WELCOME WELCOME TO BRISTOL PRIDE 2014, A WEEK-LONG SERIES OF EVENTS ACROSS BRISTOL SHOWCASING LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER (LGBT) LIFE AND CULTURE. Pride Week returns creating fun, exciting and engaging events that welcome everyone, to join us and help promote equality and acceptance for all. We have programmed special events this year to explore some the inequalities and complex social challenges that still need to be overcome. It’s been a busy year since Pride 2013, our biggest festival to date! We won a number of awards including UK no2 Best Pride (Co-op Respect Awards). We’ve seen marriage equality come into effect, however we’ve also seen some very hateful responses to this. That’s why we continue to work all year round challenging discrimination and raising awareness of our community. We’re really excited for Pride 2014 and as ever it’s been hard work, Pride costs thousands of pounds to put on and sadly we simply didn’t get enough donations last year. To continue Bristol Pride and keep Pride Day a free event so that no one is excluded people must donate. Make a donation of £3 on Pride Day and we will have the resources to continue and improve, if not unfortunately we will have to scale back and cancel events or Pride charges and that intern increases costs meaning tickets prices will be high. We do have a fantastic way for you to support Pride and get great benefits! Why not get a Pride Supporter Ticket? Just £5 for the Day you get discounted bar and food prices all day as well as reduced Skate Hire for the Roller Disco. We also offer £15 Day+Night passes which also includes the Pride afterparty at the O2 and free entry to the Queenshilling. Most importantly you’re helping make Pride happen and supporting our 2014 charity PACE. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to Pride this year and hope you can join our celebrations across the week as well as the South West’s most vibrant parade and Pride Day festival which remains one of the best and only free Pride events in the UK. However you celebrate...... BE PROUD! Daryn J Carter Festival Director and Programmer
