School Visit Tips • Remember to engage the children, asking them questions where possible. This could include: - Questions about the properties of the raw materials and

finished products in each experiment

- Questions about real world applications of the products

used

- Questions about the experiment methods - Questions about the physical appearance of the materials


School Visit Tips • Where possible, allow the children to physically interact with the experiments

(e.g. the Let’s Produce a Plastic bouncy ball)

• Remember to take into account the age range of the children

Note their key stage (see our curriculum reference document) & tailor your technical language to their level. This will help make the experiments more understandable for them.


School Visit Tips • Note the learning outcomes of each experiment found in the teachers booklet

• Try to discuss with the teacher beforehand what material is most relevant to the children • Ensure a teacher is always present in the room • Refrain from physical interaction with the children where possible


School Visit Tips • Note the health and safety aspects of each experiment (e.g. equipment required, handling methods etc.)

• Ensure your experiments are setup in advance to aid smooth transition • Ensure you have all the additional equipment you require (see our equipment guide) • Have fun!
