Vacationing in Paris on the coattails of his conservative in-laws-to-be, unfulfilled screenwriter Gil is starryeyed and full of nostalgia in the fabled City of Lights; but his fiancée Inez does not exactly share his enthusiasm. While Inez and her parents shop and bemoan the inconvenient rain, Gil slips away and discovers, to his amazement, a night-life unlike anything in his wildest dreams. Woody Allen’s latest winning comedy offers insights on love, culture, Paris, and the defining moment in one artist’s life when he’s forced to choose between his dreams and reality. AFI.COM
After the sudden death of his globetrekking son, Daniel, Tom flies to the Pyrenees to collect his body. But he spontaneously decides to complete Daniel’s journey, scattering his son’s ashes along the 800km Way of St. James, a pilgrim’s path which becomes a life-changing experience.
Starring: Peter Mullan, Olivia Colman,
University student Lucy is a quiet risk taker; she has some part time work to pay her way but needs more income and takes a job as a Sleeping Beauty at a private and discreet ‘Sleeping Beauty chamber’ inside a country mansion. Elderly men with money come here to seek an erotic experience that requires Lucy’s absolute submission - and she is sedated for the duration of each session. Lucy gets increasingly anxious to know what happens to her when she is asleep. One of the clients has well prepared and unexpected plans for his session.

Tomboy features an astonishing performance from young Zoé Héran as the title character, a ten-year-old girl named Laure who dresses as a boy and convinces her new friends that she’s ten-year-old Michael. Newly arrived with “his” family in the French countryside, Michael wins admirers for his soccer skills and steals the heart of young Lisa. But how long can she keep her secret? Touching, funny and heartbreaking, Tomboy explores questions of gender and identity with great warmth and insight.
Tilda Swinton

After a nine-year absence from the screen, acclaimed Scottish director Lynne Ramsay returns to the screen with an intimate and disturbing look at a mother confronting very dark truths about her teenage son. Based on Lionel Shriver’s Orange Prize-winning bestseller of the same name, the film stars Tilda Swinton in a heart-breaking performance as Eva, a once-vibrant woman who finds herself re-examining her life and role as a mother, and her possible complicity in the fact that Kevin has always been evil.
Acclaimed French filmmaker Stéphane Brizé (Not Here to be Loved) returns to the screen with this moving story of a romance between a married man and his son’s teacher, and their struggle to prevent their attraction from erupting into a full-blown affair. A modern-day Brief Encounter, this subtle and tender tale of suppressed passion is a refreshingly adult romance told with style and grace.
George Clooney
Swedish filmmaker Göran Olsson’s fascinating documentary juxtaposes recently discovered Swedish archival material chronicling the Black Power movement in the United States with new commentary by prominent African American voices in cultural and political spheres. Set to an evocative soundtrack with original music by Questlove (DJ and drummer of the hip-hop group the Roots) and Om’Mas Keith, the outcome is a dynamic audiovisual collage about being Black in America in the ’60s and ’70s, through the curious and at times naive eyes of Swedish journalists.
Eddie Marsan
Plagued by hidden demons and an appetite for violence, Joseph seeks redemption through his burgeoning friendship with Christian charity-shop worker Hannah. Initially hostile and bullying, Joseph soon discovers that Hannah’s life at home with her husband far from represents the religious values that she espouses and he derides. Confronting, intense and occasionally very hard to watch, Tyrannosaur is comparable with the first films of fellow British thespians Gary Oldman and Tim Roth and heralds Paddy Considine as a distinctive new directorial force.
