Animation is a form of art that is limitless in form and it is though the unusual that this idea can take full potential

Gamma scape is a traditionally drawn 2D animated graduate short film. Digitally colour and composited on the computer it combines both modern and classical processes. Written by George Johnson and created by George Johnson and Tom Norman the film delves into a surreal landscape produced by a chance incident with a cat and a microwave. Resulting in the microwave becoming a portal for the two main characters of this film (a man and his cat) getting transported to another world.

Cycles or ‘Ouroboros’ is a hand drawn and partly hand coloured animation that is without real narrative content but rather floats on the motif of perpetually cyclic events. One of these motifs is the symbol of a snake eating itself (ouroboros) that is the begging and end shot of the film. The snake also is a visual narrator as it can be seen slinking and winding into most of the films shots throughout.

The end result is a fictional based work that takes place in a world of factual figures and animals spliced into scenes of impossible factories and modes of transport. Chinese opera masks employes on conveyer belts, tigers with crates on there back swimming to distant shores delivering there imports. The lighting in this work used long exposure photos that gives a lot of control over the points at which light can be shone on the surface resulting in a organic feel to the film.
