1980, in the wetlands of southern Spain, two Madrid policemen reluctantly arrive to investigate the disappearance of two teenage girls. Ensnarled in upsetting discoveries and clues that only deepen the confusion and mystery, this atmospheric, True Detective-like thriller explores crime in a traumatised Spain post-Franco.

In 1939, Georg Elser takes the decision to kill Adolf Hitler. A bomb in a brew house in Munich misses its target only by 13 minutes. Who was this man who decided to act while everyone else was following blindly or keeping silent?

Andrew Haigh’s subtly devastating film follows the fractured relationship between a couple heading towards their 45th wedding anniversary party. A powerful and enthralling tale of how an apparently happy union can be tormented by an echo from the past, and suddenly threatened by insecurities and irrational jealousy.

Starring: O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins

In 1970s San Francisco, precocious young cartoonist Minnie, inspired by her mother’s no-holds-barred approach to partying, seeks grown-up thrills anywhere she can. Instigating a liaison with her mother’s boyfriend, she begins an affair with a man two decades her senior, and despite the age gap remains utterly in control. Edinburgh Film Festival

Tracy, a lonely college freshman, is taken in by Brooke - an adventurous gal about town. Mistress America is Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig’s new comedy about dream-chasing, scoresettling, and cat stealing. Sundance

Locked since birth in a New York apartment by their overprotective father, the Angulo’s siblings know little of the outside world. To cope with isolation they pass the time re-enacting Hollywood movies with scripts, sets and costumes. When one of the brothers escapes, the family is forced to enter society...

Starring: Charlotte Rampling, Tom Courtenay

Starring: Bel Powley, Alexander Skarsgård

Already a cult favourite! Combining director Steven Soderburgh's indie aesthetic with wildly entertaining dance sequences and Matthew McConaughey, Magic Mike certainly shows you a good time!

PRECINCT SEVEN FIVE (15) From 1986 to 1992, Michael Dowd created a small criminal empire whilst working for the NYPD. Tiller Russell’s documentary allows Dowd, a gregarious storyteller, to explain what happened whilst asking wider questions.

Unashamedly a film for 'grown ass women' Magic Mike XXL is a delightful fantasy featuring fantastic performances from the whole cast, who really want to give the audience what they want!

When English couple Gemma and Charles Bovery move into a small Normandy town, Martin Joubert, the baker and resident Flaubert fan, can’t believe it. Here are two real life figures who seem to be replicating the behaviour of his favourite fictional characters right before his eyes. This charming retelling of the classic Madame Bovary story is a visual feast, from the picturesque countryside to the so-good-you-canalmost-taste-it patisserie.

Remember - there are no guilty pleasures - buy a double bill ticket for £12 full / £10 concs and receive a free bottle of water - you may need it!

Dir: Naji Abu Nowar UAE 2014 100m

Starring: Alain Delon, Monica Vitti

The third, arguably best, film of Antonioni’s ‘trilogy’ about troubled relationships in an alienating world remains a landmark of modern cinema.

This charming retelling of the classic Madame Bovary story is a visual feast, from the picturesque countryside to the so-good-you-canalmost-taste-it patisserie.

Ensnarled in upsetting discoveries and clues that only deepen the confusion and mystery, this atmospheric, True Detective-like thriller explores crime in a traumatised Spain post-Franco.

The third, arguably best, film of Antonioni’s ‘trilogy’ about troubled relationships in an alienating world remains a landmark of modern cinema.

The third, arguably best, film of Antonioni’s ‘trilogy’ about troubled relationships in an alienating world remains a landmark of modern cinema.

The third, arguably best, film of Antonioni’s ‘trilogy’ about troubled relationships in an alienating world remains a landmark of modern cinema.

The third, arguably best, film of Antonioni’s ‘trilogy’ about troubled relationships in an alienating world remains a landmark of modern cinema.

“If I wanted to get into heaven on the basis of one movie, that’s the one I would offer up.” Perhaps his personal favourite, Chimes at Midnight’s greatest legacy might be the tenderness and vulnerability Welles offers as a loved but betrayed Falstaff.

Starring: Orson Welles, Rita Hayworth

Starring: Joseph Cotten

MON 3, 8.15PM

The sea, Rita Hayworth singing on the deck, the mirror sequence – could this be Welles’s best-looking film? And yet, once more, Welles didn’t have control over the final cut of his innovative film – shot almost entirely on location – leaving us to wonder just how glorious the intended 20-minute funhouse scene could have been.

TOUCH OF EVIL (12A) + INTRODUCTION

SUN 9, 8PM

Intended as a complementary threepiece to a stage production this comedic silent film was lost for years, until it re-appeared in 2008. A restored print premiered in 2013, with various takes for each scene and all three parts attached together. This is a rare chance to see a splendid Joseph Cotten, fleeing a jealous husband in a mad chase on the New York rooftops. Melissa Gueneau, Press & Marketing Co-ordinator at Broadway, will introduce this screening.

A long hot summer in rural Norfolk and a rough coming-of-age for Goob Taylor. He fights with brutal, womanising stock car racer Gene Womack for his mother’s attention, and falls for the exotic charms of a pretty foreign field worker. We’re pleased to welcome director, Guy Myhill for a post-screening Q&A.

Blood Cells follows the perilous journey home of Adam, a young man whose life fell apart when the Foot and Mouth epidemic of 2001 decimated his family’s farm. The only British project ever to be selected by Biennale College: Cinema. Widely praised at its Venice International premiere, the film was shot on the fringes of England and Wales. We are pleased to welcome directors Joseph Bull and Luke Seomore for a post-screening Q&A.

“Stylistically and tonally it blends the codeine reverie of Harmony Korine’s Gummo with the coldshower realism of early Ken Loach, although perhaps the film it best evokes is Shane Meadows’, A Room for Romeo Brass.” Little White Lies

From the award-winning animators behind Peppa Pig, The Big Knights revolves around the exploits of brothers Sir Boris (the finest swordsman in the world), Sir Morris (the most enthusiastic) and their noble pets, Sir Horace the Dog and Sir Doris the Hamster. Endowed with all the wit and charm familiar to audiences of Peppa Pig, The Big Knights is humorous and immensely endearing. FAMILY MATINEE PRICES APPLY

“I didn’t know what you couldn’t do. I didn’t deliberately set out to invent anything. It just seemed to me, why not? And there is a great gift that ignorance has to bring to anything. That was the gift I brought to Kane, ignorance.”... and it changed cinema forever.

The comedies produced by the studio are perhaps their most enduring legacy and in this one-day class we will delve beyond the usual suspects and also look at lesserknown films such as Cheer Boys Cheer (a must for CAMRA members) and Barnacle Bill (Alec Guinness on Hunstanton pier!).

Intended as a complementary threepiece to a stage production this comedic silent film was lost for years, until it re-appeared in 2008. A restored print premiered in 2013, with various takes for each scene and all three parts attached together. This is a rare chance to see a splendid Joseph Cotten, fleeing a jealous husband in a mad chase on the New York rooftops. Melissa Gueneau, Press & Marketing Co-ordinator at Broadway, will introduce this screening.

Dir: Orson Welles USA 1947 87m

Dir: Orson Welles USA 1938 67m

When Ealing Studios was sold to BBC in 1955, a plaque was put up by Michael Balcon, with the inscription: Here during a quarter of a century many films were made projecting Britain and the British character.
