Connect the Groupon credit card reader, if it’s not already connected.

Plug in the iPad power cord.

Turn on the iPad.

From your iPad home screen, tap Settings

Select your Wi-Fi network and ensure that the blue checkmark appears.

Sign in using your Groupon merchant credentials (your email address and password). This information has been emailed to you.

Note: Be sure to store your login info securely so that only you have access to the app and the business information stored within.

Using Gnome Navigate Your Tablet Access different sections of the app through the Menu button The Menu button is located on the top left corner of the screen.

Once tapped, the menu will display. To exit the menu, tap another area of the screen.

REDEMPTION | Redeeming Groupons

Redeeming Groupons Redemption is the process of verifying that a Groupon voucher is valid and marking it as used. You can redeem a Groupon voucher on its own or as part of a transaction in the Checkout section. Go to Menu

Redeem by Name 1

Customers can redeem their vouchers by giving you their name. If they have the Groupon app installed on their iPhone 4S or higher, their name will appear at the top of the redemption screen.

Type the customer’s name into the search bar to locate any vouchers a customer has purchased for your business.

Note: If multiple people with the same name have purchased your offer, search by the customer’s email address.

Tap the voucher the customer wants to redeem.

Entering the bill total allows the Gnome to track both the performance of your Groupon campaign and how much customers are spending at your business.

Printed Vouchers– Scanning the Barcode Your customers may present you with a Groupon voucher on a smartphone or printed on paper. Printed vouchers are redeemable by scanning or entering the barcode. 1

Tap the Scan Barcode option from the Redemption screen. The barcode scanner window will appear.

Use the front-facing camera of table to align the barcode on the red line. The camera should detect the barcode and scan the voucher.

POINT OF SALE | Adding a Groupon Voucher to a Bill

Adding a Groupon Voucher to a Bill Gnome can be used for any transaction, including those with multiple items, services, and discounts. You can also redeem a Groupon voucher as part of a transaction; Gnome automatically calculates the balance owed.

Add a New Bill 1

From the voucher view, create a bill and add the Groupon voucher to it by tapping Add to Bill.

The voucher will be applied to a new transaction, where you will be able to add additional items and services to the bill.

Adding a Groupon Voucher to a Bill Create a Bill From the calculator or itemized menu, tap the Groupon icon to add it to a bill. Add any other items and proceed to checkout to collect payment for any balance owed.

To Exclude an Item from the Groupon Offer Tap and hold an item from the bill. In the menuthat appears, tap Exclude from Deal. Note: Groupon Merchant will automatically recalculate the proper discount and taxes based on the full value of the item.

To Remove a Groupon Voucher from the Bill Tap and hold the voucher from the bill. In the menu that appears, tap Remove Deal. Note: Your total will be recalculated automatically with the proper discount and taxes. The Groupon voucher will remain unused.


REDEMPTION | Setting Up the Point of Sale

Setting Up the Point of Sale Your Gnome functions as a complete point-of-sale system. It is easy to use and has features you need to run your business. To use Gnome to ring up customers’ purchases and track sales and customer behavior patterns, set up the menu and your tax and tip rates.

Tap Tax Rate to enter the tax rate for your business location and then tap Done.

Select whether the tax applies to the Gross Amount (bill total before discount) or the Net Amount.

Creating and Editing Your Menu To quickly and easily create your point-of-sale items, go to Menu

> Menu Editor

Starter Menus You can create a menu using one of the starter menus provided in Gnome or create one from a blank menu. Each starter menu contains common items, modifiers, and discounts. Tap Starter Menus and choose the business type most like your own: Nail Salon, Hair Salon, Spa, Cafe, Wine Bar, Retail, or Studio.

Menu Legend Add New Create a new item, category, or discount.

Discount Create preset discounts by percentage or dollar amount.

Category Create categories to group items within the menu.

Item Add individual items to the menu, within categories, or on their own.

Blank Menus To create your menu from scratch, tap Clear All Items.

To Add New Categories To add a new category, tap Add New and choose New Category.

Enter the category name and display name. If desired, tap Background to change the background color or to choose an image to represent the category. Tap Done.

To Add New Items New items can be created within a category or on their own. To create a new item on its own, tap New Item from the Menu Editor.

To create a new item within a category, tap the category you wish to edit and then tap Add New and choose New Item.

Enter the item name, display name, price, tax status, and tax rate. If desired, tap Background to change the background color or to choose an image to represent the category. Tap Options to add a modifier, or copy options from an existing item.

Accepting Payments Create a Bill Tap an item or discount to add it to the bill.

To Enter Amounts Manually Swipe the screen to the right. Enter an amount and then tap the + symbol to add the amount to the bill.

To Add a Discount To add a discount to the bill, tap Add Discount or tap a preset discount icon.

To add a discount to an individual item once it has been applied to the bill, tap and hold this item to modify it. Note: Refer to the Customer Tabs section of this guide to learn how to save multiple tabs.

Collecting Payments From the bill total screen, swipe a credit card. Alternatively, tap Charge to enter a cash payment or to enter a credit card number manually.

Cash Payment From the bill total screen, tap Charge. If using Fast Cash, choose an amount and then choose from receipt options. The change due will display at the top of the screen. If typing in the cash amount manually, tap Cash Amount, enter the amount received from the customer, and choose from the receipt options. The change due will display at the top of the screen.

Credit Card Payment From the bill total screen, swipe a credit card. Alternatively, tap Charge and then Card Number.

Enter the credit card number, expiration date, and ZIP code.

Reports Gnome provides three real-time daily reports. Go to Menu

Tap Sales to see the daily breakdown of credit card sales, cash sales, tips, and tax, as well as an hourly breakdown by sales.

Tap Product Mix to see the daily breakdown of sales by item.

Tap Groupon Deals to see information about your Groupon campaigns, including the total number of Groupon vouchers sold, the number of vouchers redeemed, the number of vouchers outstanding, and how much money you have earned from your campaign. If you have set up roles for employees, you can filter reports on an employee-by-employee basis. To print a report, tap Print in the top right corner of the screen.

Invoice History Invoice History allows you to track payments from your Groupon campaign. Go to Menu

The dated invoices appear in a list in the left panel. View a detailed breakdown of a payment in the right panel. This feature is useful for merchants with multiple Groupon campaigns.

Customer Comments Groupon customers are prompted to complete a survey about their experience at your business. That feedback is posted in Gnome. You can view, reply to, and share this feedback on Facebook and Twitter. In order to share this feedback, you must allow Gnome access to your social media accounts.

Settings and Preferences To access Settings and Preferences, go to Menu

Settings Menu General Log out of the application and find support contact information. Tax Rate Choose whether to collect sales tax on your transactions, set the tax rate, and choose whether to apply tax to gross or net amounts. Tipping & Signature Accept or decline tips, display tips as a percentage or currency, and adjust the default tip percentage shown on the first, second, and third tip amount. Card Reader Check the connection status of your credit card reader. Printer & Cash Drawer Set up printers and cash drawers and check their connection status. Custom Receipts Set custom elements of receipts, including logo, order number, footer, and custom messages. Employee Access Create roles for employees in your company and customize access to Gnome. Enable the Employee PIN Accounts feature by sliding the indicator to green Enter and confirm a four-digit number as the Master PIN. The Master PIN has access to all permissions. Tap Create New Employee Account to add a user and define permissions. Set the new PIN by entering and confirming a four-digit number. Enter a name for the user and choose which parts of the app this role can see and use.


BUSINESS MANAGEMENT | Access Gnome on the Web

Access Gnome on the Web You can access redemption and transaction reports for your Groupon campaign through our web app, Groupon Merchants. To access the Groupon Merchants web app, open a web browser and navigate to merchants.groupon.com. Log In Log in with the Groupon account credentials you received via email when you signed up for your Groupon campaign. An overview of your Groupon campaign will appear on the Merchant Dashboard screen. This dashboard provides a quick overview of your campaign performance, payments, and customer feedback. Deals Tab To view your Groupon campaign performance in more detail, click the Deals tab. Once in the Deals tab, you will see a detailed overview of your campaign’s performance, including active and past deals. In order to view all the deals you have run to date, click on the Deals List tab. Impact Report The Impact Report tab provides detailed impact analysis from each Groupon campaign you have run. This will allow you to see the specific analytics on deal impressions, customers, and revenue. History Tab To see your payment details for your Groupon campaign, click on the Invoice History tab. This tab shows a detailed list of all the payments you have received from Groupon campaigns you have run.

Credit Card Processing Tab To access detailed credit card transaction data, click the Credit Card Processing tab. This tab provides a quick overview of all aspects of your transaction data. To view detailed reports of your transaction data, click the Reports tab. This tab allows you to see an hourly breakdown of your transactions as well as the breakdown by credit card type. To see a report of individual transactions, click the Transactions tab. This will allow you to filter all of your transaction data by time range. To edit settings for your credit card processing account, click the Settings tab to change bank account information and verify your contact information. My Account Click the My Account link at the top right of the page to grant additional access to your Merchant Center, view pending or past account messages, and find product support.
