Filmmaking / Animation
About I am a multidisciplinary filmmaker. During my time at UWE I studied Filmmaking and Creative Media with Animation. I have developed my skills in directing drama and documentary combined with camera, cinematography, editing and sound design. These skills are adaptable to the requirements needed to make a variety of projects to a professional standard. Filmmaking has taught me the transferable skills of directing, organization, teamwork and a full appreciation of working towards a strict deadline. I have a background in art and habitually use a sketchbook as a useful way to creatively develop concepts. I naturally use drawing and painting to record and collect initial ideas and have found these skills lend themselves to my animation work. My experience in animation has been focused on material based stop motion with some digital experience. I feel the aesthetic beauty of my work to be most important in effecting the main message or theme, which I hope is always meaningful.
Digital My first animation tells the story behind the celebration of Chinese Moon Festival. Made from traditional joss paper and fabric. Hand drawn and designed in Photoshop and composited in after effects.
Stop-Motion
CLAWS a material based stop motion group animation. My role in this project was director, set design and animator. I had fun painting the sets and making all the different characters in the bar scene.

Plenty Less Fish in the Sea The idea behind this animation is to subtly convey a message concerning how much plastic we use. Showing where discarded plastic ends up. This alternative approach to the issue not only allows the audience to make their own opinion regarding recycling but to have a emotional connection to the characters The process of this animation is made handmade under camera in stop motion pro. The fish and bird characters are handmade with steel, copper and jewelry loops and chains. Everything else is collected ‘rubbish’. Animated fully under camera, there are no digital tricks, keeping with the organic theme.
