MEET Yasmin Kianfar Yasmin is a graduate of Central Saint Martins, and is based in Brighton, England. In 2010 she made a big bang introducing herself to the world of fashion with her graduate collection. It was bought by Browns. She had a unique design aesthetic of timeless feminism; making her designs sought after by street style stars and countless retail stores. Opening Ceremony is among the lengthy list, selling her designs throughout L.A. and N.Y.C. Kianfar’s pieces are of the moment, and show great promise to continually evolve making her especially one to watch closely. She knows how to cut her dresses to accentuate the female form beautifully. Keeping the collections fresh she

incorporates high tech fabrics with silks and leather. She is extremely detail oriented which is what puts her unique touch on her garments with silver chains at the seams, hand finished pleats, and laser cutting.

“she knows how to cut her dresses to accentuate the female form beautifully.”

Inspirations for her collections start at the V&A Library. Kianfar is most inspired by women of history, and locations. For example her most recent collection is inspired by the twenties and then she mixes with a nineties minimal style. Which mixes with her design aesthetic of “nods to nostalgia but is entirely new”. Over all she has branded herself extremely well, and she is definitely one to look out for as she continues to grow.

HELLO DAGMAR “They keep in mind feminine sensuality while designing in turn adds a unique wearable quality to their lines. Within the most recent collection the feeling, Since three Swedish sisters founded the label in 2005, it has recently picked up momentum in the fashion world. They are some of the very few designers that are sustainability conscious, and really are involved in making sure the both the production of and materials are highly sustainable. They also advertise the idea that less is more in terms of consumption to customers, and market their pieces as one fine garment apposed to having to keep replacing cheap ones.

Their aesthetic is very much inspired by cultures or, motion pictures, architecture, art, music, and dance. They keep in mind feminine sensuality while designing in turn adds a unique wearable quality to their lines. WELCOME ALEXIS BARRELL Alexis Barrell first studied architecture at the University of Cape Town for three years, then she dropped out and enrolled in the Istituto Marangoni in Paris. She then went on to study under the couturier Marc Bouwer who inspired her to make her own brand which brings us to today. Her band is filled with wearable eclectic pieces.

“Some key details of her collections are oversized silk shirts, easy silhouettes, wide legged trousers, innovative leather jackets, and quality materials.”

6

FASHION

She is inspired by travel. Her design process includes a 3-month immersion in a new place, dressing differently, and thinking differently to really immerse herself in a new perspective and concept for her new line. Some of her greatest influences that really sum up her design aesthetic are Henri Matisse for use of color, Charlotte Perriand for her sense of restraint, and Miucci Prada for everything. In Barrells’ words the Alexis Barrell girl is urban, busy, curious and inspired. Some key details of her collections are oversized silk shirts, easy silhouettes, wide legged trousers, innovative leather jackets, and quality materials. Barrell wants to dress a girl with stories and meaning. Watch out for her collections with fun edgy twist, soft draping, and bold details that will put life in any woman’s wardrobe.

THE PERFECT SMOKEY EYE THINGS YOU’LL NEED Gold or Bonze eye shadow Black eye shadow Mascara Black eye liner

STEP 1

Apply the gold/ bronze eye shadow on the eyelid, starting from the inner corner to about two thirds of the way to the edge. Ensure you pack it on.

STEP 2

Take the black shadow and apply to the outer part of the eye at a diagonal slant. Again, make sure to pack it.

STEP 3

Blend the gold and black lightly with a soft fluffy eye shadow brush so the colors make a smooth transition on the lid. Use a gentle hand as we still want the colors to remain separate but without harsh lines.

STEP 4

Apply the eyeliner (you can use liquid eyeliner here also) along your top lid and make a flick at the end. Then taking the pencil eyeliner, line your waterline and join the liner to the flick. Finally add a few licks of mascara to both the upper and lower lashes. And then your done!

REMOVING MAKEUP STAINS Tricks to Removing makeup on clothing

1. Lipstick

Use hair spray and let sit for 10 minutes. Then, dab with a sponge, and throw it in the wash. If your clothing is dry-clean only, try using a piece of tape to transfer the stain away. You can also use baby powder, chalk, or baking soda to remove oil- and wax-based lipsticks.

2. Eyeliner

Reach for salt to remove the marks before using standard cleaner (this trick also works for lipstick stains on wine glasses).

3. Waterproof Mascara

For long-lasting makeup formulations, try blotting the stain with makeup remover like Philosophy Just Release Me ($18). Check the label to ensure the formula you're using is oil-free, if not you will end up with an even bigger stain.

4. Foundation

Pretreat powder and liquid-foundation spills with shaving cream or shampoo. Both of these soaps have cleaning agents that should break through the stain before you wash.

5. Self-Tanner

To reverse self-tanner stains left on sheets or clothing, first rinse the affected area under cold water. Then use a sponge and dish detergent, working on the spot from the outside in, to cut the oil in the tanning formula. You can even use hydrogen peroxide to remove the orange tones from the fabric (but make sure to spot-check first to ensure the fabric's color won't lift). You can also use glycerin (colorless, sweet, viscous liquid formed as a byproduct in soap manufacture) as a final resort.

September will underscore the value of teamwork, cooperation, and partnership. September may also show you that romance can take on grand proportions if you are in love by talking about and making plans for the future. You may not have been ready before this, but now the timing seems right.

VIRGO

THIS MONTH FOR VIRGOS: ( AUG 23 - SEPT 22)

This good news is due to the sweet new moon, due to appear on February 28 or March 1 (depending on your time zone). This new moon will send you a steady stream of goodness during the first two weeks of March. The moves you make in involving a partner in love or business during that time will have the power to change your relationship for the better in the year to come, until the next new moon in Pisces will come by next March 2015 to refresh this one. It's an important moment.

LIBRA

(SEPT 23 - OCT 22)

This is a good month to be productive. Mercury is no longer retrograde as of August 28, so you won't experience the cancellations, postponements, mix-ups, confusion, indecisiveness, and forgetfulness that you did in yourself and others in August. The first part of September should be quite special, and you will feel very accomplished if you stick to your plan. Let's look at the month in detail.

39

CONTENTS

Prince Harry September 15, 1984

SCORPIO (OCT 23 - NOV 21)

You have just come to the most romantic moment of 2014, dear Scorpio. At the very start of the month, you have one of the most lyrical, graceful, and affectionate new moons of the year that will encourage you to find true love or to nurture and celebrate the love you have found. That new moon either came August 28, or will on September 1 (depending on your time zone), and will be your very best friend. It is astrological truth that you can have some of the most glittering planetary aspects around you, but without a new moon to package the energy in the air and make it accessible to you, those lovely aspects will remain out of reach.

exerting a strong influence in the first ten days, from September 1 to approximately September 10. This new moon is sweet in every way, and it will give you an opportunity to plan a romantic trip with your one-and-only to a beautiful spot near water.

PISCES (FEB 19 - MAR 20)

This will be a vital month for you, for these two planets will support the new moon in Pisces, 10 degrees, due August 28 / September 1 (depending on your time zone). This new moon will be a wonderful game changer, for it will help you in so many wonderful ways.

ARIES (MAR 21 - APR 19)

SAGITTARIUS (NOV 22- DEC 21)

September will be the ideal month to tackle all your home-related plans. If you were thinking of moving, start looking for a new space the moment September arrives. The new moon appeared on August 28 at one minute to midnight on the United States West Coast, and on March 1 for most others in different time zones. That means this month will start off with lots of fresh energy and will provide you with opportunities, many of them perfect to solve your home-related dilemma.

CAPRICORN (DEC 22 - JAN 19)

This is the month you can break free from routine and enjoy delicious travel, dear Capricorn. The month starts with a new moon in Pisces, at 11 degrees on September 1, lighting your house of short distance travel, and

AQUARIUS (JAN 20 - FEB 18)

You may like September very much, for you will see a big emphasis on money but instead of getting you tense, you'll be surprised and happy at how easily it may be for you to raise your income. That new moon is to light your second house of earned income, and it will receive sensational aspects from both Neptune and Jupiter, two heavy-duty planets that have a lot of influence in our solar system's lineup.

The early part of September comes in softly. Mercury had been retrograde in February, so you will have time to get organized and begin making decisions again. Even so, I would like you to take a slow, watch-and-wait approach. October is due to be a very difficult month, for two angry eclipses are coming by, October 15 and 29. You will be focused mainly on a relationship, in love or business, or else you will have to tend to your health.

HOROSCOPES

40

GEMINI (MAY 21 - JUNE 21)

This will be a big month for career progress, dear Gemini. Last month you were plagued with delays, because the planet that is in charge of your welfare, Mercury, was going retrograde. Say goodbye to those frustrations - Mercury went direct on August 28, so you can sign contracts again, and resume shopping, especially for electronic items.

CANCER (JUNE 22 - JULY 22)

TAURUS (APR 20 - MAY 20)

You had a lot going on in your career in August, and you were concentrating hard on all you had to do, but September promises to brim with social activity and be lots more fun. The Sun and Neptune are standing ready to welcome the new moon on August 28/September 1 (depending on time zone), 11 degrees Pisces, in your eleventh house of hopes and wishes, friends, and social events, so you have lots of enjoyable events shaping up that you will want to attend.

Most of September will be bright and happy for you. Best of all, the new moon of August 28/ September 1 (depending on your time zone) is in Virgo, 11 degrees, that will fall in your broadening, adventurous ninth house of foreign travel, higher learning, philosophy, religion, legal matters, publishing, and broadcasting.

LEO (JULY 23 - AUG 22)

No matter what, it seems you will be pleased with the flow of events. This new moon will be in Virgo, 11 degrees, and imaginative Neptune will be conjunct this new moon. On top of this, Jupiter, the planet of good fortune, will be in ideal angle to the new moon to precise degree, suggesting that whatever deal or sale you make, you will be compensated very generously.
