LE CONCERT VIRTUEL DES FÊTES - HOLIDAYS VIRTUAL CONCERT

Chaque année, les étudiants du studio de musique de Broadway Productions travaillent fort pour organiser un récital de Noël. Cette année, en raison de COVID-19, ils n'ont pas pu organiser leur concert annuel. Claudie et moi sommes des étudiantes du studio et avons récemment commencé à travailler avec Labos Créatifs. Lorsqu'il est venu le temps de décider d'un projet pour Noël, la première chose qui nous est venue à l’idée fut un concert de Noël virtuel. Nous en avons parlé avec Irma Mulherin (ma mère), la propriétaire de Broadway Productions, et elle a accepté de s'associer avec Labos Créatifs pour rendre quelque chose possible pour les élèves.

Beaucoup de travail a été consacré à la préparation du concert. Comme nous ne pouvions pas réunir tous les enfants dans le studio, nous avons planifié une semaine où nous enregistrerions chaque élève pendant leurs cours pour ensuite faire un montage vidéo pour en faire un seul concert. Pour que la journée d'enregistrement ressemble davantage à un concert, nous avons décidé de faire des décors avec de l'artisanat. Quelques enfants de la garderie Les amis de Madi ont fabriqué des flocons de neige avec Claudie et JP Bouchard, et sa famille a fabriqué des arbres de Noël avec des palettes de bois recyclé et des restes de peinture.

Au cours de ce projet, j'ai eu la chance de travailler avec Dax Dubé, un élève de 5 ans atteint d'autisme qui montre un grand intérêt pour la musique. Il a créé son propre piano que nous avons ensuite connecté au Makey Makey présenté lors du concert. Nous avons également eu beaucoup de plaisir à connecter le Makey Makey avec des cuillères et des bananes.

Claudie Ladouceur editing the concert. Pendant le concert, nous avons décidé d'intégrer un défi pour les élèves, leur famille et leurs amis. Ils avaient une semaine pour fabriquer un ornement à partir de matières recyclables dans la maison. Chaque élève ayant créé son propre ornement a vu son nom inscrit dans un tirage au sort pour gagner un Makey Makey.

À ce jour, le concert a reçu plus de 750 visites et a été très apprécié par les élèves et les familles.

Every year, students of Broadway Productions Music Studio work hard to put on a Christmas recital. This year due to COVID-19, they were unable to put on their annual concert. Claudie and I are both students of the studio and recently have both started working with Brilliant Labs. When it came to decide on a Christmas project, the first thing that came to mind was a virtual christmas concert. We talked with Irma Mulherin (my mom), the owner of Broadway Productions, about the idea and she agreed to partner with Brilliant Labs and make something possible for the students.

Lots of work was put into preparing for the concert. As we were unable to have all kids together in the studio we planned a week where we would record each and every student during their private lesson time and later edited them together as one concert. To make the recording day feel more like a concert, we decided to make a backdrop out of crafts. We had a few kids from Madis Friends Daycare who made snowflake crafts with Claudie and JP Bouchard, and his family, made Christmas trees out of recycled wood pallets and leftover, donated, paint.

During this project, I had the chance to work with Dax Dubé, a 5 year old student with autism who shows a great interest in music. He created his own piano that we then connected to the Makey Makey featured in the concert. We also had a great time connecting the Makey Makey with spoons and bananas.

During the concert, we decided to incorporate a challenge for the students, family and friends. They had a week to make an ornament out of recyclables around the house. Each student that created their own ornament had their name put in a draw to win a Makey Makey.

To date, the concert has received over 750 views and was greatly appreciated by students and families.
