A bitter-sweet comedy from Ken Loach about a bunch of lads who get involved in a scheme to make money from stealing a rare whisky as a way of countering the boredom and poverty of unemployment. Starring: Claude Baz Moussawbaa,

Cronenberg continues his shift into prestige territory with this adaptation of Don DeLillo’s highly praised post-9/11 novel about a wealthy banker who travels across Manhattan for a haircut and gets into numerous jams, encounters and accidents along the way. Scripting the movie himself, Cronenberg has gathered up his usual collaborators - including composer Howard Shore and cinematographer Peter Suschitzky - plus a strong cast which also includes Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti and Samantha Morton, for what promises to be a slick and steely look at American culture and commerce in the early 21st century.

A potent cocktail of mayhem, sex and betrayal, Killer Joe marks a glorious return for director William Friedkin (The Exocist, The French Connection). It’s a ruthless and thoroughly enjoyable thriller in which Emile Hirsch plays a desperate Texas debtor who plots to kill his mother, with help of his family. They hire a crooked cop to do the job, but Killer Joe asks for their teenage daughter as a “retainer.”

Starring: Emily Blunt, Rosemarie Dewitt, Mark

Filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to life’s ultimate mystery. We’ll be showing Prometheus in 3D from Friday 22nd July.

Marion and Mingus live cozily with their cat and two young children from previous relationships. However, when Marion’s father, her oversexed sister, and her sister’s outrageous boyfriend descend upon them for a visit, it initiates two unforgettable days that will test Marion and Mingus’s relationship to the limit. With their unwitting racism and sexual frankness, the French triumvirate hilariously has no boundaries or filters... and no person is left unscathed. Sundance Film Festival

JAWS (PG) Dir: Steven Spielberg United States 1975 124m

A genuinely funny comedy about the religious divisions in the Middle East, this hugely entertaining parable is set in a mythical village cut off from the rest of the world where Christians and Muslims live happily side-by-side. When this harmony is threatened, the women of the village band together to keep their hot-headed men from fighting. With some lovely comic characters and hilarious situations, this warm and funny film, though undoubtedly idealistic, nevertheless reveals some home truths. WOW Film Festival

The brilliant and inventive Wes Anderson returns with this comedy drama set in the summer of ’65. Twelve-year-old Sam abandons his scout troupe to run away with his girlfriend, Suzy. Hot on the pair’s trail are the rest of the scouts from Camp Ivanhoe, a police sheriff and Suzy’s parents, played by Frances McDormand and Bill Murray.

A bitter-sweet comedy from Ken Loach about a bunch of lads who get involved in a scheme to make money from stealing a rare whisky as a way of countering the boredom and poverty of unemployment. Will it be ‘slopping out’ for the next twenty years, or a new future with ‘Uisge Beatha’ the ‘Water of Life?’ Only the angels know...

Chiara Mastroianni

Samantha Morton

Nadine Labaki

FROM FRI 25 MAY

Starring beloved French actresses Catherine Deneuve and (her real-life daughter) Chiara Mastroianni, this sly and lovely new work from writer/director Christophe Honoré takes us from Paris in the sixties to 21st century London as it follows a mother and daughter’s twin adventures in love.

A striking new film from animator Michel Ocelot (Kirikou and the Sorceress) that uses new 3D techniques alongside classic silhouette animation to create an enthralling kaleidoscopic effect. The film weaves together six exotic fables which unfold in Tibet, medieval Europe, an Aztec kingdom, the African savannah, and the Land of the Dead. [IN ENGLISH]. NORMAL PRICES APPLY - NO 3D SURCHARGE.

Sundance award-winning filmmaker Lynn Shelton (Humpday) shows mastery at finding the humour in awkward situations in this tale of romance, deception and sibling rivalry. Mark Duplass plays a Pacific Northwest slacker who stirs tension between two sisters after a drunken sexual incident. With a script full of subtle psychological twists and turns, the stellar cast delivers performances that are raw, emotional and hilarious.

Nadine Labaki

Duplass

Sundance award-winning filmmaker Lynn Shelton (Humpday) shows mastery at finding the humour in awkward situations in this tale of romance, deception and sibling rivalry. Mark Duplass plays a Pacific Northwest slacker who stirs tension between two sisters after a drunken sexual incident. With a script full of subtle psychological twists and turns, the stellar cast delivers performances that are raw, emotional and hilarious.

The Belgium-based trio behind the acclaimed Rumba follow it with another Tati-inspired, candy-coloured romp: this time, a charmingly off-kilter adventure about a hotel clerk who falls in love with a wish-granting fairy.

Nadine Labaki

Nadine Labaki

A potent cocktail of mayhem, sex and betrayal, Killer Joe marks a glorious return for director William Friedkin (The Exocist, The French Connection). It’s a ruthless and thoroughly enjoyable thriller in which Emile Hirsch plays a desperate Texas debtor who plots to kill his mother, with help of his family. They hire a crooked cop to do the job, but Killer Joe asks for their teenage daughter as a “retainer.”

Join us for a unique cinema event a feature film made by over 180 young people. Local youngsters researched the communities and people around them before working with Broadway’s film-makers to create their own film.

Writer/director Jean-Marc Vallée returns to the fluid, intuitive filmmaking that made him a sensation with C.R.A.Z.Y. In Café De Flore, he spins a complex, timejumping narrative involving a present-day Montreal father in the throes of a mid-life crisis and the mother of a child with Down’s syndrome in 1969 Paris. Simply a beautiful, intricate film.

Experimental performance platform Hatch has been working on a series of double bills with Broadway’s Media Arts programme, pairing brand new works-inprogress by local artists with the most exciting touring shows from around the country. Following a residency at Broadway, Frank Abbott will present Spaghetti Powerpoint, a uniquely personal presentation on cinema and human history which will be shown in tandem with Adios Gringo, a forgotten western that he still remembers. This will be followed by Mamoru Iriguchi’s Projector/Conjector at Nottingham Playhouse, a digital love story which is part dance, part living installation - part Star Wars, part Swan Lake.

SUN 17, 2PM

TICKETS are available in advance for all films. You can pay for your tickets with cash, cheque, credit and debit cards in person, by phone or online. There is no phone or online booking fee.

ACCESS INFORMATION Broadway is fully accessible to people using wheelchairs. An infra-red hearing system is fitted in each auditorium - Screen 2 and the box office also have induction loops which can be used with your hearing aid set to 'T'. Guide Dogs are welcome. Back supports and seat wedges are also available from the Box Office. Let us know if anything doesn't come up to scratch and we'll try to put it right. Brochure available in alternative formats on request.
