JOAQUIN LOPEZ HEAD COACH
Joaquin Lopez has been named interim head coach of the Sonoma State University women’s tennis program in 2010-11. Lopez enters his fourth year with the women’s tennis team. He has been the assistant coach for the Seawolves for the past three years and he has also served as the associate head coach for the men’s tennis team since 2004. A graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Lopez earned NCAA Division I national rankings in singles and doubles and was named the university’s top studentathlete during his senior year. He then played five years of professional tennis, earning an ATP ranking of No. 844 in the world and No. 48 in Spain. During his professional career, Lopez had several wins against ATP Top 100 players. In 1996, Lopez received his Master’s Degree in Sport Psychology in Spain. He has coached top juniors in Germany and has worked as a tennis psychologist with professional players in Spain. Lopez graduated in May 2000 from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology with a Master’s in Counseling Psychology and in 2008 he earned his license as a marriage and family psychotherapist in California. Currently, Lopez has a private practice as a psychotherapist and he teaches Transformational Tennis, his own innovative coaching approach emphasizing personal growth through sports. He resides in Sebastopol with his wife, Aimee, and two children, Ian and Vida.

2008-09: Earned Second Team All-CCAA honors in doubles after compiling an 11-7 record with teammate Haley Hickock, mainly at the No. 2 spot...also went 1-1 with Molly Maguire in tournament play...played No. 2 singles as well, posting a 9-11 overall record for the season...won her last four doubles and three of her last four singles matches. 2007-08: Competed most of her freshman campaign at the No. 4 spot for the Seawolves...finished the year 7-9 overall, (1-1 at No. 3, 6-8 at No. 4)...in her last ten matches to finish the season she was 6-4...played No. 2 doubles with partner Jeanette Peck...the duo compiled a 7-7 overall record, (6-7 at No. 2 doubles, 1-0 at No. 3 doubles) . HIGH SCHOOL: Came to Sonoma State from Carlsbad High School where she was No. 1 in singles for four years...was a four-time MVP winner…she also won a mixed doubles tournament in San Diego...she was a good student holding a 3.5 GPA to go along with her honors and AP classes. 2009-10: Spent the entire season at the No. 2 singles position, going 10-10 overall...played No. 2 doubles, as well, going 11-8 with Jessica Harris...also compiled a 2-1 record with Stephanie Hoffmire in tournament play...went 4-6 in singles in the CCAA with a win over UC San Diego in early February. 2008-09: Went 12-8 overall in doubles for the Seawolves as a sophomore... teamed up with Dana Carollo to post an 11-7 record, mainly at No. 2 doubles...also went 2-2 at No. 1 doubles...also played two matches (1-1) with Jessica Harris... recorded a 6-4 record in conference play...did not play any singles matches.

BRANDON BRONZAN
ASSOCIATE A.D. - COMMUNICATION & MARKETING Brandon Bronzan is in his ninth year as a member of the Sonoma State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Hired as Sports Information Director in 2002, Bronzan was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director in 2006 and Associate Athletics Director in 2008. He was re-classified as the Associate Athletics Director for Communications and Marketing in 2009. Bronzan oversees seven sports within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and is involved with the marketing and promotion of all teams and student-athletes. He also handles game scheduling and in 2008 established The Seawolf Sports Network, which broadcasts Sonoma State sporting events on the Internet. Prior to coming to Sonoma State, Bronzan was a Media Relations Assistant with the Tennessee Smokies, then Class AA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. Bronzan also worked for the Visalia Oaks and as a student assistant in the Sports Information department at SSU. He is a 2001 graduate of Sonoma State University with a B.S. in Business Administration (Management). A member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Bronzan has also served for two seasons on the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Regional Advisory Committee. A native of Visalia, California, Bronzan resides in Windsor with his wife Tiffany and his daughter, Olivia, and son, Luke.
YVONNE BURBANK
ASSOCIATE A.D. - STUDENT-ATHLETE SERVICES Yvonne Burbank is in her fourth year as Associate Athletics Director for Student Athlete Services in 201011. She also serves as the Senior Woman Administrator for Intercollegiate Athletics at Sonoma State University. A decorated women’s basketball star at SSU from 1995-99, Yvonne Burbank (then Yvonne Daily) was a team captain and the president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). On the court, she helped lead the team to an NCAC co-championship and to back-to-back NCAA regional appearances. Burbank joined the women’s basketball coaching staff under Mark Rigby from 1999-2001 before moving on to the University of San Francisco for a two-year stint on the Dons’ coaching staff. While at USF, Burbank earned her Master’s Degree in Sports Management. Prior to returning to Sonoma State, Burbank spent three years as the head girl’s basketball coach at Sonoma Academy in Santa Rosa. She was also an integral part of the academy’s athletic department, overseeing scheduling, game management, and revenue generation.

DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS OPERATIONS Mike is in his second year working as the Director of Business Operations for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Previously, he worked for two years at SSU in Common Management Systems. Prior to joining Intercollegiate Athletics, Mike worked for 10 years at American Home Shield in Santa Rosa, CA. As part of the national management team, he led corporate quality improvement project teams, and managed Training and Development specialists in multiple geographic locations. Mike graduated from SSU with a B.A. in Economics with a concentration in Finance (2001) and an MBA (2010). He lives in Santa Rosa with his wife Kimi and their daughter Carina.
