' Market Stall Dress-up' Interactive media, 2011 'Market Stall Dress-up' is a not too-serious paper-doll style dress up game, updated with new fashions and trends. Based on a market-stall scenario, the player can choose from many cute, novelty knitted hats and accessories, many of them making subtle nods to current tends and fashions. My aim for this project was to make a game with a more sophisticated art direction. I was able to do this by aiming both towards young adults, that will appreciate it's nostalgia and references to popular culture, and at pre-teens, who will appreciate the game-play style and recognize these fashions from their older role-models, such as older bothers and sisters. Run! Interactive media project, traditional and digital animation 2012. 'Run!' is a game played between the player and 'Everett', a small, shy and diminutive bird. This game begins when the Everett steps meekly out, gradually gaining more confidence the longer that he stays- that is, until the player makes a move! My aim with the project was to create a game with an absolutely minimal interface, instead relying on character acting, animation and the element of surprise. The result is a game that can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of their technical expertise. Run! is available online at: www.rebeccadeakin.com/projects/run/

Make Your Own Monster! Interactive Media Project, 2011 - 2012
Aimed towards young children, this game gives the player the opportunity to 'make' their own fantastical creature, from a selection of colourful, cute, but 'monsterish' body parts. Mixing interactive media and creative play, I was able to create a interactive colouring book, allowing for the game to continue after the player has logged off of the computer. Happy Birthday! Animation, 2012 Medium: Animation in Adobe Flash Invite a bunch of 'party animals' to your birthday with this animated e-card. Drawing inspiration from conventional paper cards, pop-up cards and paper-cut outs, this card mixes traditional paper print with animation. Firefly 2D Traditional Animation, 2010 - 2011 Working with Sarah Cant and Robyn Liebschner, we were able to made a short animation together. 'Firefly' is a short insight into a strange forest, whose inhabitants - the 'Weebla-Gorgui', share a peculiar relationship with it's flora. As background artist and environment designer, my aim was to create a particularly striking environment for the main characters to interact with, and a set of weird and wonderful bioluminescent plants to go in it.
