War Memorial Library
A generous $250,000 donation from the BGS Parents and Friends’ Auxiliary to rejuvenate the War Memorial precinct has transformed the heart of the School, with new gardens and improved social spaces around the tuckshop.
The Old Boys Association (BGSOBA) has also contributed $10,000 and is driving fundraising efforts that will go towards the War Memorial Library building restoration.
A memorial path from Gregory Terrace that pays tribute to the School’s military history has also been laid.
Inside the War Memorial Library building itself there are plans to host exhibits to educate today’s students about previous conflicts in which Old Boys served.
It is fitting that these enhancements will be completed for Remembrance Day 2018, when we will commemorate 100 years since the end of the First World War.
The War Memorial Library continues to honour the 1022 Old Boys and teachers who served in WWI, and provides accessible, living history to the boys attending BGS today.
