Why learn with the British Safety Council?

“ The British Safety Council’s efforts, dedication and commitment in promoting and harmonising health and safety has transcended borders and transformed how health and safety is viewed worldwide.”

Health and safety isn’t about numbers; it’s about people. As one of the world’s leading health, safety and environmental organisations, the British Safety Council has been helping organisations to look after their people for more than 60 years.

We are not-for-profit. Everything we do is for public benefit. Last year, we used funds from our commercial activities to set up a subsidiary charity, Mates in Mind, which aims to promote good mental health among the 2.1 million UK construction workers. We offer a wide range of training courses. Active, student-centred learning and high pass rates make us a provider of choice. For those that cannot attend classroom courses, we offer digital learning programmes that enable you to reach out to your staff wherever they are. We are the only UK awarding organisation to offer a complete suite of health and safety qualifications from Entry Level to Level 6 in the Regulated Qualifications Framework.

Our qualifications are delivered by more than 750 approved centres in the UK and overseas. As a regulated awarding organisation, we have to comply with a strict set of conditions. You can therefore be sure that our assessment processes are robust and fair. Many of our Level 1 to Level 3 qualifications (see page 29) can be taken online and, if you haven’t got enough computers at your centre, there is always a paperbased option. Our online qualifications system allows you to manage your candidates and access your results online. We issue results and certificates faster than most other awarding organisations and, for our online multiple choice examinations, the results are instant.

How it works 1. Organisations apply for centre approval together with approval for at least one qualification 2. Centres prepare candidates for assessment 3. Candidates complete the assessment 4. Results and certificates are issued.
