STUDIO REDESIGN FLORENCE 2019
What are the benefits of a well designed workspace?
INSPIRATION
Lofoio is a local studio workspace located in Florence, Italy. They create a space for artists to work openly to their needs. Their ultimate goal is to provide people with the space they need to experiment and create new things.
in the space is accessible, yet compact. The space is set up to be collaborative with everyone that uses it. Lofoio makes it easy for anyone and everyone to create and find inspiration.
I was inspired by Lofoio’s workspace when my study abroad class went on a studio tour. Everything
Lofoio workspace freshly painted and open for some creatives.
We are an open community of artisans, creatives and geeks who want to rediscover the pleasure of learning, creating and having fun using their hands.
BENEFITS
By adding the aspects of the Lofoio workspace to our own studios we will benefit as designers, students, collaborators and problem solvers. Even with small changes such as, more storage space, lounge seating and adjustable desk the designers will have a more functional and comfortable space. People thrive in spaces that are effective, boost productivity and enhance collaboration because they feel comfortable and welcome. Natural light and open spaces help people communicate and encourage them to move around.
We share instruments in a common space where we can experiment, personalize, build, adjust and try freely.
PROPOSAL
The big changes that would take place would be; switch out the desk that are currently there to desk that are more accessible and take up less space. Following the desk, the chairs would need to changed out to some that are more compact and move around easier. The chairs would also need to be adjustable in height so the designer could adjust accordingly. And the last significant change
that would be done is to clear up wall space and create more places for pin up boards and open shelving. These changes would create a more comfortable workspace for the designers. Opening the room, making the layout flexible and encouraging people to move around will help the end result of the designers.
We organize activities and host workshops and courses, to learn new techniques, get to know new artisans, find inspiration.
