When David Locke impulsively exchanges identities with a businessman he finds dead in a North African hotel room, he believes he’s starting anew. But passing himself off as someone else doesn’t mean he’s escaping the past… One of the great masterpieces from director Michelangelo Antonioni, this engrossing thriller features some of his most memorable and eloquent images. Suspense, intrigue, wit, visual beauty, ideas: this classic has them all in spades. BFI
In 1953, with their celebrity on the decline, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy embark on a Variety Hall tour of Britain. Surprised by the modesty of bookings, the tour starts off subdued, but slowly, the charm and beauty of their performances allow them to reconnect with their adoring fans. A portrait of the most tender and poignant of creative marriages, and a touching tribute to two of cinema’s most iconic comedy figures in their twilight years.
Free-thinking country girl Sidonie-Gabrielle ‘Colette’ is barely out of her teens when she marries ‘Willy’, a literary impresario 14 years her senior. Recognising her talent, Willy puts Colette to work, publishing her under his name. But when her titillating, risqué Claudine series becomes a smash hit, Colette tires of Willy stealing her success and fights back to reclaim her own literary name. This witty, Belle Époque-era biopic stars Keira Knightley and Dominic West as a literary couple whose relationship rewrote social and gender rules. BFI London Film Festival
Queen of France at 16 and widowed at 18, the charismatic Mary Stuart defies pressure to remarry and instead, returns to her native Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne. But Scotland and England fall under the rule of Elizabeth I. Betrayal, rebellion and conspiracies within the court imperil both thrones – and change the course of history.
Journalist David Sheff’s seemingly perfect life is shattered when he discovers his teenage son Nic is addicted to methamphetamine. Unable to truly understand or stop his son’s addiction, David is prepared to risk everything to get his son back – a once sweet, thoughtful and bright young man.
Starring: Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz, Emma Stone
It’s the early 18th century and Queen Anne’s health is deteriorating. Her close friend and confidante, Lady Sarah, tends to her needs and advises on the current war with France. When Sarah’s cousin Abigail unexpectedly arrives, she soon wins the Queen’s attentions, starting a wickedly funny rivalry with her cousin in Yorgos Lanthimos’s lush, riotous and outrageous new film, led by three outstanding performances from Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone.

The incredible true story of the Scots who managed to ground half of Chile's Air Force, from the other side of the world, in the longest single act of solidarity against Pinochet's brutal dictatorship.
“Sharp, filthy and fantastically anarchic, The Favourite is a hilarious and original vision that is an utter delight. The very definition of a must-see.” HeyUGuys
It starts as a zombie apocalypse film shot in one take until… well, until it isn’t anymore. We can’t tell you much about this one, you’re just going to have to trust us when we tell you this is one of the most joyous, inventive and laugh-out-loud funny films of the year. Made on a tiny budget, the film became an instant box office hit in Japan despite its complete lack of marketing campaign. It’s just that brilliant! “The only thing more fun than the 37-minute single-take opening is what comes next.” Film School Rejects

Based on a book by controversial French novelist Christine Angot, Corsini’s film begins in the 1950s, as office worker Rachel falls for the dashing Philippe, a Nietzsche-reading sophisticate. They embark on a passionate relationship, but he won’t share his life with her, and she raises their daughter Chantal alone. Years later, the darker side of Philippe’s nature emerges shockingly. Superbly performed and directed, this is a hugely impressive work by Corsini (Summertime, Leaving), its meticulous period recreation and potent feminist voice echoing the prime 1980s work of Diane Kurys. In the lead-up to the 2000 presidential election, George W. Bush picks Dick Cheney, the CEO of one of the world’s largest oil field service companies, to be his Republican running mate. When Bush wins the presidency, Cheney uses his newfound power to help reshape the country, and the world. Adam McKay (The Big Short) directs an all-star cast to re-tell the story of how a bureaucratic Washington insider quietly became the most powerful man in the world.
Christmas Island is renowned for the astonishing migration of 40 million red crabs scurrying to the sea every year. But the island’s beauty hides a dark secret: a high-security detention facility, where the Australian government keeps asylum-seekers indefinitely. This documentary is a poetic profile of the forgotten asylum seekers detained there.
