Hattie Stewart is a young, London-based illustrator with a vibrant, cheeky style. A self-professed “professional doodler”, her unique and playful illustration extends itself through art and fashion - having worked with designers such as House of Holland, Marc Jacobs, and adidas. In recent years, her notoriety has increased due to a project entitled “doodle-bombing” - in which she draws over the covers of influential publications such as Interview, Vogue, i-D and Playboy. She has become one of the world’s most-sought-after illustrators and has worked with Kylie Minogue, the Oscars, Pepsi Max, MTV, Lovebox, and Poppy Lissiman. Her second solo show opens at 6pm tonight (Friday) at No Walls Gallery 114 Church Street, Brighton. In a larger, renovated gallery space, the show includes a series of 100 new illustrations. The exhibition runs until November 15; admission is free. For more information, visit: www.nogallerys.com. Jeremy Corbyn

Economic adviser
Council meeting
A Sussex University academic has been appointed to a team of seven economists who will advise Jeremy Corbyn, the new leader of the Labour Party. In an article yesterday, Mariana Mazzucato gave some early thoughts on the future direction of Labour policy. She wrote: “We must drop the false dichotomy of governments versus markets and begin to think more clearly about the market outcomes we want. “For starters, we must invest in education, human capital, technology, and research.” She talks about raising wages and the standards of living, and making the tax system more progressive. Ms Mazzucato is a professor in Economics of Innovation at the University of Sussex, and advises policy makers around the world on economic growth.
A meeting at Brighton and Hove City Council will be held at the Brighton Centre for the first time later this month. The decision to change the venue from Brighton Town Hall came after concern from disability campaigners that the town hall was not accessible to all. Campaign leaders Steven Devote and Geraldine Des Moulins, said it was undemocratic to hold meetings that are not open to all. As a result, the next full council meeting, on October 22, will be held at the Brighton Centre. Hove Town Hall, which is accessible to disabled residents, is currently being renovated.

droom apartments at Brighton Marina cost £461,000 >> Continued from page 1 Not everyone is excited; some are downright unhappy. One campaigner worried by the effect on property prices that are already prohibitive to many and concerned by the towering scale of the buildings - has warned about a possible “Abu Dhabi by the Sea”. Robert Powell, who spearheaded a long legal battle aimed at halting the development, quoted Michael El-Kassir, general manager of GRE International, who has reportedly said: “Given that 35% of the demand for the Brighton Marina project is expected to arise from foreign investors, the high value-for-money development presents
a lucrative business opportunity for UAE (United Arab Emirates) investors looking to benefit from the positive momentum dominating the UK’s real estate at this time.” Mr Powell has despaired of planners and politicians of all parties. “Is everyone mesmerised by the prospect of 11 tower blocks rising in the Marina that could come to resemble Abu-Dhabi-by-the-Sea?” The development was a star attraction at the Riyadh Real Estate and Urban Development Exhibition in May. GRE Assets said they have appointed Hamptons International as sales agent, “specifically for their knowledge of the UK market for this particular scheme”.

Goodmoney: A good idea - and your must-have Christmas gift voucher for friends and family Greg Hadfield @BrightonIndy Goodmoney has launched its citywide gift voucher scheme to support independent local businesses. The start-up social enterprise has already attracted more than 140 businesses to take part. It aims to sell £100,000-worth of vouchers in the run-up to Christmas, promoting
them as the perfect present. Participating retailers include HiSbe, Lagoon Watersports, Boulder Brighton, and Kooks restaurant. Inspired by the Lewes Pound and the Bristol Pound, Goodmoney will take advantage of what economists call the “local multiplier effect” increasing prosperity by encouraging money to stay circulating within the city rather than being sucked

out by big companies and chain stores. The gift voucher industry in the United Kingdom is worth an estimated £5 billion a year. To mark the start of a #SwitchLocal campaign, Caroline Lucas, the Green MP for Brighton Pavilion, presented £25 gift vouchers to winners of a children’s art competition (pictured): Elijah Oakeshott, Daisy Stansfield, Nola Player, and Rio Carroll. Ms Lucas said: “This scheme will keep money in the local economy and help build upon Brighton’s global reputation as a centre for enterprise and creativity.” Dan Webb, Goodmoney’s managing director, said: “Goodmoney gift vouchers are a great example of what Brighton and Hove’s local businesses can achieve when they come together.” For a full list of participating businesses and to purchase gift vouchers, visit: goodmoney.co.uk.

Looking back and to the future of Brighton Digital Festival Jesse Black Mooney @fruitingbodies It has been an amazing year for Brighton Digital Festival. During September the festival had a recordbreaking 186 events, ranging from conferences and meet-ups, music and comedy, workshops and exhibitions, and a whole lot more. The diversity of events that celebrate digital culture has allowed Brighton Digital Festival and the dedicated community of event organisers to reach out to an audience of thousands - giving them the opportunity to open up to new experiences, ideas, and connections. When I joined as festival manager in 2013, the festival had never internally commissioned education or art programming – now after the second year of programming, and support from Laurence Hill, our arts
coordinator, and Donna Comerford, education coordinator – I can proudly say that the festival is now commissioning new work that resonates with audiences on a global scale. The Waiting Wall by Alan Donohoe and Steven Parker, which was selected as a 2014 newforms commission, has drawn unprecedented coverage and engagement from the public. The project received more than 230,000 page views on its website in September alone, and over 10,000 messages that were shared in the Brighton Station screen installation and online. While The Waiting Wall attracted messages of love, loss, regret, and joy, the message I got from the project is that there is a great desire from the public to reach out, connect, and share. The feedback and coverage that Brighton Digital Festival has had this year points to the festival supporting Brighton’s reputation as a
Celebrity support for hospice art initiative
David Cameron, Frank Skinner, Julian Clary, Alan Titchmarsh, Tony Robinson, and Grayson Perry are some of the celebrities who have produced a piece of art for a Martlets Hospice auction. It is part of the Top Secret Art Project - an exciting exhibition and auction of original A5 sized art produced by celebrities, professional, and amateur artists. The project is “top secret” in that the artists have signed the back of their work - and who has produced which piece of art will not be revealed until after the online auction. There are almost 300 pieces of art in all manner of styles and mediums including oils, watercolours, photographs
and collages. A real eclectic mixture of art and something for all tastes. Elizabeth Baxter, Top Secret Art Project organiser, said: “It's all down to the bidders - they could win a piece by a celebrity or one by a local amateur artist, however we hope that they will bid generously on the art that appeals to them and win something they will love.” All artwork will be displayed in a oneday exhibition which will take place at the Unitarian Church, New Road, Brighton on Sunday, October 11 from 2.30pm – 6pm. The art will then be auctioned online on eBay, until October 15, at www.themartlets.org.uk/ topsecretart
hub of digital excellence. I strongly believe that a thriving digital economy is achievable only when there is considered investment into the cultural landscape of a region - allowing people to engage within an environment that encourages innovation, creativity, and risk-taking. Brighton Digital Festival has worked hard to encourage these values in both our arts and education programming. Highlights from our education strand included working with
the Royal Institution to deliver a series of creative computing masterclasses, to supporting the Spark! Brighton conference, in exploring how technology can enable better educational experiences. These are excellent examples of how the private and public sectors can work together to make amazing things happen. With austerity measures stretching out indefinitely on both a regional and national level, it has been encouraging to see so
many of this year’s festival events arise as a public/ private collaboration - just like the festival itself. This year Brighton Digital Festival was made possible through core funding through Arts Council England and generous support from private enterprises,
including our Premier Sponsor EDF Energy. As I look to the future of Brighton Digital Festival, my hope is that we continue to showcase the incredible passion and creativity of the people in our region, and champion the city as a globally renowned hub of outstanding digital culture.

The chest is funded by brewer Hall and Woodhouse, which owns a string of pubs in the county, and is supported by Sussex Newspapers, the publisher of the Brighton & Hove Independent. He said: “It was a record night as we have never given away as much money to as many organisations as we have tonight and that record will be in place until next year. “Across our areas in Dorset and Sussex we have gone from a pot of £35,000 to £50,000. ‘‘We have been able to help some really good organisations who are doing some really good work. “It is always nice to see people from these organisations collecting their awards and enjoying good food and drink.” The grants awarded to local groups ranged from £300 to £1,500 with organisations pledging to spend the cash on anything

Mad scientists of pop bring parody show to the Dome Since 2008, Frisky and Mannish have been peddling their peculiar brand of musical comedy cabaret all over the world. They’ve appeared at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to great acclaim, the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival, New Zealand International Arts Festival, New York, Berlin, Perth, and Singapore. Touring the UK several times, headlining in London’s West End, the pair stormed the Shepherd’s Bush Empire, which was featured on BBC2’s The Culture Show, and performed live to millions on BBC Radio 1. Now Frisky and Mannish are back with a brand-new tour. They’re all grown up and their barely-conscious re-coupling should mark the beginning of a new pop-comedy-mashup-
infotainment era. Celebrated for a style of parody that uses cleverly crafted and well-received observations on pop music, Frisky and Mannish have been called the “mad scientists of pop, mixing unlikely solutions from incompatible artists and distilling entire genres into their separate elements.” The show, which is part of Brighton Comedy Festival will be held at The Corn Exchange on Saturday, October 10 (9.30pm). Tickets for the show cost £16.50. There is a £2 per order charge. Additional postage charges apply. The show is for people aged 15 and over. For more details call 01273

Lose control with Chantel’s new pantheon of rock riffs Brighton’s rock fans, live music lovers and aspiring musicians can look forward to a performance by Chantel McGregor this month. The guitarist and singer-songwriter is set to perform with her band at Komedia, Gardner Street, on Thursday, October 29, as part of her Lose Control Tour. After four years of touring and plenty of festival appearances, Chantel returns with ten new tracks. These aim to salute contemporary rock while showing the songwriter’s transition from conventional blues to a bolder rock sound with progressive influences. Together the songs form Chantel’s latest album, Lose Control, which is released on Friday, October 9. Lose Control sees Chantel channelling her guitar playing and songwriting into an exciting pantheon of rock crescendos and riffs that aim to leave her devout blues rock fan base in awe. The album should also take fans on a sonic journey, moving into new musical territory, while exploring Chantel’s current obsession with all things Southern Gothic.
Chantel McGregor (Photograph: Keith Newhouse)
interpretation of Southern Gothic is the loss of control, either spiritually, physically (through other people or substances), or emotionally. “I drew on this theme a lot throughout the album, hence the title Lose Control. I wanted the sound and emotion of the album to reflect the concept, so I juxtaposed heavy, guitar riff-based, dark tracks with haunting, emotive acoustic tracks, while tying them together with the lyrical themes of desperation and loss so often seen in Southern Gothic fiction.” The album was recorded, mixed and mastered at Livingstone Brown’s studio in Brixton over six months. Livingstone Brown, (Ed Sheeran, Bryan Ferry,
majority of the bass on the album, with Chantel playing small parts, and her touring drummer Keith McPartling, playing drums for the whole album. Chantel said: “I did the vocals, backing vocals, all guitar parts, arrangements and some production. We brought in two amazing string players - Charlie Brown on the violin and Chris Worsey on the cello. I really enjoyed the creativity the studio gave me and loved venturing into the production and arrangement sides of it, which I will definitely be doing more of in the future.” Advance tickets are £14 (plus booking fee) from 01472 349 222 or visit:

Spectacular Elvis tribute celebrates King’s career Phil Hewitt @BrightonIndy One Night of Elvis starring Lee Memphis King at Brighton’s Theatre Royal on Sunday, October 18, will offer proof positive of Lee’s great belief. “Elvis just had it all!” It’s fast approaching 40 years since Elvis’ death. “But a great song is a great song no matter how long ago, and he just sang great songs,” Lee says. “He was the greatest star. He had everything in spades. He had a great voice, and he looked great. He had great stage presence. He was a real star. “Any song he liked he recorded. I would say there was no formula, but maybe the formula was just liking what he sang. He did rock ’n’ roll and R&B and gospel and country, a great mixture.” Lee was ten when Elvis died. He remembers the day well, his mum calling up with the sad news. Lee was already a fan. “I was always trying to imitate his voice from the
age of about five. I have always been able to imitate people for as long as I can remember. I always wanted to imitate his voice, and I always wanted to go on stage. I’d been trying to do that forever.” But the question was how to achieve that dream – a question answered with
somebody was ill and the opportunity came up. I was asked if I would go and sing at someone’s birthday party in Germany. That was my first-ever performance. Somebody’s sister had wanted an Elvis tribute for her brother’s birthday party. It was scary. It was as scary as you would
I have always been able to imitate people for as long as I can remember” the advent of the internet. “I didn’t have a clue about how to get into show business. There are no manuals. Nobody is going to tell you how, and nobody is going to let you in. But once the internet came along and people started developing websites, then I was able to send off recordings to promoters and to start to make progress. Before that, it was just ‘how the hell do you let people know what you want to do?’ I just had no idea. All I had was this feeling I had to be on stage. “I sent off recordings and
imagine and then ten times that, and then after that I entered a contest, back when I used to think that contests were credible and useful. That was in about 2005. It was at the time the largest contest in the world for Elvis tributes. I won it, and after that I started performing regularly.” He has been touring ever since. Lee hasn’t much time for the tributes and impersonators that turn up for Elvis contests these days: “They are like caricatures of what they think Elvis should be like.”
Dramatic dance piece will explore young man’s dreams and memories Akram Khan’s DESH was an instant hit with audiences and critics alike when it was first presented in 2011. Now,Akram Khan Company and Theatre-Rites director Sue Buckmaster have adapted this much-loved production to create Chotto Desh for children aged seven plus - and it is coming to Brighton. Chotto Desh, meaning “small homeland”, draws on Akram’s unique quality of cross-cultural storytelling, creating a compelling tale of a young man’s dreams and memories from Britain to Bangladesh. Using a magical mix of dance, text, visuals, and sound, Chotto Desh celebrates the resilience of the human spirit in the modern world and promises to be a thrilling and poignant dance theatre experience. Akram Khan Company is one of the foremost innovative dance companies in the world. Inspired by Akram Khan’s early training in the Indian classical dance form Kathak, and the hybrid language that organically emerged when Akram’s kathak training encountered contemporary dance, the company is fuelled
Lee Memphis King as Elvis Presley
He did a contest much more recently, and it was an awful experience: “It was just stereotypical Elvis impersonators, fat dads with dyed black hair.” That’s not the way to do it: “You have just got to look at the man, look at the film of him performing.” Lee reckons Elvis was at his peak from ’68 to ’72, the comeback after nine years of awful films. “Elvis hated the films,
and I can’t watch them either.” But he came back at his best, Lee believes: “He looked great. He was singing great.” His decline was only in the last 18 months of his life, the result of a mix of ailments and the prescription drugs he was taking for them: “It was that combination that got him in the end, I think.” But, as Lee says, there
was a TV programme that examined his genes and determined that with his dodgy ticker, he was always likely to die sometime around then anyway… Visit www.leememphisking. com to find out more. What is it like to have a winner’s mentality but not a winner’s confidence? To be an insecure but arrogant teenager, living in a bubble and discovering that adults lie? In her debut hour, Bubblewrap, Sofie discusses mental health, body image, fighting the system, a shower cabinet...and Westlife. Revered in her home country, Sofie was chosen to perform at the prestigious 1700+ capacity Royal Opera House for the Danish Comedy Gala in 2012 as ‘The New Hopes of

The Greatest Music of The 20th Century.
Xiu Xiu is an American experimental noisepop group originally from San Jose, California.
The Foster’s Golden Jesters Award finalists, Laughing Horse New Act of the Year 2014 semifinalists, and Brighton Fringe Best Comedy Show nominees are presenting their second show, ‘Woof’. Audiences can expect delightfully awkward
characters, endearingly grotesque sketches and memorable songs that they will be singing for days. Kitten Killers are Fran Bushe, Kat Cade and Perdita Stott. They formed in April 2013 after they met at Soho Theatre’s SYC (Soho Young Company) classes. Since then they have enjoyed success on the London circuit, a sell-out Camden Fringe run and two years at the Edinburgh Fringe with Underbelly. Performances start at 9.30pm. The Johnston Press Business Awards 2015
Headline sponsor
Our gala night on October 2 celebrates the overall winners from all the JP Business Awards trophy winners in the south
Your achievement becomes our reward SPONSOR’S ANNOUNCEMENT
Rewards Training , sponsor of the Training and Development prize in the JP South Business Awards, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2014 with contract growth, staff celebrations and the highly desirable “good” grading from Ofsted. Congratulations go to our CEO Marion Ward on winning the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Business Matters Awards back in July. Marion was chosen by an independent panel of judges representing the business community, for helping people across our community to achieve their goals and find work, throughout the last 25 years! Company founder Marion is committed to lifelong learning and believes this is the key to success. In July this year, Marion achieved the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management Diploma. She said: “Learning knows no barriers. The company’s history is one of adaptation, change
How to get involved
Members of the team at Rewards Training and growth, and has evolved to become a leading light in the area of work based business skills learning, since June 1989 when Rewards first opened its doors to help women upskill and find work. This need for upskilling still exists today amongst women”. In the early 1990s when the recession was biting hard Rewards was awarded a contract by the Manpower Services Commission for the upskilling and retraining of men who had been made redundant and young unemployed graduates who couldn’t find work. At that time personal computers (PCs) were gaining a stronghold as everyday business moved away from mainframe computers so the training offer was then broadened to include computer software training.
This encouraged a move away from the secretarial bias of earlier times to one of a computer and administration bias, available to people regardless of gender and age. The business grew rapidly and expanded geographically during the mid-1990s. Adapting to different clients, different training requirements and different geographical locations, Rewards’ product range also widened to include our now flagship, “Apprenticeships” and much sought- after management training through ILM. Being based in Crawley, Rewards has built up an enviable reputation in the area of workbasedtraining and upskilling individuals’ skills. “We are especially grateful to Sir Nicholas Soames, MP for
Mid Sussex and Henry Smith our local MP in Crawley for their support during the various openings of new premises and attending our award ceremonies hosted in recognition of learner achievements, throughout the years” Rewards Training provides training, recruitment and consultancy services for businesses across Crawley and the south east. Rewards specialises in business administration, customer service, IT, leadership management and team leading, professional cookery and hospitality, and health and social care. Our contracts with the Skills Funding Agency and other local development funds can help secure funding for the training you need. Companies and individuals can benefit from our services. n For further information see our website www. rewardstraining.co.uk or call 01293 224225. The Johnston Press
Business Awards bring together winners from Johnston Press titles’ own award winners. It is NOT possible to enter these awards – the finalists are companies that have already demonstrated their excellence by winning an award associated with one of our newspaper titles during 2014/2015.

First Drive: Toyota Auris A stalwart of the Toyota range, the company’s refreshed Auris boasts cleaner engines, an exterior refresh and a much improved cabin environment. What’s new? The Auris might be a familiar sight on our roads, but if you look closely you’ll see that this particular generation has been given a light refresh. There wasn’t really anything wrong with its predecessor, but that hasn’t stopped Toyota from embarking on a series of some small and not so small improvements. As a result, the Auris is now powered by a selection of new or improved engines - petrol and diesel. Of note is an all-new 1.2-litre turbo petrol motor, while a new 1.6-litre diesel partners the firm’s refreshed 1.4-litre oil-burner. Hybrid accounts for the bulk of sales and in petrolelectric guise the Auris
has also been tweaked to deliver reduced emissions and fuel consumption. Elsewhere there are small visual changes to the car’s nose and tail, while cabin quality and kit levels have also been raised.
Looks and image A solid performer, it’s popular with its loyal fanbase, and the car’s ace card - the hybrid variant - is a strong seller in both private and business circles. Cabin quality and refinement have been improved, which is always welcome, while the car’s slightly edgy styling goes a long way to challenge the perception that the Auris is a car only for silver-haired owners. Space and practicality In default hatchback guise the Auris offers occupants good levels of space fore and aft. Up front there’s ample room and plenty of oddment storage
options, while those in the back are unlikely to feel compromised as head and legroom is respectable even for-adults. At the back the car’s boot is a reasonable size, plus there’s the added convenience of being able to fold the rear seats to liberate more space for larger loads.
Behind the wheel Don’t expect the Auris to set the world alight on the open road; Toyota’s pitch is more of an all-rounder that’s focused on comfort, ease of use and low running costs. In that context the family hatch performs well. The numerous subtle revisions to the driving experience improving steering weight and feedback, revised suspension settings all add up to delivering a more engaging and responsive performance on a wide range of roads and surfaces. And while the new engines - 1.2 petrol and 1.6
diesel - are fine performers around town and on the motorway respectively, the hybrid option remains the class act in the Auris line-up. A little cleaner and more economical, this petrol-electric setup delivers a relaxing and refined performance, with the bonus of near-silent electric running in short bursts, further enhancing its appeal for urban journeys. Value for money There are cheaper cars in this class but the Auris is a tempting proposition thanks in part to its ease of use, low cost of ownership potential and durable yet refined cabin. Toyota has upped the standard equipment and added some choice extras such as a fullon nav and infotainment system depending on trim grade and a clever auto brake function that helps mitigate collisions at low speed. Also, you can’t

mention Toyota without considering the hybrid option, which is a no brainer for business users and could save private buyers a big chunk of cash if they’re willing to do the sums. Who would buy one? For all the car’s rakish looks, the Auris does attract buyers at the conservative end of the spectrum. Far from being a negative point, it proves that brand loyalty is strong and Toyota
has a good handle on what its buyers want from a car. The result is a well thought out cabin, easy to use audio and navigation features and enough space for most everyday tasks. And if you’re of a green persuasion, the Auris hybrid is one of the easiest alternative fuel cars to live with on the market. There’s no need to recharge it yet it’ll deliver tax-busting economy with ease. This car summed up in a single word: dependable

Where to see the Brighton Belles point along the 60-mile route offers completely free viewing allowing everyone to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of more than 400 veterans as they ‘put-put’ their way to Brighton. Although the run follows more or less the same route as last year, there have been a few changes to make it even better for participants and spectators alike. The first cars will start at Hyde Park Corner at first light (6.54am) where the route takes them through Wellington Arch and down Constitution Hill to pass Buckingham Palace before they head down The Mall. From The Mall, the cars will turn right onto Horse Guards Road before turning left onto Birdcage Walk, heading towards the Houses of Parliament and We s t m i n s t e r Bridge. Once south of the river, the cars will turn right One of the vintage cars taking part As many as half a million spectators will line the route of the Bonhams London to Brighton Veteran Car Run this November, when the longest running motoring event in the world sets off on its annual adventure from London to Brighton (Sunday, November 1). Like the hardy teams piloting their amazing horseless carriages from the capital to the coast, the spectators brave whatever the weather conjures up to salute motoring’s pioneers: every car taking part was built before 1905. Best of all, every vantage
onto Lambeth Palace Road before turning left by the Palace towards the Imperial War Museum where they join the A23 to head south towards Croydon, Purley, Redhill, Crawley, and on to Brighton. One popular viewing point just south of Redhill is at the A23 Brighton Road crossroads with Hooley Lane. This is a long incline that really tests the cars’ stamina: the first cars are expected here from 7.50am until around 11.30am. Like last year, the participants will benefit from a pit stop in Crawley, courtesy of Harrods and Gatwick Honda. The dealer will clear its forecourt and service bays of modern cars to allow drivers and mechanics to fettle their steeds while passengers enjoy a warming drink. Due to lack of spectator viewing points, the time control checkpoint has been reintroduced into nearby Crawley High Street to allow fans to get up close to the cars. This will be the vantage point for spectators.
A knowledgeable commentary team will be on-hand in the High Street to give spectators some background on each car as it passes through. The first cars are expected to head off from 8.15am with the last leaving at about 1.45pm. As the journey continues, the next popular vantage point is the village of Cuckfield where the pubs open early - for teas, coffees and soft drinks. Cars will be passing through here between 8.45am and 2.30pm before heading through Burgess Hill between 8.55am and 3pm and reaching their destination at Brighton. Another change this year sees the official finish moving to Madeira Drive, the site of the traditional ceremonial finish. The first cars are expected from 9.54am and all will be able to use bus lanes on Brighton’s Grand Parade to ease their passage to the sea front. The event also attracts owners of classic cars who head out in support of the run. MGs, Morgans,

Rolls-Royces, and Bentleys gather outside The Jolly Tanners and The Victory Inn by the village green in Staplefield as their owners cheer the veterans through. Members of the Panhard Club GB and Lotus 7 Club do the same at Handcross, just south of Crawley. Neil Carr-Jones, clerk of the course, said: “Interest in the Veteran Car Run is higher than ever and the minor changes we have made to the route are designed not just to make life easier for the participants - you’ve got to remember these cars are all over 110 years old - but also to make it even more

inviting to spectators. “For anyone interested in the history of motoring and how the invention of the horseless carriage has shaped our lives, this is the greatest show on earth.” There will be even greater spectator involvement on the run this year. A social media campaign on the day will encourage spectators to vote for the crew dressed in the best period costume. The crew with the most nominations will win the Best Period Dress award.
