In 1958, Mildred and Richard Loving were arrested for getting married. The Civil Rights movement being in its infancy, their mixed-race marriage was deemed illegal in the state of Virginia, and they spent the best part of 10 years fighting to overturn the law. Jeff Nichols directs Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga in this intimate, understated, yet masterful and powerful drama.
The true story of how historian David Irving sued writer Deborah E. Lipstadt in 1996 after she accused him of being a Holocaust denier, leaving her and her legal team bizarrely fighting to prove the Holocaust did indeed occur.
Barry Jenkins’s tender and heartbreaking Moonlight follows Chiron from childhood to adulthood as he attempts to find himself and his sexuality amidst the dangers of drugs and violence in his depressed Florida neighbourhood.
Now working as a garbage collector in 1950s Pittsburgh, a former baseball star creates tension in his family when he squashes his son’s dream of playing college football. Denzel Washington’s third feature is the long-awaited adaptation of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play.
Michael Keaton gives a powerhouse performance as Ray Kroc, an Illinois salesman who met Mack and Dick McDonald in the 1950s. Impressed by their burger operation, Kroc forced his way in to get control of the company and create a billion-dollar empire.
“Weisz brings a ferocious tenacity to her portrayal of Lipstadt. And Spall epitomises the banality of evil. Denial is a gripping reminder that history should never be taken for granted.” Toronto International Film Festival
“Jeff Nichols has given us a quietly devastating film that resonates for the here and now and marches to the cadences of history and the heart.” Rolling Stone

An audacious twist on the screwball comedy - here, the twosome is an aging-hippie prankster father and his corporate-ladder-climbing daughter Toni Erdmann delivers art and entertainment in equal measure and charmed just about everyone who saw it at the Cannes Film Festival last year. Maren Ade’s dazzling script has just enough of a classical comedic structure to support 162 minutes of surprises big and small. Sublime performances by Sandra Hüller and Peter Simonischek leave the audience suspended between laughter and tears. Lincoln Film Society

Hidden Figures is the incredible untold story of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson - brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.
