Tree Change Lifestyle…5 min Drive to Charles Sturt University With a budget of over $49 million, stage two of the development of CSU in Port Macquarie will include extra teaching and learning spaces; laboratories, staff accommodation, student spaces for recreation and expansion of the learning commons for individual study and group work; and a new 150-space car park. The vision is for the first stage of the campus to flow into stage two and they will be joined by sheltered walkways with common courtyards. The university is also looking at the possibility of an art gallery, allied health clinic and innovation hub, and, although not funded at this stage, these would enhance the local community’s engagement in the campus big time! CSU is introducing four new courses at Port Macquarie in 2018 now offering 22 undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered on the campus. The new courses are: -
Bachelor of Occupational Therapy; Master of Customs Administration; Bachelor of Environmental Science and Management Bachelor of Applied Science (Parks, Recreation and Heritage).

Port Macquarie Airport Upgrade…on Track! The first stage of the $9.875 million project should be open to the public by the second half of 2019. Port Macquarie-Hastings Council’s representative’s, have said that the remainder of the project is due to conclude by the end of the year. Visitors to the airport will notice that about three quarters of the former terminal has been demolished and replaced by the frame of the updated terminal, with concrete slabs, structural steelwork and the majority of the roof already installed. In coming months, council’s builder - AW Edwards - will focus on closing in the building exterior and commencing the internal fit out of the new departure lounge, amenities, café, retail area, car rental desks and passenger screening area. Large scale infrastructure projects surround the Mid Nth Coast as residential projects continue. Other projects on the radar are the proposed Orbital Link Road connecting Port Macquarie’s Eastern and Western precincts, proposed Industrial Hub on the Highway, proposed Cinema Complex, proposed Foreshore Development and a number of others ‘earmarked’ over the next few years. Ascot Park commands a natural bush setting yet centrally located to all of the infrastructure projects either underway or yet to be approved…great reasons to invest in a lifestyle envied by many!
Entertaining with Lifestyle Front-of-Mind When Dining Al-Fresco is Your Thing! Italian’s use the expression ‘al fresco’ to mean ‘in the chill’ or ‘in the cool’…funnily enough the term ‘al fresco’ literally means ‘in prison’!! So…the phrase ‘al fresco’ has taken on a meaning of ‘eating outside in the cool’, and has been warmly accepted, as Australia boasts a moderate climate, particularly here on the Mid Nth Coast of NSW. Remember growing up?...Eating on the back porch may have been for a special occasion…now it’s pretty much a ‘must have’ especially during the planning and construction of new homes. Al Fresco areas range from being open and airy, maybe a ceiling fan with mood lighting and water features, through to enclosed ‘Queensland Style’ rooms, but still welcoming the outside environment in. Screened Al Fresco entertaining areas in the warmer climates are popular due to the insects that come out at night when its warm. Café blinds are also a popular feature, available in different styles from tie down to zip down…colours and materials differ greatly suitable to everyone’s taste, and roll up out of the way when not in use. So hardly a prison sentence at Ascot Park Port Macquarie, for any further information on vacant land or new house/ land packages…send us a personal message and we’ll help you with whatever you may need.
Water Features…Creating a Tranquil Vibe You may have walked into the reception area of a hotel in Bali, Vietnam or Far North Queensland…and instantly had that feeling of ‘this place has got it going on’…relaxed, tranquil, laid back to the point where you walk away thinking to yourself…I have to create the same feeling at home! Water features in a residential setting are sometimes installed as an afterthought and can sometimes very much look that way. When planned however, they can be incorporated into the main features such as retaining walls, fence lines or main garden beds, where the finer touches of potted plants, lighting, stone ornaments and succulents are used to draw the eye to the water feature in the background. The sound of bubbling or running water in the garden or entertaining area is easy to do, and with the availability of numerous ‘how-to’ videos on YouTube, self-installation is very doable! Maintenance is easy with consistency being the key, but overall water features are pretty much set and forget, like a lot of things around the home, when the quarterly power bill or rates notice turns up, it’s a good reminder to refresh water, vacuum air-conditioning intakes or wash solar panels on the roof. At Ascot Park in Port Macquarie people are living this dream right now, and if this sounds like something you’re interested in come for a visit, send us a private message right here or give Paul Loughland a call on 0447020742.
