There was nothing my father, David Hicks, did not design. He designed my mother’s hair. He once designed the nose of a client. He even designed his own funeral. Every detail was thought out and executed to perfection. This collection is inspired not only by my father’s geometric alphabet, but very much by my father himself. He was VERY outspoken, and some of his memo rable David Hicks-isms can be seen sprinkled throughout the following pages alongside the designs they influenced. I’ve put my own signature on this legacy for a DH + IH style that translates into a language of dancing letters, bold geometrics and unexpected details. Named GrapHicks as a play on words nod to my father’s love affair with all things graphic.

My father admired the hexagon shape. You see it creeping into much of his work. He even designed a hexagon house - a somewhat tricky shape to live in, but it works well as a repeat pattern on a wristlet. This shimmering take-along has a bit of Hicks geometric and a slight vintage vibe that makes it truly our own.

Growing up, we each had notepads with a David Hicks geometric monogram. I had IH, AH for Ashley and EH for Edwina. I always have one handy for when inspiration strikes or for making lists, some of which must be checked twice.

I sometimes say that the geometric alphabet my father created became the wallpaper of my childhood, but this is a first appearance on coasters. These should inspire all guests to be on their best drinks behavior.
