How we See the Future Maria Moutzouri, MI4 I don’t think I’ll find a good job because of the problems with money and the situation in Greece. I hope I find a new home in the countryside. I
can’t predict more things about the future, so I’ll just wait to know more facts in the present! Nick Lagouros, MI4
Alexandros Lionis, MI4 In my opinion,
in some years there won’t be an economic crisis in Greece.
Life in the future might be better. People will be rich. Young people will be able to study at University and after that, they will be able to find a good job. I hope there will be a lot of opportunities for young people to have a good life. I am optimistic about the future. Evi Chaviari, MI4 I hope that there will be flying machines, something like rockets. You will wear them on your back and fly away. Everyone will have one! Many animals might disappear, but if we stop polluting the environment,
I think that in the future people will love one another. I hope there won’t be cars, buses or trains. On the roads, children will play with a lot of toys. All the animals will be very friendly. The children of Africa will have enough water and food. I
love the future and I want it to come quickly!
they might not. A
lot of people will visit the Moon and other planets. There might
be space buses which will travel from the earth to other planets. I also think that, in a thousand years, robots will live with us. I’m optimistic about the future!
Artemis Iossif, MI4 I hope I find an interesting job, but don’t think I’ll get a lot of money because we have an economic crisis. I think that
a lot of people will move to other countries. in the future

Stories A Day on the Coast George Dalmiras, MI5
Mr. Tedinger saw a tall girl with tired blue eyes and wet blonde hair trying to unlock the door of his house. ‘It’s Poly!’, he said. He opened the door, he made some tea and took Poly to her bed. Poly fell asleep. When she woke up, she ran to Mr. Tedinger. ‘Show me the special thing!’ she said. Mr. Tedinger took Poly to a secret room. Poly opened 40 doors (door after door) and went into a big castle. She opened the first door of the castle and in the room there was a letter: “Poly, if you are reading this letter, it means I’m dead. If you’re over 15, you must know the truth.
You’re not like all the others. You are a princess and this is your kingdom.’ Poly was excited. A princess? But I’ll always remember the day I visited the old house by the sea. It was a cold autumn night and I was with my best friend Aristidis and our families. We were near the marina of Zea in Pireus. Suddenly Aristidis asked me ‘Can you see that old house?’ The house had two floors and a roof. On the fence of the house there was a sign saying ‘Keep Out’. But my friend and I took the risk of going into the old house. When we got in,
we heard screams, bats flying
and windows knocking in the wind! Then the lights went out and two ghosts started chasing us and we called our parents, who were outside. After a while, they came with the Greek police and the Gr.A-G.T. (Greek Anti-Ghost Team). Finally, they caught the ghosts and we were heroes!!!
The Secret Room Evi Chaviari, MI4 In 1868, in the city of London, a little baby was born at midnight. It was a girl, a very pretty girt. She had blue eyes and blonde hair. Her parents were very rich and they gave the little girl everything she wanted. When the girl was 15, her father had a heart attack and died. After that, Poly’s mother got ill because of her grief. Before she died, she said to her daughter, ‘Go to Mr. Tedinger. He will show you something special.’ Then she died. Poly ran away from her home, far, far away. One day, a few weeks after Poly left,
why? She opened another door. There was a letter in this room, too. ‘Did my dad write that?’ she asked. ‘Yes, Poly. You are a princess now’, Mr. Tedinger said and then he disappeared. After that, an old man with a white beard, like a wizard, appeared. ‘Come with me’, he said. Poly followed him and he showed her her castle: 70 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, 2 living rooms and 2,000 soldiers, but only one horse. It was a strong, white horse with long hair. Poly went towards it. ‘No! Don’t go there!’ the old man said, so Poly left the horse. The years passed and Poly was now 30 years old. Her kingdom was wonderful and full of love. But only one person didn’t have love: Poly would be a queen without a king next to her. She never stopped thinking about that horse. One day, she decided to go and ride the horse. It was a sunny day and she started talking to the horse like her best friend. The horse’s name was Paul. He understood everything Poly said but he couldn’t answer. Then, one day, Poly got lost in the forest, but her horse jumped over the trees and saved her. She gave him a big kiss and then something amazing happened: the horse became a prince! Poly and Paul fell in love with each other, they married and they had a little princess.
The Alien Dog
The Princess and the Horse
Vassilis Vogiatzis, MI4
Athina Bekou, MI4 Some years ago, there was a princess who wanted to become a queen. But, to get the Queen’s title, she had to find the
most beautiful horse in the kingdom. A
week before the big celebration, she went with
It was 12 noon and I was in the park. As I was playing football, I saw a strange dog – I thought it was an alien! The dog started running and I started, too. We kept running through parks and docks. People were staring at me and they were probably wondering why I was chasing that strange dog. Half an hour later, I finally reached it…But when
I caught the dog, my hands turned green!
When I looked at the dog, the dog was brown. I couldn’t believe what was happening. Why were my hands green while the dog was a different colour? Did I have an alien illness? A few minutes later I saw that…the dog was painted and it was wearing an alien’s costume!
her sister to find their horses. Her sister chose a beautiful, strong, fast horse with long black hair. But there wasn’t a pretty enough horse for the princess. The days were passing and, the day before the celebration, the princess took a little walk around the castle and she found a secret room. Inside, there was a very pretty white horse. She let it free and she chose it for herself. The next day she became a Queen, because she had the prettiest horse.
School Jokes Student: I'm tired of doing homework! Teacher: Listen, hard work never killed anyone. Student: I know, but I don't want to be the first! Teacher: Tom, I'm happy to see that your handwriting has improved. Tom: Thank you! Teacher: But now I can see how bad your spelling is!
Teacher: Helen, how do you spell "crocodile"? Helen: "K-R-O-K-O-DA-I-L" Teacher: No, that's wrong! Helen: Maybe it's wrong, but you asked me how I spell it!

Music I listen to rock music and my favourite groups are: Paramore, Evanescence, 30 Seconds to Mars and Blink 182.

How does the World see Greece? Maritina Denissi, MI4 People imagine that Greece is a beautiful country where the sun shines every day, the sky is always blue and the sea is always calm, where the streets are full of people singing and dancing. This is true! Even now with the crisis,
we still have our history, our good weather and our strong spirit!
Dimitris Kokkotas, MI4 I believe tourists have two different opinions about Greece. Some think positively, They adore the beautiful sun, they love our
enjoy the hospitality of Greek people. But beaches and
some believe that we are untruthful and
lazy people. In addition, they say we are dirty. I hope that most people hold the first opinion!
John Verriopoulos, MI4 They think about the Parthenon, the Acropolis and other ancient monuments, shops with honey, nuts and jam,
narrow streets with small houses,
a lot of churches and squares.
Nick Lagouros, MI4 When they think about Greece, most people in the world think about the delicious ‘souvlaki’ and when they come to Greece, they eat it! But
in the last two years the
economic crisis has ‘killed’ our country.
Alexandros Lionis, MI4
People imagine Greeks are very
friendly and hospitable
but not very hardworking. They think Greeks go out to tavernas and bars and enjoy their life.
Artemis Iossif, MI4 People think about great dishes like moussaka, tzatziki and souvlaki, then they think about mythology and the ancient gods. They think Greeks
make fantastic food and swim very well.
Maria Moutzouri, MI4 Something that people from other countries admire in Greece is the food (like souvlaki), the beaches and the Acropolis. But the
Greek beaches aren’t always clean, because the people who visit them don’t always clean their rubbish. They sometimes leave it on the sand.
Julia Florou MI4 They certainly think
about the Olympic
Games, because
they were born in Greece. Unfortunately, they also think about the economic crisis, because the last 2 years have been a hard time for us.
Evi Chaviari, MI4
Nicholas Depountis, MI4
Some people imagine that Greek people can sometimes be rude, but a lot of people think
that they are friendly
and helpful.
Athina Bekou, MI4 When people think about Greece, they think about the Acropolis and the Parthenon and probably think about Greek islands and their
fabulous beaches,
too. When people ask me where I come from, I always say I am Greek. Vassilis Vogiatzis, MI4
Tourists usually think about the Acropolis, museums and archaeological sites. They also think about our famous dishes, like souvlaki and moussaka.
People think about the Greek islands and beaches, and about the Spartans and Leonidas. But now they also think about the economic crisis, something not good for Greece, which I think is the
best country in Europe!

My Hobby Tina Spanomaridi, MI5 I'm interested in music, so I decided to learn how to play
the piano. It's quite
entertaining
because if you are good, everybody gives you credit, and obviously we all like that! When I was five years old, I went to a friend's house and I heard her grandfather playing the piano. I loved it so I took it up. Now I'm really good at it and I practise a lot so as to be a great piano player. The piano is a very creative instrument and in the future I would like to play the piano professionally in an orchestra. Nefeli Vasiliadi, MI5 In the last three months, I have been working on a website about the environment. Creating a website is very enjoyable. I find articles on the Internet, I add them to my site and then I elaborate them. Moreover, by editing the articles, I think I improve my writing skill. I started the website in October. At first I thought I couldn't make it. I had neither free time, nor ideas about what to write. A month later, I came upon a website about the environment. The articles were very interesting, so I uploaded them to my website. Gradually, I found more interesting websites and added more and more articles to it. Afterwards, my site was full of great articles, so I recommended it to my friends. Now, my website has about 100 visitors per day. I'm so excited! I love it when my website notifies me that more people have visited it. I don't see the website as a kind of obligation, but as a pleasant activity. That's why I may do this professionally in the future.
Maria Tsapatsari, MI5 I'm quite good at sports, so about five years ago I decided to learn how to ski. I went to the mountain and loved
it straight away.
The first time I tried, I thought it was very difficult and I fell all the time. But I wanted to learn to ski and I didn't give up! After an hour, I could ski!!! Now I have learned to ski well. I can go very fast without falling down. I have bought my own skis, my boots and special warm clothes. The best thing about skiing is the freedom you feel when you do it. I like to ski for hours and I love it. In the future, I will go skiing with my friends on the mountains and I will have a great time! John Albert Agana, MI5 Last summer, I joined a summer camp in Salamina. One of the usual activities was to explore the area around the camp site. We were divided into teams which were named after animals. My team was called 'The Penguins'. Our leader had given us a map so we could find places to cook our food, to swim, to go round and see different plants, animals and other things. It was really enjoyable because we were not told what to look for, or how and when to do things. We
were given the chance to make decisions, make plans and do what we had planned. What I liked best was the freedom that was given to us to explore the place. I learned a lot and I would like to join a summer camp of this kind next summer.

My Web Page George Gatsios, MI4
All About Me I’m ten years old and I’ve got brown hair and brown eyes. I’m quite tall. I’m not very happy to be tall because I’m different from the others, but it isn’t so bad to be the tallest person in the class! My
friends say that I look cool in this T-shirt. I have a photo of me and my friend wearing this T-shirt.
My School I’m a student at Arsakeio in Palaio Psychiko. It takes 30 minutes to get to school by bus because I live far away. Every morning I get up at 6:30 a.m. and at 6:50 a.m. I’m at the school bus stop. I don’t have breakfast because my bus leaves the bus stop at 7:00 o’clock and it doesn’t wait for me! The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking as if nothing had happened. The Irishman picked the fly out of his drink, held it out over the beer and then started yelling “Spit it out, Spit it out!’

My favourite place in my school is the Art Room. I like it because I love art and because all my work becomes better there, because I always have more tools to make works of art. But I also hate it a bit, because when we finish the lesson, we have to tidy up and we lose the break. The room is really big, with three tables and a lot of chairs. There are two sinks and cupboards with bottles of paint. Behind the table, there is a bookcase with our portfolios.

Stories Orange Juice
My Little Story
Theodora Nikolaidi, MI6
Maria Mantrivi, MI6
I had been walking through the
creepy
forest for several hours
when I suddenly heard something behind me. My first thought was that a dangerous animal was following me. I started walking faster and faster. The strange noise behind me hadn’t stopped yet. While I was running in the forest, there was a rock in front of me I lost my balance and fell down. I started to cry because I couldn’t stand up. I didn’t have a choice so, with a scared face, I looked back. You can’t even imagine the thing that I saw behind me! It was my mum with my orange juice yelling ‘You haven’t drunk your orange juice young lady!’ Finally, I…drank my orange juice and I continued my walk in the forest.
The Best Day of My Life George Katimertzis, MI5 The best day of my life was last Friday. We had a carnival party at my school, which started after the first four hours of lessons. The teacher seemed upset because we were all dressed up, impatient and noisy. Some of us had brought pistols, capsules and small dynamites. We let the teachers do the lesson but we kept drawing clowns, running around the classroom and playing...in other words, the teachers could do nothing but let
us do whatever we
liked! When the bell rang, we all shouted and
ran out. We put loud music on my laptop, ordered pizza and threw a party. It was fantastic! I was glad that my classmates were having fun.
I had been walking through the forest for several hours, when I suddenly heard something behind me. I looked back, but I couldn’t see anything. I started to walk again, but I was really scared. Then the noise came again and everything was so strange in that forest! I
couldn’t feel my legs! Suddenly, I felt
something touching my dress. I turned around and saw a small cat looking for something to eat. I felt relieved! What could this little kitten do to me? I took it in my arms and I started to stroke it. I was happy because I had a new friend. But whatever happens, I’ll never forget the touch I felt when I was walking in the forest!
An Amazing Discovery Lina Dellaporta, MI4 Last summer I was in Alonisos. While I was swimming in the sea, I found a broken ancient vase. I gave it to my parents and then we went to the police station and gave it to the authorities. Two months later, we received a call from an archaeologist, who informed me that the vase was important,
as it was of the 14th century BC. The Archaeological Museum of Athens offered me 1,000 Euros for my discovery! I’m going to spend the money on a trip to Great Britain next summer!

Maria Mantrivi, Theodora Nikolaidi, MI6
Lena Koumantou, MI4
It was Christmas Eve and I was alone. I could see lights and people carrying presents. All the people were laughing and I didn’t know why. Only
one person seemed different from the others. A man was sitting on a bench,
alone and very sad. I could understand him, because he was like me: he didn’t have anyone in the world. My first thought was to go closer to him. But then I thought that maybe he wanted to be alone and think. Suddenly, I saw him coming to my side. He put his hand on my shoulder and started to stroke me. I was so happy to have company that dark, cold night! Finally, the poor man took me with him! From that moment, I followed him for the rest of my life!

Margatita: OK, we can go to the Acropolis Museum first, then to the Parthenon and after that to the National Gallery. Lena: Oh! Then we’ll

Tales of Goha
Calypso-Sophie Sdrali, MI5
Dimitra Pateraki, MI5 One day, Goha decided to build a new house. He wanted a house with two storeys – a ground floor and an upper floor. He didn't need a second floor, but he felt that a house with only one storey wasn't a real house. However, his wife knew that two storeys was much more work, so Goha
decided he would sell the upper floor and live on the ground floor. He found
a buyer easily and he sold the upper floor to a merchant. The merchant had always wanted to live high up, above everybody else. They both lived happily in the house, but after some years Goha found that his house was no longer convenient. So he decided to build another house in the part of Baghdad near the palace, On the morning of 22nd November 1963, the President of the USA, John Kennedy, arrived in Dallas, Texas, with his wife. He was in his car when, at 12:30, he was shot by someone hiding in a building, so he died from the gunshots. At 2:50, the police arrested a man called Lee Harvey Oswald for killing President Kennedy. Oswald denied that he had killed him. Two days later, the police decided to move Lee Harvey Oswald to another prison. Suddenly, a man whose name was Jack Ruby shot Oswald, who died a few hours later. Jack went to prison and he died there. On November 25, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington. At the beginning, almost all Americans believed that Oswald was the only assassin. Very soon, questions were asked about how that terrible thing had happened that day. There were many different
opinions about who had killed the president,
but we'll never know about it. The questions go on even today. The assassination of John Kennedy is one of the 20th century's biggest mysteries.
but first he wanted to sell his ground floor quickly to the merchant. But the merchant didn't want to buy it. After a few days, Goha decided to pull down the ground floor. Suddenly, the merchant realised that he couldn't have an upper floor alone: the upper floor needed to stand on the ground floor, so he agreed. He bought the ground floor from Goha and he paid the price that Goha asked. At last, Goha was (of course) very pleased!

Harry Potter is a famous hero created by English writer Joan K. Rowling. She has written seven books with the young magician and his friends Ron and Hermione as the main characters. These books have sold millions of copies worldwide. Also Harry Potter became a cinema hero loved by millions of people, especially young people all over the world. The first film, 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', was played during Christmas of 2001 and the last film, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II', was played last July (2011) and it was a major hit in Europe and the USA. Harry Potter in his last adventure (which was filmed
in 3D) faced the evil Lord Voltemort and the evil powers. The most fascinating moment of the film was the battle of Harry Potter and Lord Voltemort and the last scene, where Harry Potter appeared older, after getting married. It was a really touching experience to see Harry Potter greet his little son at the train station before

in a skyscraper. But after a long time of working there, he gets fired and he hasn’t got any money. So he takes 2-3 friends and a crook and he decides to rob the skyscraper where he used to work. But this is not very easy…If you like funny adventure films, believe me: ‘Tower Heist’ is for you! Chryssa Gioka, MI6
starting his trip to Hogwart's School of Magic. The actor who played Harry Potter in all the films was British actor Daniel Radcliffe, who is now nearly 22 years old – nit a child any more, as he was in 2001 when he first played the little wizard. This final film has been nominated for this year's Oscars for best art direction, best make-up and best visual effects. I have to say that harry Potter was deeply loved and worshipped by many young kids because the books and the films with this original hero managed to entertain the audience with their suspense stories, their fantasy as well as with the beautiful, fairy-tale scenery. Harry Potter books and films also showed and emphasised the values of friendship, compassion, love, respect and family, which are so important in our lives.
Happy Feet 2 is a fantastic movie, with lots of music and of course dance! This time, Bubble’s son, Eric, who doesn’t like dancing, goes away from home after a misunderstanding. He finds Sven, a penguin that can fly, and who gives him hope. While returning home, he
makes some new friends. But
all the penguins have been trapped! He tries to help them but… what happens?

Stories The British Council Murders Sandy Karagianni, Orfeas Pantelias-Gionis, Nikolina Plivouri, MI6 Drawings: Veronica Manusevich, MI6 It was an ordinary day at the British Council. The birds were singing, the children were in their classrooms and the lessons were going on, when suddenly Miss Rebecca told us that we were going to go to Scotland the next week! After this, we all counted the days until the next Friday! When we arrived in Scotland, we went to the hotel, which was next to a cemetery. Later that night, we heard a scream: a
teacher had
fallen into a grave! We all went out and
we took the teacher back to the hotel. We didn't sleep well: he was screaming all night! The next day he was nowhere to be seen, also the day after that and the day after that! Nicolina was really scared and she couldn't sleep... When we came back to Greece, we couldn't find the teacher, but at the Christmas celebration, we saw him. He was green and his face was bleeding!!! Anyway, the Christmas celebration was magnificent, with the Christmas tree and a lot of gifts...until he came into the classroom. He looked at us and Miss Rebecca screamed! All the children ran out, except us: Nicolina, Orfeas and Sandy. We went under the desks and waited for the children to go out. Then, we opened the door and we screamed, too: about five...hundred green zombies and the zombie teacher were in front of us waiting for us! We started running across the hallway until we reached the stairs. Orfeas ran to the upper floor but Sandy and Nicolina ran into Miss Dimitra’s office. Nicolina grabbed the fire extinguisher. She pressed the handle, flew back, hit her head on the wall and then she fainted! Sandy grabbed the CD player and hit a zombie who tired to eat Nicolina. Nicolina woke up, took
a clock and threw it like a Frisbee: it cut three zombies' heads off. We left the office and tried to find Orfeas but we couldn’t find him anywhere. While we were killing zombies, we heard a voice calling 'Spartaaa!' and the zombies started falling on the floor, creating a small mountain behind Orfeas. His clothes were torn and had blood on them. He was holding a stapler and he had four more on his belt. He told us that there were no more zombies on this floor. We were going downstairs when we heard Sandy screaming. We looked at her and saw that she had a scratch on her arm. The zombies could smell the blood and they were following us! We thought we would die when Nicolina saw a lighter and a bottle of gas. We threw them at the zombies and we started running downstairs until we reached the exit. Then we heard an explosion! The third floor was on fire, and the fire burned the zombies: they were falling from the windows. It was a lucky escape... One month later, we all entered the British Council again. There were no zombies or blood inside. Our floor had been built again and we started our lesson. Miss Rebecca asked us to describe our adventures...and we all smiled.
The Old House
The Best Day of My Life
Christina Malama, MI5
Rachel-Zoe Basra, MI5
I was waiting outside the door of the old house when suddenly I got a text message from my friend Trina: she sent me the address to make sure that this was the house, and she told me that she would come after me. I rang the doorbell and I heard a strange noise. Then, an old lady opened the door and she told me to go inside. When I went inside, I saw some old portraits and different antiques and photos. I had been sent by my friend Trina to learn about her dead grandmother. I asked the old lady if she knew anything about Trina Anderson’s grandmother, and she told me that she had been a close friend of hers before the ‘accident’. Then someone rang the bell and it was Trina. The old lady told us that Trina’s grandmother had been murdered
The best day of my life was when I was eleven. September 1st was quite a warm day. I was ready for the first day of school after the holidays. It had been a really dreadful summer and I wasn't very keen on going to school. My mum had said she would put me in a new school, which was quite devastating. As I entered the marvellous gates of the new school, I stopped dead where I was. The school was huge...there,
a huge world stretched out before me and suddenly
all the sulkiness I felt disappeared completely. My mum had never told me what the place looked like. It was really amazing! That's where we met: Jane, a fairly tall girl with straight brown hair and Bill, again a fairly tall boy but he, unlike Jane, had
with a knife in her house. We
learned all the details about her murder. Outside
the house, we found an old newspaper about the murder of Trina’s grandmother and then we realised that the old lady had lied to us...and that she had killed Trina’s grandmother!

reddish brown hair and freckles on his cheeks. My best friends, Jane and Bill, are complete opposites but we're still best friends. That's what made that day the best. We had loads of fun that day. That was the best day, and even the best year of my life!

Shopping in Athens MI4 Class Athens is an amazing place for shopping. There are a lot of places to go shopping. First of all, you can go to the centre of Athens, Syntagma, where there is Ermou Street, but also to Kolonaki, where there are shops with the most famous designer clothes and brands. These are some of our favourite shops: If you want to find
weird stuff, go to
‘Octopus’. There you can find strange things, like…an octopus clock!
There are a lot of supermarkets in Athens, but my favourite one is AB Vasilopoulos. There is a variety of goods: vegetables, dairy products, fruit etc.

Stories I’ll Never Forget what I Found Last Year
An Unusual Discovery Anna Makropoulou, MI5
Nefeli Vasiliadi, MI5 I'll never forget what I found last year. It had been a week since we moved house and I was really sad because I missed my friends and our old home as well. There was a dog in my old neighbourhood, Sparky. We had got on really well. Luckily, my new house wasn’t that far from my old one. I was unpacking my things when I heard a loud barking coming from outside. I looked out of the window and I was very surprised when I saw Sparky. I opened the door to let him
inside. I told my parents about Sparky and we were all very happy. After a while, Sparky gave me a signal with his eyes, moved its foot and started running. I followed him because I
was very curious about what he wanted to show us. We had been running for about
ten minutes when we arrived at my family's old house. Sparky stood there for a while and then he started running again, until we reached my old neighbourhood park. The dog started sniffing the ground. Finally, he started uncovering something. It was my favourite doll! I hadn't even noticed that I'd lost it! I was very pleased my dog had found it, even though it was a bit dirty.
I'll never forget what I found last year! May was finishing and June was coming. I was very excited because school ended in a few weeks. I had been dreaming about going to New York, and I was finally going to go there on a school trip! This was when everything happened...My class went to a little forest, to plant trees. I had been chatting to my best friend Catherine on the school bus and I was really enjoying myself. Then it was time to start digging. I found a distant spot and started. After I had been digging for a long time, my spade hit something hard. I thought it was just another rock getting in my way. I continued digging and I started to see a shape. It wasn't a rock but a chest, a treasure chest! I was amazed and very proud of myself: I had discovered a treasure chest! I took it with me to my house and told my parents what had happened. We telephoned a museum. The people from the museum told us that it was a pirate treasure chest! I was even more amazed. They wanted to see what was inside, so they tried to make a key for it. After they had been working for hours, they finally made one. When they opened it,
inside
lay real gold! They told us that they wanted it for the pirate exhibition in the museum, so we offered it to them. The next day, our story was in the newspaper!
The Old House by the Sea
The Strange Lake
Billy Faliakos, MI5
Veronika Manusevich, MI6 I had been walking through the forest for several hours when suddenly I heard something behind me. I looked back. There was a lake behind me, but, just a minute ago, there wasn’t one! I felt a bit uncomfortable. I knew there was usually nothing dangerous about lakes if you didn’t go into them, but this one was so strange…It wasn’t blue, or green, or black, it was red – like blood! And it was making a strange noise! And it had appeared from nowhere in 30 seconds! Suddenly,
I recalled a legend which people in the I’ll always remember the day I visited the old house by the sea. I was with my friend John when we saw a haunted house. Around it, there were over twenty signs with ‘Warning’ or ‘Be Careful’ written on them. John wanted to get into the house. I got in first, but the door closed behind me, so John stayed outside. I soon understood that the house was a Ghost Club, without ghosts. Suddenly a TV came on and showed a woman talking about John Lennon’s murder. I was a bit afraid. I ran upstairs and saw John Lennon’s body and, around it, thousands of beetles! Then I screamed and millions of bats flew away…actually, there were only five of them but I was horrified! The Ghost Club opened and I saw lots of ghosts getting in – you can see them only if you are afraid of them. I used John Lennon’s body to break the window and jump out of the house. My friend had left and I was alone. Then I heard my mum say ‘Good morning!’ Thank God, it was just a nightmare!
School Joke Teacher: Tom, give me a sentence starting with `I’. Tom: ‘I is........’ Teacher: No! You must always say `I am...’ Tom: OK, ‘I am the ninth letter of the alphabet.’
nearby village really liked. It was a legend about a lake which could disappear from one place and immediately appear in another. They had told me that, if a person touched the lake, he or she would turn into a monster! I broke into a run. Suddenly, the lake appeared right in front of me! I stopped, but, whenever I went into any direction, it would appear in front of me and maybe I wouldn’t be able to stop so I would run straight into it! I was frightened and tired, so I sat down. Then I looked up and I saw a monkey. It was jumping in a tree and it wasn’t afraid of the lake at all, so I came up with an idea. I was sitting under a huge tree. I stood up and started climbing up the tree. The lake was moving under the tree, but it couldn’t reach me. I went back home travelling from tree to tree, thanks to my brother, who had taught me how to climb! I was really tired and I caught an awful cold, but I was still human!

Nick Lagouros, MI4
The Greek language has given a lot of words to other languages. Also, many sciences use Greek words, for example medical science, maths and physics. I feel proud because my mother tongue is the Greek language. Evi Chaviari, MI4
I like the Greek language a lot, not because it is my mother language, but because it is unique and very rich in words. I also like it because it has
a very long history. It is a living language with a long history! Maria-Hara Panagiotopoulou, MI4 I love the Greek language because it has
difficult vocabulary and a lot of letters
which sound the same. Sometimes I can’t believe that I can speak and understand one of the most difficult languages in the world! I love the Greek language! Athina Bekou, MI4 Today, 20 million people speak the Greek language. However, many more people (Greek and from other countries) study ancient Greek

The Bermuda Triangle, also known as Devil's Triangle, is a region in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean where a number of aircraft and surface vessels such as ships and boats are said to have disappeared under mysterious circumstances. The apexes of the triangle are generally accepted to be Bermuda, Miami, Florida and San Juan, Puerto Rico. People have tried to find natural and logical explanations to these disappearances. Compass problems are one of the reasons, or storms, or even the Gulf Stream. Another possible explanation is human error. There are writers who believe that these disappearances are the result of something paranormal. Some others attribute these phenomena to extraterrestrial beings or UFOs. Others relate the Devil's Triangle to the myth of Atlantis. There are plenty of explanations, both natural and supernatural. Yet, the Bermuda Triangle still remains a mystery.

Random Soup
Little Nicholas and the Red Ballon
Konstantina Spyropoulou, MI7
Evi Chaviari, Nick Lagouros, MI4
Pongo drawn by Nikolas Margazoglou, Alan Cauliflower drawn by Konstantina Spyropoulou. Today is the big day. Alan Cauliflower is nervous because of the Cooking Competition. Last night he tried to make soup, but it wasn’t as good as it was supposed to be. Time’s passing, and Alan is trying to make another soup. His assistant, Pongo the Monkey, is in town looking for some vegetables to put in the soup. After a while, Pongo the Monkey appeared. Alan stared at him, surprised, because of the food that he had brought. ‘What are these?’ he asked Pongo. ‘How can we make soup with these?’ Pongo made an angry sound, like ‘Aou, Aou, Aaarghhh!’, and started cutting the onions and the carrots. Then he gave Alan a knife and they started making the soup together. Alan was happy because the soup was almost completed, so he started singing a song: ‘Oh, hey! Life
is good with peas
and melon, put some grass and watermelon, cut the carrots, boil the potatoes, roast the chicken, grill the fish, boil the prawns, eat your pasta, eat your chips, Random Soup is ready with all of this!’ Eventually, the soup was ready to win the competition. Only one thing was left to do: put in some CAULIFLOWER and taste it!
The story of the book is about a little boy named Nicholas. One day, Nicholas and his mum went to a shopping centre to do some shopping. While they were there, a man gave Nicholas a red balloon. Later, when they finished their shopping, they took the bus to go home. But as they were getting off the bus, the red balloon burst. After that, a strange thing happened: Nicholas’ mum
stopped talking to him
and his father, too. At the end of the day, Nicholas and his father found out that she had stopped talking to them because she loved the red balloon! We really liked this book because it was very funny!

Amazing Discoveries Evi Chaviari, MI4
from the rock will get the
I was at school with my friends. We were playing hide and seek. Suddenly, there was a light in the place where I was hiding. I touched it and… BOOM! The school, the trees, the kids all disappeared. I was scared until I saw the Black Sword. It was there, stuck to a rock. On the rock there were some letters: ‘The person who will remove the sword
greatest power that has ever existed’. Well, I tried this and it worked! My body was stronger than ever. I had strong armour, too. ‘That is the best discovery!’ I shouted. After that, I took my big white horse and I started riding. A big black rider came in front of me. ‘I’m the Evil King. You will never take over my world. I will stop you!’, he said. His eyes were red and his armour was huge. He hit me on the arm. We fought and fought and I had almost beaten him when…my dad said ‘Evi, wake up!’ Yannis Vogiatzis, MI4 It was 19th June. I was home and I was watching TV when I heard a noise coming from the basement. I went there and saw some rats that were biting into an old chest. When I opened the chest, I saw a
golden sword! It was amazing! Then
I told my parents and they called a Greek museum. An hour later, a man came to my home and told me that the sword was ancient, and it belonged to King Agamemnon! He gave me 200 Euros. With the money, I bought a new PSP.
Alexandros Lionis, MI4 One day, I was on the beach with my family and my dog. We were sitting on the beach playing with the dog. We were throwing a ball far away into the water and the dog was going to bring the ball back. At some point, the dog brought back a bottle! It had a piece of paper in it. I opened
the bottle and I took out the paper. The paper was a map. I read the map and I understood that it led you to island, and this island had a hidden treasure! The next day we went to the island on a boat and using a compass. When we got there, we followed the map and, at the end of the island, we found an old house. Inside it, we found a chest – it was full of gold coins! We were very happy because we were very rich! Julia Florou, MI4 The first ice cream was created for the first time in China around 2000 BC. It was prepared from lightly boiled rice, spices and
milk that was placed in the snow to set. However, around 1560 a Spanish doctor who lived in Rome, Milasious Bilafranka, discovered that by adding a chemical he could freeze everything much faster. The technique of preparing cream with mixing eggs began in France in the 18th century. Ice cream propagated in England and in America thanks to the Italian immigrants, who sold it in the streets.
Yannis Verriopoulos, MI4 This summer I was on holiday in Cephalonia with my parents. One day we rented a boat and went to a small island. When we arrived we went swimming. An hour later, we found a cave near some rocks. We entered the cave, we walked for a little and we saw something shining. We got closer and…what a surprise!
It was a statue, a small statue
of an
ancient god. My father told me that it was
probably the god of the sea, Poseidon. We called the police and they arrived in a few minutes. They took the statue and we continued our holiday on the beautiful island of Cephalonia. Maria-Hara Panagiotopoulou, MI4 I remember last Saturday I went to the sea. My dad and I decided to go swimming very far out. We were very happy. I was wearing my goggles and we went very deep. We were swimming and swimming for 20 minutes. Suddenly, I saw something strange at the bottom of the sea. I told my dad and I gave him my goggles. He dived to the bottom of the sea and he took it. When he came up, he told me that it
was an ancient vase. I saw some ancient coins in it. When we got out of the sea, we called the police and we gave the vase to the local museum. The museum gave us 8,500 Euros! We don’t know what to do with the money, but we’re thinking of going to Italy.
Marily Zafeiropoulou, MI5 I'll never forget what I found last summer. My parents had left, and I was at home alone with some friends. We were playing in the garden and we were having fun, when one of my friends had an idea: to dig and build a castle. When we all agreed with her, we started digging and we found something very interesting: a map! We saw that the map was old and it showed a
secret treasure.
We followed the directions on the map and we found a treasure chest and the key! When we opened the chest, we saw some old jewellery and coins. We took them to the police and, after two weeks, they told us that they were ancient, nearly 3,500 years old! The next day, our story was in the newspapers. Nicholas Depountis, MI4 It was last summer. I was at my grandfather’s house for a holiday. One day, my brother and I decided to explore a nearby warehouse. When we found an old riffle, we showed it to our grandfather and he told us that it was his father’s and it was ninety years old! It had two barrels, it
was
rusty and it was big
and heavy. My brother and I played shooting with it and then we put it back in its place. It was a really interesting discovery!
