REALITY BITES BUT WILL THE METAVERSE ZUCK?

MONDAY MARCH 14TH | 2PM – 6PM

UK HOUSE @ CEDAR STREET COURTYARD

Exploring where ‘traditional’ media and performance has a part to play in the Metaverse, or is there a totally brand new culture and language required? Which platforms will be key? What lessons can be learned to stop IP and unregulated content being exploited by brands for NFT’s for example. And why should we care? Join a panel of creatives and technology experts from the island of Ireland - north and south - who as well as showcasing their fantastic work in immersive technology, will provide an insight into the battle for the soul of immersive tech, the role of artists in that, and what lessons can be learned in both the efficient production pipeline for Immersive Technology, in reaching and impacting new audiences and how that translates into the seemingly never ending hype of the Metaverse and Web3. Our panel’s experience is across Augmented Reality Operatic performances, a Virtual Reality SaaS product which is ready to disrupt the traditional 3D animation workflow space, an automatic licensing and IP platform designed specifically for the Metaverse and the convergence of innovative theatre production and XR. Jack Morrow, CTO, Retinize Camille Donegan, ndependent XR Producer Jo Mangan, CEO, The Performance Corporation Dafydd Williams, CEO, Ulster Touring Opera Nigel McAlpine, (Host) Immersive Tech Lead, Digital Catapult NI Yao Yao, CEO, JadeBlok You’ll also get to see a live VR performance of an extract from Irish theatre production company ‘The Performance Corporation’ and their Emperor 101 experience - which dives into to the mind of a conspiracy theorist and her acolytes - using Retinize’s ‘Animotive’ VR 3D animation production tool which was one of the launch partners for HTC Vive’s face tracker. Plus you can experience Ulster Touring Opera’s fresh take on Mozart’s Magic Flute with their mini Opera in Augmented Reality. Join us at a superb venue: the Cedar Street Court Yard which is home to the DIT UK House and the British Music Embassy for SXSW 2022, for live demos, a panel session and a chance to meet these very talented people over a coffee.
