Japanese Old Wood Carving Guardian Dog KOMAINU 1336s-1573s/Antique Wabisabi Art Old Japanese wood carved komainu (pair). They are called "komainu" in Japan. They are from the Muromachi period (1336 -1573s). Komainu (guardian dogs) look like lions or dog-like beasts and are said to be imaginary creatures dedicated to shrines. They are often placed in pairs on the left and right sides of shrines and temples, each with a mouth in the shape of "A-Un", and are mainly placed as amulets. The material is cedar. 1336-1575 Japanese Old Stone Buddha Tathagata / Garden Figurine / Muromachi This is an antique stone Buddha from Japan. This Buddha image is called "Amida Nyorai". Nyorai means the same as Tathagata. It is the highest Buddha image in Buddhism. It is a very precious being who saves the lives of many people. Among the stone Buddhas in Japan, the Nyorai is relatively common. And many stone Buddhas were made in the Edo period (1603-1868) and even older than the Edo period (1603-1868), the Muromachi period (1336-1573). Old Japanese Wooden Box with Chrysanthemums Painting on the Wall / Mingei These wooden boxes are used to store letters and stationery. They were made in Japan from the Taisho era to the first half of the Showa era. It is beautifully decorated with chrysanthemums.
