stallcup and purchased by Colette Lesh.
