Property Edition
utumn is traditionally the busiest time for the property market, and there certainly seems to be lots going on in Bury this month. Our cover property is just one of the beautiful homes we’ve got featured inside, and occupies a lovely rural location in Stanningfield. Dating from the 16th century, it’s got heaps of character and lots of original features intact, plus a handy studio/home office too. Read more on page 6. Also out of town, we’ve found two impressive barn conversions which offer spacious accommodation for an average-sized family. There’s one in Whepstead, which has beautiful bright interiors and stunning countryside views,
and another in Westley, offering lovely accommodation and a charming garden. Moving back into town, there are a couple of gems to make note of if you’re after somewhere more in the thick of it. A particularly fine one can be found in Southgate Street, offering elegant accommodation over three storeys. Despite its town centre location, it also benefits from a stunning garden. A smaller but no less charming townhouse is also for sale in College Street; a perfect choice for a first- or secondtime buyer. It comes with two bedrooms and has recently been restored, and is situated right in the heart of the historic town centre. For details of these, and more, read on!

Unusual find for agents
Specialist estate agents Sheridans are currently restoring a 17th century building in Hall Street, Long Melford, which will soon become their much-awaited Long Melford branch. The company, who have been established in Bury for over ten years, also made the interesting discovery of a historic medieval wall while restoration was taking place. “The wall is such a find,” says Iain Speed, sales negotiator at Sheridans. “It probably has not been seen for hundreds and hundreds of years and is such a wonderful example of timber frame vernacular, including an original medieval arched doorway, thought to have once formed part of a parlour chamber. “We are delighted that this once-lost feature will now be proudly on display within the Long Melford office, which is due to open in October.” Sheridans are specialists in the sale of period and individual homes and first opened in Bury St Edmunds in 2002.
