Evaluation 4 Target audience is one of the most important things to consider if not the most important. Their opinion is vital and it is very important that you take on their feedback and include it throughout your work. I have tried to incorporate my target audiences opinion throughout and include there likes and dislikes so that I know what would appeal to them in my magazine. One of the ways I did this was by choosing a target audience that I was able to relate to, I decided this would be 15‐17 year olds as I was target these because of Facebook and school. I decided I would create a questionnaire and use Facebook as well throughout because I thought this would be very helpful and I could then later include there feedback. I asked 11 female and 10 male if I were to do this task again this would be one of the things I would change. I would like to have the same amount of male and female so I was able to get a balanced opinion. I would also have asked more people so I would have got more varied response but like I have previously mentioned time was an issue. I decided to focus on men and women as I wanted my magazine to appeal to both sexes as this is better for advertising and money aspect and is also better for the popularity of the magazine. Dance, rock, Rap and RnB were my most popular genres of music so this was the type of theme I used throughout. I knew from personal research that rap and rock type music had a bit of an edge to it hence why I used an eroded title for my front cover I tried to make it obvious that just because 2 girls were featuring on the front didn’t necessarily mean that it was more girl orientated or that it was a ‘cutesy’ magazine. I went on the UK tribes website to try and help me define what psychographic social group I was aiming for, after looking through a couple of videos I finally was able to find a stereotype that I thought my magazine was aiming at. One of the two I chose was ‘Trendies’ these is people that are known to have an interest in fashion and go for the most expensive brand. They also like to look hip and trendy and be up to date with fashion. Trendies tend to be in their early mid‐20s. Although my target audience is 15‐17 year olds I thought that this generalization was best fitted. Some of the most famous trendies include people such as Kate moss and Alexa Chung who are interested in fashion and music I thought this linked in with my magazine because originally I wanted it to be more fashion based than music but I later decided to have a balance of both. I thought seeing as these were the type of people I was aiming my magazine at I would try and incorporate a few of the things listed above into my magazine. I decided to add a ‘fashion’ page and ‘reviews on products’ as I thought this would appeal to the shopping percentage of my target audience. Rahs are the other social group I thought fitted my magazine genre. Rahs are teenagers which are very image conscious and care a lot about what people think of them. They wear nice and trendy brands to stand out and get noticed. Season is no object to them and if they think something looks good regardless to the weather and if it is not suitable they will still wear it. Money isn’t an object so Rahs are able to shop where they like when they like which is a lot different to most students. They like having a laugh, going to festivals, drink, partying and socializing. They like wearing flip‐flops, rugby shirts, UGG boots, pastel colours and branded clothing. One of the Rah’s biggest inspirations was the US hip‐hop that has begun the preppy look. They are love festivals and Mainstream indie such as the kooks. I decided I would add in my magazine a chance to win tickets to see Rihanna because I presumed that if my target audience like festivals than they would be interested in winning tickets to see ‘Rihanna’ live. For my demographics: socio‐economic classification I would aim my magazine at rank E which are ‘People subsisting on state benefits, the unemployed, pensioners etc.’ I thought I would aim it at this because moat 15‐17 which are the age I am targeting are in full time education so most of them will not have jobs or if they do they will be weekend jobs not full

time. When I asked my target audience ‘Do you have a job?’ 11 out of the 22 people I asked didn’t have a job therefore when debating about my magazine price I thought £3 was too expensive and that 1.50 was a fair price so this is the price I decided to go for. If I was to do this task again I may aim to up my target audience to 20‐30 year olds as then I may be able to potentially try to attract a higher social classification for example rank C2 or C1 as this would be more beneficial as these people would be earning more money they would have more to spend on extras and this is when my magazine would benefit most.
