Meet Patricia Dombrowski, aka Killa P, aka Patti Cake$ - an aspiring rapper on her quest for hip-hop superstardom. Her daily routine mainly involves brushing off the bullies and working at a dive bar to support her ailing grandmother and hard-drinking mother. But Patti is determined. With the help of her friends, she’s going to make it big.
The extraordinary true story of an unexpected friendship in the later years of Queen Victoria’s reign. When Abdul Karim, a young clerk, travels from India to participate in the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, he is surprised to find favour with the Queen herself. The two forge an unlikely and devoted alliance with a loyalty to one another that her household and inner circle all attempt to destroy.
Starring: Suhaee Abro, Eman Malik
Morrison’s latest film depicts the history of a Canadian gold rush town and how a First Nation hunting camp was transformed and displaced, by chronicling the life cycle of a singular film collection – 533 nitrate stock films from the 1910s and 1920s, lost for over 50 years until found in a sub-arctic swimming pool.
Borg Vs McEnroe tells the story of the epic rivalry between Swedish tennis legend Björn Borg and his greatest adversary, the brash American John McEnroe, which came to a head during the 1980 Wimbledon Championships.
Starring: Adil Hussain, Lalit Behl
Starring: Domhnall Gleeson, Margot Robbie
Following a prophetic dream, 77-year-old Daya announces that his time has come and that he must go to the holy city of Varanasi to achieve salvation in his final days. His son, Rajiv, reluctantly agrees to accompany him, but once there, Daya is reinvigorated, making new friends with the other ‘dying’ residents, and forcing the father and son to reconnect.
A rare glimpse into the relationship between beloved children’s author A. A. Milne and his young son Christopher Robin, whose stuffed toys inspired the magical world of Winnie the Pooh. Christopher Robin and his family are swept up in the international success of the books; the enchanting tales bringing welcome hope and comfort to England in the wake of WWI. But with the eyes of the world on Christopher Robin, what will be the cost to the family?
YU-GI-OH! THE MOVIE: THE DARK SIDE OF DIMENSIONS (PG) 129m
Dir: Francis Lee UK 2017 105m
This intelligent crime drama is the directorial debut of screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water, Sicario). Cory Lambert is a wildlife officer in Wyoming. When he discovers the body of a young Native American woman, the FBI come knocking. Rookie agent Jane Banner is assigned to the case and requires Lambert’s aid in the inhospitable terrain. Superbly directing his own screenplay, Sheridan brings his trademark sense of place, fully drawn characters and real emotion to bear. This stylish, potent mystery also features the music of Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.
Dustin Hoffman plays a young man who’s led astray by the seductive Mrs Robinson, mother of the girl he loves. Mike Nichols’s masterpiece returns beautifully restored for its 50th anniversary.
Starring: Josh O’Connor, Alec Secareanu

DETROIT (15) 143m
This striking drama is based on a remarkable true story, told in partial flashbacks, about how a mother and her two daughters try to protect their remote Pakistan home, picking up machine guns to fight off a virtual army of armed men. In the best traditions of Assault on Precinct 13, the women do all they can to survive and with their supply of bullets dwindling they still refuse to give in. An impressive first feature from Nottingham-raised director, Sarmad Masud.

Quentin Tarantino called Le Doulos “my favourite screenplay of all time,” and one can see in its twisty tale of treachery a template for Reservoir Dogs. The impossibly cool Le Doulos is a pure expression of Melville’s style, as well as his tribute to American cinema. TIFF
