Inspiring creativity. Enriching lives. With a rich history spanning 200 years (starting life as the Prince Regent’s stables and riding house) Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival is the largest arts charity in the south east, recognised globally as well as being at the heart of our community and our city as part of the Royal Pavilion Estate. We present and produce over 600 events every year reaching 1 in 3.5 households in the city and beyond and audiences of over 600,000. Each May we produce Brighton Festival, the largest curated arts festival in England. Renowned for its ambitious and daring programme that aims to make the most of the city’s distinctive cultural atmosphere, Brighton Festival has become one of the city’s most enduring symbols of inventiveness and celebration over the past 50 years. Taking place in venues both familiar and unusual across Brighton & Hove, Brighton Festival draws some of the most innovative artists and adventurous audiences from across the UK and the world.
‘The defining moment in the Festival year’ The Guardian
Growing creativity. Developing skills for life. Through our creative learning projects and family programme, we inspire and grow creativity in over 200,000 people every year. We are committed to finding imaginative new ways to discover and take part in the arts; we produce workshops, drop in events, open days and tours alongside more specific outreach projects aimed at building brighter futures for children & young people in our city.
Nurturing young talent In 2017 we united with Brighton & Hove Music & Arts and provide music education and performance opportunities to over 4,000 young people. This means we can offer more chances for younger generations to enjoy and be enriched by cultural experiences. SPECTRUM is our project nurturing and developing our vibrant local music scene, supporting young musicians by giving them the opportunity to play to a live audience at a professional venue, supported by expert technicians and marketing. Our city is brimming with musical talent of all genres and we’re committed to celebrating it and offering the perfect platform for acts to be seen and heard.

Unforgettable moments Our Umbrella Club gives away hundreds of tickets to young people with life-shortening conditions and their families giving them the opportunity to come along to lots of different shows at Brighton Dome. Umbrella Club ensures that these families have continued access to the arts as well as the chance to create some brilliant memories together.
‘It’s lovely to know that what we are going to see will be suitable for everyone, and that my disabled son will be able to relax and enjoy the show with his brothers. My son is waiting for spinal surgery and everyone is pretty anxious about it, so it was really helpful to have a special event to go to so that we could all just forget about it for a while. Thank you!’
Bringing communities together
A safe space
Our annual Brighton Festival Children’s Parade invites 5,000 children from across the city to take part in an open-air fiesta of colour, costume and live music. The event has become a Brighton institution: in partnership with Same Sky we work with parents, teachers, artists, musicians, and choreographers from November to May to help children from 80+ schools deliver the most spectacular parade through the streets of central Brighton that is cheered on by 20,000 spectators.
Our flagship outreach project, Miss Represented, works with young women in the city who face challenging life situations. Through the arts and pastoral care, Miss Represented provides a safe space in which its members can explore their experiences and gain a deeper understanding of the world around them. The programme has been so successful that it has toured other arts venues and schools in the UK, with two of the first members becoming mentors to younger generations.
‘We love it! It brings the city to life, the community together and children get to show off their imagination and creativity’ 2018 Audience member Launched by Kate Tempest in 2017 – Your Place is a minifestival within Brighton Festival hosted by local community centres, and programmed in collaboration with local residents and artists in Hangleton and East Brighton. ‘Griffith Smith LLP is delighted to sponsor Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival. We have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Festival and wanted to continue being part of such a fun and innovative programme. We strongly believe in supporting our local community and being part of such a high-profile venue and event is great for the firm and for our staff. We are a modern practice with traditional values and feel that this resonates with Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival perfectly. As Thomas Merton quotes: ‘Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves all at the same time.’
‘Brighton Dome and Festival has provided us with a great opportunity for local and regional engagement. We have really valued the work to create value through our sponsorship by identifying opportunities to align our involvement with relevant elements of your programme – for example accessible performances and international programme. The team have always taken the time to explore and understand our priorities and identify creative opportunities to meet our expectations and provided excellent support at the various events we have attended, creating opportunities for us to meet key stakeholders, and making introductions. Beyond all of that, it has simply been a pleasure to work with such a passionate and committed team.’ Alison Addy – Head of Community Engagement Gatwick Airport Limited
