I’m very pleased that you are interested in attending The College at Brockport, State University of New York, for the fall 2014 semester. I’m honored and proud to share why I feel Brockport is so special! Simply put, the College has an incredibly active and engaging campus. While your academic program will be your focus, it’s also very important for you to get involved in activities outside the classroom so you can continuously grow and flourish in self-discovery and personal development. Whether you want to get to know other students that share your interests, make new friends, or get to know faculty and staff, there are many ways to make connections at Brockport. You, in addition, have opportunities to engage in service-learning, using your knowledge from the classroom to solve real-world problems. Your choices don’t end there. You can choose from more than 100 clubs and organizations, 12 women’s and 11 men’s NCAA Division III athletic teams, and 13 intramural and 18 club sports. We also have a variety of latenight programs such as open-mic nights and concerts, performing arts, and trips to professional sporting events, museums and shopping. There also are opportunities to join The Stylus (our College newspaper); 89.1 The Point (our College radio station); or the ROTC program. There is truly something for everyone at Brockport! This is our College promise. We recognize that learning extends beyond the classroom and we encourage our students to engage in the many opportunities available to them. Successful students are well-balanced students. That’s why Brockport’s campus is alive with activities, events, sports, the arts, community service and other programs that help students gain the most out of their college experience. Our campus environment allows students to develop socially, physically and intellectually. The College has a broad range of options for leadership growth, social activities and community involvement. College years bring increased levels of independence and responsibility. Brockport provides students with the resources and support needed to venture forward on this path to selfdiscovery. We’ll help students pursue something greater than they ever imagined!

OurResidentialExperience Living Living on campus at Brockport means more than just a place to sleep. The college residential experience serves as the foundation for developing friendships that last a lifetime. Our vibrant and safe living-learning environment helps students become successful members of our campus community. A Resident Director (RD) and a staff Resident Assistant (RA) provide leadership for each residence hall community. RDs and RAs are excellent sources of information and will help students make decisions, support them in developing responsibility and concern for others and assist in acquiring a plan for academic success.

Students who live in our residence halls gain a number of benefits, including: • Special workshops to build academic skills • Regular events to build a sense of community • A faculty-in-residence in Thompson, McFarlane and McLean Halls • The opportunity for freshmen students to join a Living Learning Community

Dining Students have many options when it comes to dining and meal plans. The College’s dining services are regularly ranked high within the SUNY system. Meal plans are designed to provide variety, flexibility and plenty of healthy dining options. Our diversified menus include vegan, vegetarian and ethnic entrees allowing students to enjoy their favorite foods and expand their palates. The two main dining halls, Brockway and Harrison, feature a wide selection of food stations and made-to-order choices. In addition to the two main dining halls, there are a number of cafes, late-night spots and retail locations that offer a number of different meal options throughout the day.

Living Learning Communities Living Learning Communities (LLCs) provide unique environments that allow select groups of students to share common residential and learning experiences. Based on disciplinary and interdisciplinary themes, LLCs create intentional links between academic, social and residential experiences. Students with similar academic and co-curricular interests live and learn together, with more than 500 students participating each year.

There are endless benefits to joining these communities: • Live with students who share similar interests, passions and challenges • Convenient, natural study groups • Special on-campus programming • Unique off-campus field trips • Targeted academic enrichment • Networking opportunities with faculty, staff and alumni • A dedicated Residential Tutor
