SUSTAINABILTIY TIMELINE

Educating and awarness around sustainability has lead for this installation to be added to the Memorial Student Center. The timeline shows the University’s Sustainability efforts up till 2018. The design was made to be fun and easy to understand for students who walk by it.

2018

Green Fee pays for new bikes for StoutBikes Bike Share Program

Places #1 in the UW System in RecycleMania (for the fifth year) Creation of an Academic Sustainability Liaison position to infuse sustainability into the curriculum LED light retrofits in 12 campus buildings and all outdoor locations

Places #1 in the UW System in RecycleMania (for the third year) Green Fee pays for new LED lights in MSC’s Great Hall and Achieves STARS Silver Rating for the second time Implements green cleaning products in all administrative and academic buildings 2016

Implements Building Dashboard to track energy use in all campus buildings Stout Student Association creates a Green Fee for allocating funds to student-focused sustainability projects 2014

Participates in RecycleMania and places #1 in the UW System and #24 in the nation Establishes UW-Sprout Campus Garden

Becomes the only UW school to collect compost in all campus buildings Establishes Campus-Wide Energy Committee to work on energy efficiency and conservation measures Faculty Senate adopts the campus-recognized definition for “sustainability” 2012

Establishes StoutBikes Bike Share Program

Launches I Love Tapwater campaign to reduce bottled water consumption University Dining services begins composting food waste in dining operations

2008

Recognizes Sustainability as one of four University Priorities

Establishes Sustainability Steering Committee to work on sustainability projects across campus Green Fee Funds UW-Stout’s first solar panel Project, 32 panels on Price Commons Places #1 in the UW System in RecycleMania (for the fourth year) 2017

UW-Sprout establishes a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program to sell vegetables to campus customers and donates to Stepping Stones Food Pantry Green Fee pays for bike fix stations for tudents and staff to repair their bikes Places #1 in the UW System in RecycleMania (for the second year) 2015

Completes first campus-wide STARS (Sustainability, Tracking, Assessment, and Rating System) sustainability assessment and earns a Silver Rating Stout Student Association establishes the SSA Sustainability Council 2013

Partners with Dunn County Transit to offer free bus services to students and staff Senate of Academic Staff and Student Association adopt a campus-recognized definition for “sustainability” including social, economic, and environmental pillars 2011

Establishes Sustainability Office Finalizes First Climate Action Plan, UW-Stout’s roadmap for sustainable development Begins offering Sustainable Management degree 2009

Signs the American College & University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), dedicating UW-Stout to becoming climage neutral 2007

Begins competing in RecycleMania, a waste reduction competition between universities in the U.S. and Canada
