The Perkins (alliteration)
2 Persistent need for improvement, Like the pine tree that grew so tall, but the small wind would tear it apart. The golden pen that lay on the desk The property that was known for its class and finesse It all seemed so perfect with the Perkins The wind didn’t seem to pardon for the pain it caused not to the pine, but to the family’s pride in the tree’s beauty. The pine that added to the perfection the Perkins loved. The golden pen seemed beautiful to all others but Mr. Perkins himself. For he had used that pen to sign the printed tax bills. Perhaps it just seemed perfect. The flawed, flawless Perkins family
3 Pandora’s Box (assonance)

You are different, you are kind, you are clothed, and alluring Don’t open the box unless you know it will make the world shine. As the waves of anger and hatred were released, peace suddenly left Zeus’s side. Pandora knew she’d made a mistake, by the time she shut the box, what had escaped was uncatchable. The mistake that shaped this world forever, The release that severed the kindness of man, Whether one knew or not, This box is not a treasure.

The Bell Feeling of Them All (onomatopoeia)
The worst feeling of them all, The honk honk of the school bus. Some days I wish the bus wouldn’t come, Going to school is zero fun. If only I could change the address on the pick-up list… The second to best feeling of them all, The beep, beep, beep, boop of the lunch bell I get to talk to all my friends, I hold a fork and not a pen, If only I could make lunch time last longer… The best feeling of them all, The three beeps and a boop, but I only hear one, I ignore the other two beeps and the boop as I’m running out the door, Once I step off my class floors, I don’t feel I need to change anything anymore.

True Land of the Free (personification)
7
The second trip to my most favorite place. I walked on the field that welcomed me everytime I visited. The daisies sang. The trees danced. The clouds smiled. I walked through the meadow. I lay amongst the flowers. Then I smell salt water. I stand up to see an ocean. I walked to that ocean It wanted to see me. I passed by a stream. The stream whispered
it said to me: tranquil and serene are the things one must be in the true land of the free. I walk and walk until I am at the ocean. It waves hello to me. I have come here before a long time ago. About eighty years ago. Now I’m back and I’m here to stay.

Cellular (imagery)
Everytime I touch my phone,
I hear the ringtone.
I feel the vibration in my hand.
I don’t know if a friend is calling because they are sad,
I don’t know whether it will be a good notification, or a life destructing one.
or if they are inviting me to go somewhere with them. When I answer a call.
I'm anxious and nervous to find out. Everytime I receive a text. I see the mix of funny I smell my bestfriend’s perfume, every time I put my phone to my ear. The perfume from the day she came over, and realized there was a bad rumor going around about her.
posts and sad posts. And I wonder if this cellular device is worth the pain it causes, and the people it ruins.
When I look on Twitter.

New York City Morning (rhyme)
I walked along Central Park The city where night isn’t dark. The next morning there was hail Yet I still went out to get the mail. I went back inside covered in melting ice. From the window in the shower I could see the Trump Tower. I had to race for work, working as a Barneys clerk. This winter day couldn’t be less pretty, Just another morning in the city.

IT’S JUST ME (SIMILE/METAPHOR) 13
It’s just me, This is what i cannot not be. I am compassionate, a giver. I am loving, like mans best friend. I am passionate, like romeo and juliet. I am unique, a fruit loop in a bowl of cheerios. I am self-confident. I am, I am, I am, I am, I am…… I am clumsy, a wet bar of soap. I am loud, like fire truck sirens. I am impulsive, I am anxious, like jerry whenever he sees tom. I am lazy, like the grasshopper during the summer. I am, I am, I am, I am, I am……

16 A piece of chocolate, so delicious! Creamy and rich, delectably sweet, the beat treat to eat! Made with bug legs and antennae, Processed so much, Inevitably sugary, I wouldn’t ever want to touch. Eww… Yuck… EEK! Wrapped in foil. With white or plain, crispy or Oreos and cream, A mouthwatering treat!

Walk into the party,
Might be dressed too modest.
18 (TONE)
A night with a friend. I don’t think I’m being too cool. Drinking water, saying it’s vodka, while standing at the bar. Partied at night, Was it my last?

Wynwood [ALLUSION]
This isn’t just about the walls. Go there one day,
20
early in the morning. Grab some iced coffee from Panther Coffee, or some healthy juice from Jugo Fresh. Go there at 12:00 pm lunchtime, and grab some alligator bites or Miami’s best chicken n’ waffles at Kush. Pop in those earbuds as you walk along the sidewalk, looK down at the quotes. Crank up the Ariana Grande, Pitbull, and Flo-rida. Look at the art, and take some pictures. The little galleries right of the Walls, are well, off the wall ! This great day, your Wynwood day

Homeworked (HyPERBOLE)
22 Homework is the worst thing ever! I start at five and end at nine, Easily, the most unfair part about life! When don’t I have homework? Never! Today I have to memorize a whole poem, study for 3 quizzes, memorize 6 formulas, answer study questions, and print out sheets, barely giving me time to breathe! Once I’m done, oh, its crunch time! Gotta eat, shower, get ready for bed, Rather be watching TV instead! And tomorrow, when I go back to school, just this, guaranteed, will happen ALL over again!

Sonnet No. 1 Period 5 & 6
Do’st thou ever feelest like an old bag Wrinkled, saggy so light soaring through the air Are thou underground none to hear you nag Thou spark ignites like a glistening flare Thou are not devoid of space that is waste Thine future cannot be told on this day Greatness is something thou will often taste Storms will come and rain but rainbows stay Roads lead by doors that open new portals Thou heart will gleam like bright pyrotechnics Explosions in the sky like immortals Stopwatch goes off my heart boom, boom, boom, tick Thou spirit is sparkling like a hidden gem The world will know thee and awaken
