Start date: 1st August 2022 - 9th June 2023 Duration: 11 months ( 8 weeks Pre-sessional English plus 30 weeks tuition and exam) Average tuition/wk: 20 hours Entry requirements: IELTS 4.5 & country specific high school score

JANUARY INTAKE Accelerated Programme

Start date: 9th January 2023 - 11th July 2023 Duration: 7 months (27 weeks total made up of 22 weeks tuition and exam plus holidays) Average tuition/wk: 25 hours Entry requirements: IELTS 5.5 & country specific high school score


Who is it for? The Business Foundation Year is the perfect pathway for students that want to pursue a business-related programme at university. The course is designed to prepare you for your first year of an undergraduate degree, both in terms of subject knowledge and the skills needed for autonomous learning.

English for Academic Purposes

Economics

This NCUK module is closely integrated with your subject modules to help you build good practice in academic work.

An introduction to basic economic concepts and principles, mostly focused on UK experiences in preparation for university. The first semester will deal with “micro” economic issues and the second semester will deal with “macro” economic issues.

Module aims: • Achieve the English language and academic skills required by UK university programmes. • Take responsibility for own learning • Introduce the planning and organisation skills to develop as independent, autonomous learners. Key areas covered in the syllabus: • Listening – understanding, note taking, summarising • Reading – annotation of text, paraphrasing, summarising and commenting • Writing – pre-writing skills, subject specific essays, referencing

Business Studies This module provides a solid grounding in many aspects of business studies and helps students prepare for an undergraduate course related to business management. Module aims:

Module aims: • To develop key knowledge and understanding of economic concepts and principles in a national and global economic environment. • To encourage students to analyse, explain and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the market economy and the role of government within it. Key areas covered in the syllabus: • Supply and demand • The functions of price and price determination • Inter relationship between markets

• Production in the long and short run • Monopolies and oligopolies • Macroeconomics • Inflation • Fiscal policy

Maths

• Develop the knowledge and understanding required for the successful study of Business Studies and related Social Science disciplines at undergraduate level.

The overall aim of this course is to equip students with the mathematical knowledge and skills necessary for entry to the first year of any UK/ Western undergraduate degree course.

• Gain an understanding of the three key functional areas of business (marketing, accounting & finance and human resource management) as well as the external environment in which UK businesses operate and the topical issues which affect them.
